Okay, so ive lived in the same this house for 4 years We dont know who livd here before, and we have a tree in the front yard, and its always been normal.
And this year our front yard tree is GROWING CHERRIES. For the first time.
I've looked up odd fruit baring traits, and i cant see where a cherry tree might be one of those.
I'm wondering if we'll get them again next year, of if we'll have to wait another amount of years n_n
Anyone have ideas why this tree is giving fruit now? Should i eat them? haha x3

Are you sure they're cherries??
Cherries here in Missouri bear fruit in June. Seems odd that you would have cherries this late, if at all. You might want to check for sweet cherries and see what zones they grow in. They also have to be old enough to bear, and most standard fruit trees are several years old before they bear fruit, and will not bear fruit at all without a different variety to pollinate them. There are some sweet cherry varieties that are self-fruitful, but they are a small percentage.
Smash one and see what it smells like! biggrin But do your homework, too.
Oh, I hope they're self-fruitful sweet cherries! That would be great!!!
Stranger things have happened--the past two years, my lilacs have bloomed in October!!!

Oh okay, i'll smell one tomorrow, whatever they are, they dont look edible yet. And we assume they're cherries. We didn't plant the tree, hell we didn't know it bared anything other than green leaves O_o

Yeah, your traditional cherry tree typically comes to fruit in early summer. It's possible you have a tree that has a similar type of fruit - or maybe your weather patterns have tricked it into bearing out of season.
It may have just reached maturity, or maybe the soil and the general area have finally become its preferred habitat - this would explain why it didn't bear before.

sunsetsmile Well? What's the verdict? They taste sour, and not good AT ALL. Though they are looking more cherry like.

My mom's old boyfriend had a plum tree and it bloomed once really early and once in the very late Summer.. No, there are no blooms yet. Just very leafy and pretty :] It's a good 'reading under the shade' tree XD Man when i kind of peeled some of the exterior off, and tasted it, i had to brush my tongue 3 times to get that taste off XD

PiercedPixie2 sunsetsmile Well? What's the verdict? They taste sour, and not good AT ALL. Though they are looking more cherry like. There are sour cherry types and sweet types, the sour types are good for cooking. The glace cherries in tubs are sour, cooking types in lots of sugar! I don't know of any poisonous/inedible fruits that look like cherries so they probably are! Our cherry tree only had fruit on it a month or so ago (which the birds got as soon as they ripened!), so it might depend on the climate you are in. It certainly should have bloomed first though..I didn't think any fruit trees set fruit without flowers first! Are you able to post a pic of it?
