Sunset. It was the time when the world began to fall into the land of slumber. The heat of the day stayed locked in the moisture of the air, however, and made sleep difficult for the young foal. Her feathered wings twitched at her sides as she struggled to get comfortable in the soft grasses that served as her bed. ‘Stay here and I will return with food for you.’ That’s what her mother had said but that had been long before the sun had dipped down to the horizon.
Irritation from the heat, the wait and the hunger in her stomach was beginning to invade her mind. The pupils in her golden green eyes began to shrink into feline like slits. A smile that seemed more like a wolf barring it’s teeth spread across her face and she stood.

Black wings beat up and down as the purple haired stallion flew across the sky. Things had taken a turn from bad and weird to worse and bizarre all in a very short time. Carmine had always been leaving his side when she was younger and wouldn’t be back until he hunted her down. As she got older she became harder and harder to find until he finally decided he wasn’t going to find her. She was old enough to be on her own.
Not long after, just as his life was returning to normal, she showed up again. This was the moment his life flipped once again. It didn’t really surprise him, but she had been pregnant. He was going to be a grandfather. Nothing said old nobody like having grandchildren.
With a shake of his head he focused his attention on the ground. He was looking for a certain spotty stallion. He hadn’t seen Ayden in ages but he could trust the kid not to laugh at him or blame him like most others he knew. He could also trust that the kid would have no idea what was going on and would know some way to blow off some steam. As he looked he noticed something a bit strange. A small foal standing alone. It wasn’t often that one saw a child alone, especially not at this time of night.
Curious he tilted into a slight dive and landed. From the ground he could make out a few more things about the foal. Small black and gold wings, that it was a girl, and that she was thrashing her head about like she was fighting something. “Hey kid’re you alright?” He asked stepping forward cautiously.

Alone. Alone. All alone. She repeated this over and over in her head as she started thrashing about. She didn’t want to be alone. She wanted to be asleep with her mother, fed and cool. She didn’t like this. Didn’t like it at all. She growled and started to sway her head slowly back and forth and as the seconds passed she moved faster and faster until her movement was completely erratic.
A voice broke into her inner monologue and she stopped suddenly. She didn’t know this voice. It was male. She knew only two males; her father and her brother. This voice didn’t belong to either of them. That made him an unwanted visitor.
“You will leave.” She snarled not looking up at the stranger. “Or you will pay...” This was the only warning she would give him and he was lucky to get any warning at all.

He froze as the foal froze. Something was seriously wrong here. She looked completely normal, just like an average wind foal. A perfectly normal golden foal, with blonde hair, blonde hair that looked eerily familiar. He eyed the child a bit nervously then shook his head. It was just his imagination, couldn’t possibly be anything else. She was just some weird kid. Maybe she had some kalona blood in her somewhere.
Her voice, however, made him think twice. There was no way this kid was normal. Normal kids did not make threats like that and honestly it pissed him off. “Look, I’m just trying to help.” He said marching over. She may not want him there but something was up and he was going to figure out what, freaky child or not.

Closer. Why would he come closer? She didn’t want him there. Hey really had to go.
She snapped her head up and met the gaze of the stallion before her. Golden green eyes sparkled madly with childish delight. She laughed cheerfully in a way that could likely stop a kalona in it’s tracks.
“Warned you.” She said joyously as her tiny wings spread wide. The black in the feathery appendages just didn’t suit the rest of her appearance but certainly reflected who she was. A wide smile crept to her face and in a flash she charged, head low, aiming for the large stallion’s chest.

A sudden horror washed over the thief as their eyes met. They were a different color, yes, but he would know those eyes anywhere. “Krad...” he muttered staring at the child as she seemed to lose whatever was left of her mind. Her laughter sent chills down his spine and he took a small step backwards. It didn’t do him much good and in a short moment she had moved. He stepped to the side quickly managing to avoid everything but her wing.
If things were slightly different he would have found the whole situation amusing. It wasn’t every day you got attacked by something half your size. The fact that this was most likely a child of his enemy of sorts accompanied by the fact that she was quite serious took the humor straight out of things. He had no intention of fighting a kid even if she had started it.
Dark spread his wings and took to the skies before the kid would be able to make another move. “I’m outta here!” He called down to the little crazy one before heading back the way he came. Things had just gone from worse to a complete hell and he had no idea what to do.

The small filly skidded to a halt before turning about for another go. She snarled again to see him rising into the air. No! He wasn’t going to get away! She beat her still unused wings a few times and leapt trying to get into the air. Her failure rang out with a loud thud as she crashed back to the ground. She lifted her head to stare at the retreating blur and slowly her eyes began to return to normal.
“Coward.” She grumbled getting back to her feet. Her stomach growled at her as she stood and she glared down at it. “Be silent!” She ordered before returning to her patch of grass. What was taking her mother so long? She was hungry now.
