User ImageHelios emerged from the shadows, his eyes looking rueful at the signs of signs of an incoming storm. The thought of rain placed a damper on his spirits, a probable trait of the wind blood flowing through him. The storm appeared to be likely occurrence, since much of the forest animals had been tucked away, obviously warned and taking heed of the warning had scurried themselves into hiding. The chilling bite of the early winds that carried a vague sense of disorder. The rustling of leaves caught his attention, and the bend of trees were already warning signs indicating the extent of the coming storm. Darkness settling upon the land, the scent of rain drifting in the air while a mist swept the lands leaving it somber .

Brushing aside the sense of discomfort he felt, he tucked in his disorderly hair with a nudge of his wingtip, wondering where his furry friend had gotten off to. "Artemis?" He called out, his voice swallowed by the black depths of the forest. His eyes trailed over the forest, as he strode across the path. This task would be easier if the fog had not settled, but that couldn't be helped. Perhaps, Artemis had other business to attend to, although Helios couldn't recall a mention of that.

"..Odd." Helios murmured, as he watched the dark clouds gather on the horizon. An unsettling feeling nagged at him, Helios's brows furrowed in at the unfamiliar feeling. He debated going back towards the teepee, but the weather conditions made flight impossible. The path to his home was not overly far, but to call it near was a exaggeration. "I suppose that walking would do no harm." He allowed himself, tilting his head to view his option of paths. The middle path won out, steering clear of the dense forests that occupied his surroundings since getting lost particularly, wasn't on his agenda. Helios made a move to leave for the path, hoping that his friend had indeed, found a way home.

What little luck the faithful white alicorn held in his sturdy body and strong heart, for on the same path tread a dreaded creature--tales of its history whispered in shadows, only spoken of with paranoia and fear, and it was not very often that one came upon such a thing without getting through the ordeal alive.

And so, it would have surprised the most confident of soquili to come upon one such as the white-furred youth stepping onto the marked path; it was not the silvery hair, nor the red and blue accented items, nor the magenta cheek and wrist stripes, nor the prussian blue mark of a moon on the forehead of the presumably small colt that gave away its ferocity, but with one quick glance, one would be able to draw upon an unsettling feeling coming distinctly from the youth. Perhaps it was something in his golden bright eyes filled with an unnatural look, his sharp cloven hooves, or his stoic impression on the environment that stirred an innate fear within oncoming strangers.

Bold steps dominated the ground before the white youth, and a solid expression of carefully placed disregard yet resentment of the field displayed naturally. For him, the cloaking shadows of the forest did not suit him any more than a dip in the frozen sea. That, and filth often lurked within the shadows--something he'd rather not bother wasting time on. Pride and willingness to show itself, to traverse wherever normal things went, made this youth enjoy observing what the less darkened places the terrain had to offer, and, should anything get in the way...

A well learned individual would avoid the white colt's view and attention, but if it had been too late, it would have been even smarter to pretend petrification, and await the treacherous scene to pass, if luck willed it. However, luck, skill, and knowledge of what it did best seemed to come instinctively to the threat, and those were all the odds needed for the predator to immediately know the imminent stranger closing in, and so the colt nonchalantly continued on the path in silence.

Helios's red eyes flickered at the figure of another in the shrouded mist that hovered around them. He had presumed the path was devoid of life, yet it appeared that his assumption was wrong. Judging from the height and size, Helios could only assume that it was a foal. His wing tip rustled uncomfortably at the shadowed figure before Helios called out,"Why, little one, would you venture out on such a dismal afternoon?"

Approaching closer, the blurred figure came into focus as Helios discerned his appearance, the difference obvious from the other soquili that he had chanced upon in his encounters. The pale furred colt had captured Helios's attention, as he instinctively stepped back from the colt, his horn pulsed with a faint golden glow. On inspection, it was neither the surroundings, or his appearance that inspired such a negative feeling, but rather his demeanor. Even his expression displayed a line that seperated between a foal or an adult, perhaps even hinting at his experiences. He seemed to distort even the air around him, the darkest of shadows receding from his small form. Even nature had taken caution against the frightening creature, Helios feeling the hairs on his neck rise. Each of these occurances formed a ominous combination, although Helios could not fathom why this was so.

A feeling creeped into the heavy atmosphere, laden with a burdening weight that suffocated the white alicorn. Under normal circumstances, Helios would have called out to the foal, but an instinctive feeling prevented him from doing so, chooosing to remain in his current spot on the trail. Instead, he chose to observe the skies,, a worried sigh escaping his lips as he realized that the storm would not be merciful, or short in coming. Almost as if it had been invited by something other, a presence, possibly.

It felt the eyes come upon him, and it heard the voice that followed the gaze. What little others knew...

The youth kept his silence and usual pace as the alicorn closed in, and gave nothing away, but then something curious happened. Perhaps by virtue of essence, the alicorn sensed his being, and withdrew into a cautious stance. Though it was neither good or bad for the colt, it surely made things a lot more interesting...

It was too late for the alicorn, for he had already engaged the youth with his bellowing into the mist prior to encounter. He was close now--close enough to make a leaping strike at, should the youth feel like it. But he simply stopped, inspecting the alicorn that had seemingly had his head in the clouds suddenly, pondering about the weather. With the alicorn, the youth tilted his head upwards as well, not particularly taking note of anything--not even the presence of darkening storm clouds overhead. He wondered when the alicorn would stop and look back.

"Why did you stop walking," he offered in an eerily passive voice, eyes and head still held upwards, like the alicorn's.

His gaze dropped downwards, to gaze upon the white pelt of the foal. "I wonder why indeed?" Helios tried to make light of the comment, offering little more than a half hearted smile. Somehow, he could not muster up his usual affable nature that he used often with strangers. Something, a feeling tensed up his bodies while his muscles protested.

Something warned him, the foal's tone perhaps, that Helios had taken a grave error in doing what he had done. Repressing his instincts, but he did not make any further advances to breach the distance between the two. "I believe I inquired as to why you were out in such a dismal day?" He had no desire to hear the colt speak once again, with a voice that chilled one to their bones. However, he could not be sure of his analysis .. or if the atmosphere had clouded his thinking into making more of the colt than what he was.

Shaking his head with an almost imperceptible shake, as if to clear away the thoughts that clouded his mind, Helios forced himself to meet the foal's gaze head on. "Many in your situation would find much more comfort in someone else's company." Himself included, Helios thought ruefully to himself.

The colt turned his head back from the clouds, locking his fierce gaze on the alicorn male. The idiotic reply was enough to make the foal recognize the worthlessness of the stranger, and thus need for elimination from the world--but it also enough to let him wait a little longer out of any resemblance of pity. The smile that came from the alicorn definitely was a wrong move, and the colt wished to remove it at once, for there was nothing amusing about the situation--at least on the stallion's side.

He paused as he took in the alicorn's query, and was silent for the few moments that he let pass by. It was far too early to give himself away now; perhaps there would be a few... enlightening moments prior to the future that would humor him. And who knows whether the alicorn would deem himself worthy of a free passage alive?

"I see," the white foal finally said. "But perhaps today is not so 'dismal' as you would think? And perhaps you erred in calling me 'little one', because you instead could be the one fatter than normal."

He noticed when the stallion was able to greet his eyes, and he narrowed his own. What perceptively early false courage he displayed! "Comfort in company?" The colt had to keep himself from a small chuckle, "Are you finding comfort in my company, then?"

To add a touch to his question, he then started taking slow, small strides towards the alicorn stallion, closing in on what distance the other could have used to possibly escape freely.
