Hello, all. I'm new to the guild, and thought I'd start out by showing off a piece of my own art. I just recently started using grey tones from a manga pen set I bought, and am trying to get the hang of them before even attempting to use the copics I have.

I was wondering to buy one of those manga marker sets also. How are they? Are they worth the money? neutral

I like the one I have. It's a Faiber Castell (not completely sure on how to spell that... I'll look later). It came with small, medium, and brush tipped black inking pens, along with the grey tones. I think it came with...four, maybe five, of those. It was deffinitely worth the twenty five dollars.
I got mine at an A.C. Moore, so I'm not sure if buying it there or over the internet is cheaper.

I just got done with sketches for a character for a manga I really want to do really badly. Speaking of, does anyone know where I can download GIMP from?

I'm not sure of all my colors, but I have over thirty-something of them. eBay is a lovely, lovely, lovely thing. By the way, ninnerSHARK, how do you refill a marker? When I first used them, I carelessly used the milky white one (which I used for pale skin) a lot, and I don't think it has a lot of color left.

When I first used them, I carelessly used the milky white one (which I used for pale skin) a lot, and I don't think it has a lot of color left. If you go on the COPIC website I believe they have full instructions. I also got a pamphlet at an art store in downtown Montreal (British Blue Print Co., if you're wondering, you can order by e-mail or phone but it's probably more expensive than e-bay) that shows all the colours and sizes of markers, as well as accessories you can get like cases and fineliners. I can't find the booklet but I have the link to the site. If I remember right the refills come in packs of 3s for $10 USD (I'm in Canada so it would cost a bit more) and there's two methods of putting them into your marker. On the site the refills are under the Inks > Various Inks section if you wanna see that. The problem with lighter markers is that they always seem to be running out. D; I have almost sixty I think. But I'm addicted. I need mooore. ;________;

genevievedays only she doesnt have hands or feet? Ah, the two things that kill me; hands and feet. Thankfully, a very good friend of mine gave me a book of How To Draw Manga and it has a lovely tutorial on how to draw hands and feet, so in newer pictures you should see them.

 New picture. biggrin This is Naomi and Michael. Yes, the one with black hair is a girl... >< I forgot to show more boob-age, and my sister looked like it and asked if it was two of my boys charcaters. Anway, I again messed with inking (getting better, w00t!) and my grey tones.

Very nice colors in these. The tone is great. As for GIMP, you can get it here.
