Makali yawned deeply, having just woken from under a tree that he'd chosen as his shelter. The male didn't really have a place right now, having left his parents' den and not yet found one of his own. Although, he was going to go with Wingu sometime soon to harass Chokuto, just to see if they could steal some luck and find ones for themselves. Until then, Mak was stuck sleeping under the stars. He stretched and padded a little bit away lethargically while his mind woke up as much as his body. The grey male clumsily dunked his muzzle into the water and got a drink before simply sitting up and looking out of it.

Sniffing around, a dark furred lion moved cautiously. Two-toned eyes scanned the horizon as he followed the scent of water. Leaving his den, to allow time for his mate and cubs to be alone with each other, it was too much too soon for some that he just shows up and says he is staying. Ears lowered, he reflected on his failures.

Shaking his massive white mane, he pushed the thoughts off; it would do him no good. As well, the scent of both water and a lion drifted in the winds. Tensing a bit, he observed the unknown lion, and smoothed himself down as he got closer. Remembering where he was, he called to the lion, "Greetings." Slowly, he moved to the side, to get a tongue full of the thirst quenching water, though he was giving attention to the other lion. After all, he was greatly thirsty but not to the point he would ignore anyone.

Makali almost jumped at the voice of another lion. He truly hadn't fully woken up, all of his senses were dulled, including his prank-pulling side. He'd see, though, if he couldn't wake himself up.

"Hey there," he said as enthusiastically as anyone who was still half asleep could manage. He dipped his head and rubbed at his eyes with his paws for a moment before returning to an upright position, slightly more awake. "You from around here?" He asked, making small talk with the black-and-white male. He noted mentally that the male looked like he could be related, but the fact that he was a complete stranger pushed that possibility from the male's mind. They both had different-colored feet. "Oh, my name's Makali, by the way," he said as he finally started to fully wake up.

His two toned eyes rose a moment when his greeting was returned. Going back to drinking the water until a question was asked of him. Lifting his head up, water dribbling from the fur of his chin, he responded, "I was born here, but just recently returned." Sated from what water he got, the large male settled into sitting, looking over the other lion. Because he knew nothing about his family, besides the little he remembered of his mother during their escape from the plague affected Pridelands, he naturally wondered about every lion he passed paths with.

Rather then look for long distanced family in everyone he met, the lion tried not to for his own sake. It did Shiri a lot of good to meet her mother, however, still having issues with the pridelands because of what happened to his mother and siblings, searching for family wasn't was he decided to be smart.

Returning the action of giving names, the dark furred lion responded, "Nice to meet you, Makali, I am Kei." Besides the King, and his own family, this was the first encounter he had with another pridelander. It was the best way to learn more of his new home as well, to get to know his fellow pride members. It was a fair guess the lion he was talking to was a pridelander, unless extreme lack of water or food elsewhere or just traveling through lions.

"Good to meet you too, Kei," Mak said. "So if you've returned, you've been away? What's it like, where you went?" he asked curiously. The farthest out he'd ever been was the gorge, which was still safely within Prideland borders. He'd always wondered what was out there, but never enough to actually go out and look. "Must've been kind of exciting, right?"

But the male could understand why Kei would return. Makali wasn't sure that, if he ever left, he could avoid coming back. He had too many friends here, not to mention his family. No, he couldn't go away and never come back either.

Kei smiled slightly when the other said it was good to meet him. He supposed everyone said that, slandered in conversations. Thinking about his journey, he wondered how to phrase it right. Right now, he still thought of the rogue lands being the place for him, even if his past and family were here. "My mother took my brothers and I away from the pridelands when I was very young, it is all I have ever known." He missed his brothers dearly, and his mother. Was it really the best choice to leave, he wondered now.

Either way, his cub hood was hard but not impossible. "The roguelands where I lived were dangerous, and often very lonely, but it was beautiful. There I could travel anywhere, carefully see lands that were prides to others. I have seen bodies of water so huge there was no end in sight, massive jungles and all sorts of wonders. It may not be a safe place to be, but there is plenty to see." While not to glorify it too much, the leaders might not be happy if he talked members into leaving to explore, there was hardly a better way to answer the question.

"Sounds like an awesome place to visit," he said, trying to picture in his head what those places might look like as they were described. But at the thought of loneliness, he knew it would be unbearable for him. Mak needed others around to have any sort of fun, be it playing pranks or collaborating on the planning and execution of one. "But I don't think I could live there. Too many people I'm close to here, you know?"

A thought popped into his head just then. He looked to his left, then to his right, a sly grin spreading across his muzzle before he turned back to the lion before him. "So Kei, what do you do for fun?" It seemed, to Mak, that this guy would be good to take bird-scaring.
