stars shine through glass alone

brothers laugh in distant flight
dragon-lords, divine bond
jewels of the Crown

through star-touched scales
dare mortals enter
this dance, sacrosanct?

so many gods, shining
a million lights in court around
the Crown enthroned

and yet I seek the stars
for I would explain eternity
and break myself to bits
on scales and vast spaces
