This is the office of Miss Annabelle Souris (sore-ee), Principal Teacher here at the Academy. While the Headmaster is away or quite busy, please come here so that you may be introduced to the Academy, informed of any current events, and have a general idea of what is to be expected of our students. Please excuse the seemingly unorganized state of the office. There simply aren't enough shelves or cabinets to place all the books and papers, and I'm afraid I'm a bit of a bibliophile and am unwilling to part with any of them. ^_^

Miss Annabelle Souris eased down into the comfort of her plush armchair, letting out a sigh of relief. Everything had been properly prepared for the arrival of both Keystone and human students. Hopefully this year would be a bit more coordinated than the last. With all of her efforts, though, along with the cooperation of the Headmaster, everything was (and should have) been set.
Anna did have good cause to have been a bit overwhelmed, though. On her way into her office, she had caught a glimpse of the line of waiting students. "I do hope they realize they can come to me as well," she murmured to the small potted lily at her desk. It was a gift from her mother. Anna planned to plant it in a beautiful place of good energy in the hopes that the blooms would spread a bit over the years, making the Academy an even more welcoming place.
But, her thoughts soon travelled back to the room around her. Stacks of books, most of which she had read, though there was a fairly large stack of unread ones to her left, seemed to form a stronghold. It gave the place an untidy, scholarly look, one that suited her. It made her chuckle at the thought of a student trying to find their way through the place.
Hopefully the students wouldn't be too critical of her or her office.

-knock, knock- Sam knocked on Miss Souris's office. As she waited she looked around at the nicely carpeted hallway. She traced her finger around an intricate pattern on the wall thinking about how lonely she was without her friends at this school. It hadn't even been a whole day. She frowned and realised how heavy her backpack was on her shoulders. She slung the back pack around and then plopped it on the coushioned ground. All that was in her backpack was a sweatshirt, a soccer ball, a notepad and pen for writing songs, a bunch of old gum wrappers (with 2 packs of fresh gum), and her ipod. She wondered how that could feel so heavy. Trying to get rid of some weight, she stuffed her ipod into her pocket and put her sweatshirt on. She really liked this sweatshirt. It was old and grey, slightly torn, but still as comfortable as ever. She pulled the thick hood over her eyes and tugged at the long sleeves. If she had been lying down she would have already fallen asleep. Her eyes started to get heavy. It had been a long day of traveling. She sighed and slipped her backpack shoulder strap onto one shoulder and waited for Miss Souris to open the door.

The knocking pulled her from her reverie. "Ah, one moment!" she called out to whomever was on the other side of the door. Anxiously she cleared a path on her desk to make room for anything her guest might have to set down. Once the desk looked somewhat orderly, Annabelle rushed over to the door to greet her guest.
Immediately, she recognized it was a student. "Oh, welcome! Are you here for registration?" The girl seemed weighed down, both mentally and physically. This calls for some tea or biscuits. "Come right in and have a seat! We'll have everything sorted out in no time." Anna flashed a warm smile, her eyes full of the kindness she always seemed to posses s she stepped aside for the young woman.

The woman who opened the door seemed much too cheerful and young to be a teacher, but Sam just smiled and answered the woman's question. "Ah yes, registration," Sam returned the warm smile, "You're Miss... Souris, right?" Sam looked around and noticed the womans quaint (and overfilled) office. Miss Souris seemed like a nice enough person. She hoped all the people here were this nice.

"Yes, yes I am! Miss Annabelle Souris. Here, this chair should be open..." But the one place for Sam to sit down was inundated with yet another stack of books. Anna scooped those up, nodding towards the now open seat, but could only find the newly cleared desk to place the stack. It would have to do. "Would you like some tea or something to eat while I look over everything?" she asked. "Ooh, but before you answer that, may I have your letter?" As nice as she was, there were moments when she forgot rather important things.

Sam giggled at the womans forgetfulness as she doug in her backpack for the green and white acceptance letter envelope. She found it after what seemed like a lifetime under a mound of old gumwrappers. She handed over the letter and sat down in the newly-cleared chair. "I would love some tea." Sam answered, using the good manners her otherwise useless mother had taught her. Sam had the manners of a proper lady but everything else she had been sure to let her mother down with. She smiled at her own thoughts as she zipped her backpack back up and let it fall by her feet, the only other clear space in the room.

"Ah, lovely!" Anna read it over quickly to glean the facts. "Well then, Miss Samantha Isabel Ackerman, allow me to welcome you to the Grove Academy!" She put the letter on top of a waist-high stack of novels before going over to a water cooler. Fetching a tea cup from a display shelf, Anna placed the cup under the red plastic pulltab, and released a stream of steaming water into the cup. Once she set that in front of Sam on a small area of clear desk, Anna went off to fetch her tea chest. "Now, there are a few things about the Academy that you must know about before you set out on your own... Ah!" The tea chest had been located, and was soon brought out ceremoniously to Sam. Inside was an array of single-packet tea bags, each sure to please.

Sam cringed when Miss Souris called her Samantha as that was what her mother called her. She soon recovered though when she saw the wide array of tea bags that Miss Souris had. That was one more thing she had picked up from her mother, a love of tea. Sam picked a promising packet and plopped it in her tea. "Please call me Sam." she said, really meaning it. "And as for the few things you must tell me, bring it on!" she giggled at the end.

She had to grin at her enthusiasm. "Alright then, Sam..." The first gesture was meant more as an indirect one, but turning her face to the side a bit, Anna tucked a large piece of hair behind her ears, which would not have been so odd had they not had the distinct point of an elf. "You will hear about a building called the Gateway house... but you are never to go inside of it, for your own safety." I do hope that wasn't too shocking. Anna stood off a little bit to gauge the reaction her first maneuver had upon Sam.

Sam was suprised at the sudden change of mood. And the abruptness of Miss Souris's answer. She noticed the unusual point in Miss Souris's ear, but decided to not say anything. She was also curious why she couldn't go to the place called the gateway house, but she knew it would be considered rude to ask. Still she didn't know what to say. "Uhmm... okay?" she said, showng her confusion without being too rude. "Is that, uhmm all?

"Not quite. You must also try to avoid the Oak and Keystone dorms." Anna giggled a bit at the past years of mishaps. "The boys at Oak enjoy their personal space while the... students.. at Keystone like their privacy. You'll find out on your own, I'm sure, but better you have fair warning, eh?" From a drawer behind her desk, Anna procured a tin of cookies and biscuits. "Would you care for some? It's a busy day today," she said with a grin.

Sam realised she must have looked confused but she continued with her manners and tried to keep a straight face. "yes, of course. And I'd really love a cookie, I traveled quite a way to get here with little food along the way." she said, just as her stomach growled rather loudly. "Breakfast is a very important meal." she added as she grabbed 2 sugar cookies from the tin. "thank you." she smiled again. She had done quite a lot of smiling in this office.

Anna raised a hand to her mouth as she laughed. "Sugar cookies aren't much of a breakfast! Which reminds me... You'll need to visit Moliné for your uniforms once you've settled in. There's a lovely little inn where you can get some fabulous food. But of course you'll want to settle in before venturing out!" Once again, she ventured behind her desk to fish out a small packet which she then handed to Sam. "You'll be staying in Maple Dorm, in room 103. Here are your keys. And, feel free to make it your home! Without tearing any walls down, of course."

Sam laughed and answered, "Real fabulous food at a nice inn sounds like a good breakfast. I'll check it out on my way to get the uniforms. And I'll try not to knock down any walls when I redecorate the space." Sam giggled some more as she took the packet. "Well goodbye, I'll see you around campus." Sam smiled and headed towards the door.
