Yeah no kids this week until Saturday ...Oh I needed a break believe me from the phone ringing all hours of the night and day !!!!! She is playing the sax in her high school marching band ... I am just glad she is out in the world doing something besides sitting here talking to a s**t head whom i don't like at all .... The funny thing is that she told him she was going and he couldn't do a dam thing about it ... It's about time she got a back bone !!!!

My Rachel is a flute/trumpet/drumline percussion/colorguard person. She plays flute for concert band and trumpet for jazz, then she's thrown into percussion when needed. This is aside from her rifle duties in the guard. Believe me with all of the hats she wears I more than understand what you mean about ringing telephones. xp The goddamn thing is never for me.
Rach just got back from a week at band camp. I dunno what you paid, but her tuition was 600 bucks. Believe me when I say that I bitched and complained about that for moooonths! But now that it's done and over with I'm glad we were able to let her attend because she learned SO MUCH! Plus it'll look good on a college ap. She's just entering her freshmen yr and the kid is already looking into available scholarships. I wish I could have seen my son as determined.
But back to band camp... I missed her like crazy. And I'm sure after a couple of days you are going to miss yours just as much. 3nodding

Man, your kids sound like they have it good. And, that they have a social life, which is healthy for kids (even if annoying to parents).
My parents were cheapskates and tightwads because when my brother could not play the sax when he was in band, they just assumed that I would give up whatever musical instrument I would be playing for band. So I never could try out for band, even though I was a quick learner.
I'm glad you two don't assume your younger children are just facsimiles/shadows of your older children.
I instead, marched in flags during 8th grade.

Funny, I can see a lot of Crys in her. 3nodding She's turning into quite the beautiful young lady, mom. You must be very proud of her.
And lucky you. Our 600 went for a 1 week stay. xp If I start saving now it might not hurt so bad next year.
Thank you, Ariel. *hugs* My whole life I have strived to be the polar opposite of my mother. My mom was not the most supportive of mothers. If the activity was not something she was interested in then I just couldn't do it. As such, with my kids I am probably a bit too lenient. It's awfully hard to say no when broached with something that obviosuly means so much. But of course that only goes for safe and sane activities. When Rach first mentioned that she wanted to play the flute I wracked my brains trying to figure out how we were going to get her a brand new instrument. But I learned something from that experience... and that's if you really want something bad enough then not only will you work for it, but you find ways to make the dream come true.
Blah, blah, blah. I'm rambling.
Lisa out!
