Meera paced back and forth nervously while she waited for Louie to come back. She had finally made up her mind. She knew.. what he was.. what he was doing. While she was thankful that he never did that.. to her, she found herself always nervous in his presence. She knew he could tell. He was always so perceptive. Perhaps he knew -- even wanted this day to come. Of course.. there was something he might not be expecting.
She was sure of it now, though she was not yet showing. She could feel the flutters within her belly. She and Louie had not been intimate for but a few times but it never took much for one to become pregnant. She was sure that was her condition and she had mixed feelings about it. On one hand, she was very happy. There was something about carrying life inside you that made you feel.. so wonderful. What worried her though was if they would come out like.. Louie.
She couldn't accept his need for blood. It was hard enough that he seemed to keep himself distant, as if he didn't want her to find out. It was impossible though. The scent of blood was always lingering on him. She cared for him a great deal, but they were from two different worlds. Though she felt like he tried hard to fit in with hers, he always stood out. She was sure he noticed it as well, and she would never be able to accept his.
It was hard enough to tell him her decision to leave, but now that she was almost certain to be pregnant, that just complicated things a whole lot more.

Louie watched carefully from a distance. There was something wrong, but what was it? Something had shaken the mare he'd been meeting lately. When they'd entirely shared themselves with each other, there was nothing to hide, and was it then that she noticed the bit that set them apart. Normal soquili lived for love or to love, but Louie lived for blood. Did Meera finally realize this? He wasn't able to pinpoint what she did and did not know, and he figured it was useless trying to guess.
Slowly, he moved closer towards the mare until she was within speaking distance. In a low, almost muted tone Louie spoke softly, not wanting to shake the mare up. "Meera, you seem troubled." The wounds from that first day when they met were still healing, and he could almost feel the blood pulsing beneath them. In one sudden movement, he could've ended it and enjoyed the prize he had so longed for. However, something stopped him from doing so.
He still wanted to prove to himself that he could be like them, but everyday it proved harder to resist his natural instincts. More importantly, he told his brother that he could do it. To be proven wrong would be terrible, so the rivalry between them added to the fiery conflict burning within Louie. He was so torn on the inside, and so many directions were calling him. Unlike the mare, he didn't wear his emotions out for everyone to see. A problem for Louie was a problem for Louie, and no one else. The last thing he needed was intervention.

Meera sighed as he neared. She felt both nervous and sad. She probably would have felt afraid but her condition gave her that peace of mind. She was sure that when Louie knew, no harm would come her way. She hoped for that much at least. "Louie, it's time we talked about what you are." She took a bold step forward and looked him straight in the eye so that he would know that she was serious. Too long had she been a shy, timid little thing and that would have to stop.
"I already know that you are.. different. I have an idea of what you do, a good one, but I don't know what you are. I know that we cannot.. be together. I need stability, a life without worry and fear and you.. you need someone that can accept you for what you are, whatever that may be." She lowered her head briefly, afraid that she might hurt him. That was not what she wanted but she knew that she could never be the mare for him, just as he would never be the stallion for her. She was the day and he was the night. They were part of both worlds and met twice a day for pleasantries before drifting apart once more.
"Louie, it's important that I know. It's important that we share no more secrets." Once more she took a step forward and looked up at him with pleading eyes. "I'm carrying our babies, Louie, and it's possible that one or all could come out like you. Don't you see? I need to know."

