Taking the key out of her pocket where it had stayed since the headmaster had given it to her, Shadow opened the door to her room. This was the first time she had glimpsed it, having been busy with Muse.

It was beautiful, and she saw that all her things were already here and unpacked. No doubt taken care of by her uncle. He hadn't wanted her to forget anything as she was likely to have done. "Thankyou uncle, how I do wish you were here." The whisper sounded lonely in the large room and the woman sat on the bed for a moment. It was a moment of clarity, one of the few times she could see her life and everything else clearly. Why here father? Why? Must I really be a tool for you to use? Is this my only worth in all the realms? Perhaps it was, but she musn't resign herself to despair. Pouring a glass of a special wine, she sipped it a few times and then set it aside to change.

The black dress was put away in a hamper to be washed while a summer dress of a deep purple replaced it. Leaving her hair down, she decided to head back to town.
