I watched this movie when it came out in 1997, and is still one of my favorite films. However, I could never remember the title then....when I would speak of it to others I always referred to it as "the movie with the kung-fu kangaroos." After about 10 years I happen to find a copy at a garage sale.

Quote:
Plot-A young man, Ryan, suffering from a physical disability, wishes to fit in with the older kids from his school's football team. During an initiation rite, Ryan is swept away through a whirlpool to the land of Tao. There he is hunted by the evil Lord Komodo, who desires the boy in order to live eternally.
Ryan is rescued by the protectors of Tao, five humanoid kangaroos, each imbued with the five elements and virtues. Ryan learns a valuable lesson while saving the land of Tao.
There is also a sequel, Warriors of Virtue: The Return to Tao, made in 2002, but I haven't seen it yet.