Louie could only bite down against his own teeth when Meera decided to talk to him about what he really was. He wasn't so much upset that she found out, but rather that his brother had been right about the whole thing. "Damnit." He bit down harder, clenching his jaw out of his frustration. He hated the fact that Caine was right about the fact that he would never to be one of them. It was almost disappointing, but Louie wasn't entirely phased by who knew about his 'secret.' He was more worried about what sort of reaction they might have.
Meera wasn't one of those giddy, normal mares. He knew shouldn't run off and start blabbing to the entire world about the bloodsucking male she'd been with. Louie knew that it was now truly impossible to really hide his nature, and it would probably be more practical to be more upfront next time with the next mare he met with. He definitely didn't know why he even went with a gentle damsel in distress in the first place. He'd have to make a mental note to make sure that the next mare wouldn't mind killing, or at least some violence.
"I'm almost disappointed. I found it... interesting to learn how the other side lived." Did he leave now? There really was no point in staying, and he completely agreed with everything she was saying. He nodded, slightly, and if she wasn't paying attention she probably wouldn't have caught it at all. He supposed that he knew deep down that this could have never been a permanent situation for himself.
He didn't heal her that day in that stupid clearing because he thought something would come out of it. He did it because he knew it was cowardly to finish another's work, yes, that was it. He was sure. It wasn't possible for him to be attracted or even to fathom the vaguest idea of love. That strange feeling he had in his gut was surely not a crush developing, but his inner instincts not agreeing with his ego. Of course. That was it. He had convinced himself 100% of it.
....
Then she said that she was carrying our babies? Louie's gaze blurred and then refocused, dizzily. "W...what... no. This.... can't... be." It wasn't possible. There was no way that in the few times that they had been intimate that he could have possibly done such a thing. His gaze dropped down to the ground, not wanting to look Meera in the eyes, because he knew she wouldn't lie about such a thing. This was too grave a mistake, and he was ready to kick himself for mingling with the other side.
"Are you absolutely sure? I mean.... are you positive that you're pregnant?" Louie couldn't bring himself to ask if he was sure that they were his. He knew Meera wasn't like that. He didn't know what to do. And on top of it all, he had to deal with his suddenly dry throat that needed satisfying.
He could end it right now for Meera, and whatever babies she was carrying. He could feast, and then the evidence of his carelessness would be erased. He thought about it for a moment, but he just couldn't do that to Meera. She probably wasn't even recovered from the last time she had been attacked.
Clueless, he stepped back away from Meera as if her sudden pregnancy made her stronger. "Yes, yes, I'm quite different from you. I don't have the same desires as you. When I get thirsty, it isn't for water, but... blood." She probably wouldn't be as shocked as he wanted her to be. From the sound of it, she had already figured most of it out by herself. He just wasn't able to think that her round belly would eventually produce actual living... or existing foals. If only time could stop as it had for him. It was all going far too fast.

Though it hurt her to see his reaction, she wasn't surprised. This hadn't been planned by either one of them and it complicated situations for both as well. Still, she was sure. She could feel the little flutters within her. She just knew. It was a mother's instinct. "I'm sure, Louie. I can feel them moving inside. Like butterflies in a basket."
Meera nodded. She knew as much. She knew well that smell from personal experience no matter how clean Louie had appeared, the smell had always lingered. He never had any wounds. To her, it had been quite obvious. She had tried to ignore it for so long but there were other worries to be had. A stallion like that could bring trouble back to his lover or family one day. A stallion like that was prone to make enemies.
"I could tell," she stated, barely above a whisper. "I wasn't sure though... I had to know for sure," she apologized, "for the babies". She could tell that it wasn't something he wanted freely known. "Is it.. can it be passed down?" That's what she really wanted to know. "Louie, were you born as you are or.. did something happen to you?"
Could their babies.. be like him?

Louie's gaze dropped to the ground, as he began to press his hoof into the ground in an attempt to distract himself from what was going on. It was just all... not the way he wanted it to go. He thought he would be able to control himself, but it just proved to be too much for himself to handle. The slipping up must've changed how he appeared to Meera. Also, the thought of being a father was almost too much to cope with, as Louie stepped backwards, unsure. "I-I'm going to be a father. What the hell."
He nodded though, as she spoke, understanding the situation too clearly. She wanted to make sure none of her, their children turned out like him. What to say, he wasn't sure. There was never and vampire breedings that he had ever heard of previously so it was almost near impossible to predict if his thirst would be inherited.
Louie grimaced for a moment. It almost hurt to think that the thing he wanted so much, someone to share his true passion with, his life, was the thing Meera was trying to make sure didn't happen. If there was anything that he truly wanted, it would be a son to raise as a vampire, to teach him the ways of his kind, and how to be successful in his hunt.
He sighed, and looked out longingly towards the forest, his throat burning. "I have no idea if vampirism is capable of being an inherited trait. I don't know that any of my kind have ever been with someone so different from themselves."
Louie wondered if he should stay or go. For a regular family, this would be such a happy time, but it seemed he was only causing Meera pain. A part of him wanted to stick around though, to see if any would turn out like him.
