He still couldn't believe it. He was a father. He thought what Muli said as his blue eyes watched the children that he had yet to meet. Of corse he met them. He knew which cub had what name, but he didn't know any of them. What they liked, what their relationship was with their mother and their siblings.

Really, what he wanted to know was if any of them liked him. He hadn't known how long he had missed out on their lives, but he wanted to make up for it. He wasn't about to advance on the cubs, he'd wait on them to come to him.

User Image The young mix-breed was on the hunt. He kept his front low to the ground, his paws inching inexorably closer to a pouncing position, his backside arched and high in the air. His tail flicked almost impatiently as he watched his prey, waiting for the moment to strike. It came in a heart beat and he was in motion, leaping with precision toward his target. Landing in a cloud of smoke, he quickly lifted his paws to see his catch.

The bug fluttered away, leaving Risasi, paws splayed from a less than graceful landing, looking dazed and disappointed. The dust settled around him and he plopped down into a sitting position, all but pouting as he came to the conclusion that he was an awful hunter.

Looking up briefly, he caught sight of a familiar blue color. At first his young mind imagined his own clone, though the body was far too big to belong to a copy of the cub. He knew instinctively that it was his father, even as his conscious mind turned its first idea aside. Standing, the cub pranced over to the much larger creature, having never really had the opportunity to speak to the male that gave him half his genes.

"Uhm?" was all he could think to say, standing timidly a few feet away from the big blue cat.

Chukua's ears turned to the sound, and when his eyes met with the cubs, a smile appeared on his face. He was definitely his son.

He positioned himself to lie on the grass so he was eye level with the cub. "Yer Risasi, the youngest right?" His southern accent he picked up from the humans was thick his words.

When he mentioned that he was the youngest, Chukua was making sure he had the ages right for all of his cubs.

Risasi nodded slowly, watching as Chukua moved to meet his eye. It bothered the cub that his father had to lay down just to speak to him face to face, a fact made even more potent when he was labeled as the youngest. If that was how his father remembered him, it was a blow to the young cub's pride. He did not want to be small forever, and promised himself silently that he would be bigger than his dad one day.

"I'm Risasi, yeah," he said in a soft, but well projected voice. He smiled vaguely, unnerved but content in finally having a chance to talk with his dad. It would have been nicer to plan a meeting, particularly since he was just coming off a failed hunt, but it was better than nothing. So long as Chukua had not seen the bug escape, "and you're my dad!"

Tilting his head, he sniffed, "what're you doing?"

His smile faded for a moment when he asked his question, "What d'ya mean Son?" He asked, the name slipping out. It felt strange even though he had used it on many other young cubs that he had met in his travels.

He felt a little bad. The way Risasi was acting made him feel like he was unwanted. Maybe he was just being paranoid and he was just nervous. After all, he was meeting his father for the first time. Chukua would probably act the same if he ever met his father.

Risasi frowned, miserable that he was such a failure at conversation. He hadn't meant anything more than to discuss something, so he had inquired after what his father was doing. Flopping his tail on to floor, he shook his head and tried to make up for it.

"I mean, today. What are you doing today? I don't want to make you late for something, dad, or waste your time..." he felt obligated to be respectful, nodding his head in a small bow as he thought about his next words carefully. No more misunderstandings, he told himself, "unless you want to play?"

His smile widened when he called him dad, and his heart lifted when he was asked to play. He then looked down, his heart overfilled with joy that the little boy would talk to him let alone want to play. He glanced back up to him, "Son, from now on the only thing I'd be late for is you and your siblings growing up. I already missed out on a part of your life. I don't want to miss anything else."

Risasi was glad to see his dad smile. He really wanted to have a good relationship with the adult that looked so similar to him, in hopes that his personality might rub of. Most particularly, Risasi wanted to see if Chukua was brave and strong, and which of these traits he, the cub, might inherit.

Ears perked forward, fur slightly bristled from excitement, Risasi smiled as best he could without mewing with his sudden over flow of energy. He liked the promise his dad was making, and wanted to see if that meant Chukua would be willing to teach him things.

"Can we go practice hunting?" He asked, his words falling out of his mouth, "not real hunting, but for pretend? I'm not very good."

Chukua smiled and a little laugh came at the cubs sudden burst of energy. He lifted his back side into the air, and started to wave his tail from side to side. "What are we going to hunt?" He asked as he looked around, as if they were in a hunt.

He looked back to Risasi, "What do you see?" He said as he looked back around, ready to get to know his son a little better.

Risasi bounded a full circle around his dad before coming to a stop at his side, crouching down and flicking his tail in the air in a direct copy of his father's form. Ears flicking around, eyes darting to follow the sounds he was picking up, he tried to find something worth their time.

Looking at Chukua as he asked his question, Risasi felt even more compelled to find a target. But there did not seem to be anything near by, so he began to rattle off everything he literally saw, in hope that it would spark an idea, "rocks, grass, trees... bugs, and a bird over there. Oh, a bird! Do you think we could pounce that, dad?!"

Chukua watched his son. He really was like him, both in appearance and attitude. This made him smile even brighter. He still couldn't believe he was a father. And to already be playing with one of his kids made him even more ecstatic.

His ears perked as he was snapped out of his thoughts when Risasi mentioned the bird. He cocked an eyebrow, "Oh...I don't know Son. You can try, I don't even know if I could get a bird." He said as he blinked at the realization. He always had trouble with flyers. He looked down to his son and smiled, "But I believe you can do it."
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 8:58 pm

'I bet you can do it dad!" he said, trying to keep his voice down but having a hard time of it in his exhilaration. He looked up at his father with big, excited eyes, "I couldn't, I'm no good. I can't even get things that stay on the ground."

He wagged his tail, agitated now that so much energy had built up in his limbs. He crouched low, beginning to crawl his way forward, pausing before getting too far to look back at Chukua. "Come on, daddy! I want to see you get it! It's just a little bird, and if we're quiet it won't even know you're there, right?"

He knew the basic rules of hunting, of course, but he had never gotten any real lessons in the game. His instincts told him what to do, and he did well enough for his own purposes, but he knew he was by no means adept. If he could learn from his father, he was certain it would do a world of good for his own skill level. Plus, it would be fun to see what the older leopard could do.

Chukua looked towards his son and smiled lightly. Even with a bad eye he was still able to hunt. But to hunt a bird? That took two eyes. He couldn't remember if he told his children of his disability, but it never bugged him much, so he probably left it out.

He crawled up to his son, "You really think I can get it?" He asked and smirked, closing his blind eye, his brighter blue one glancing down at his little clone.

"I believe in you, daddy!" Risasi said exuberantly, truly excited by the prospect of seeing his dad hunt. Even if he didn't catch the bird, just watching him go after it would be exciting and interesting.

After all, they looked so similar, who was Risasi to think they would not be the same in other areas? Maybe they would hunt the same. Since Risasi did not know how he hunted, so watching Chkua promised to be enlightening.

"I'll do whatever you do! I'll help, just tell me and we can do it!"

He smiled brightly down at his son. Every time he uttered the word 'daddy' he couldn't help but beam.

He winked as he chuckled lightly, "Alright, watch closely." he whispered as he crouched lower to the ground and fixed his eyes on the bird. His ears stood straight, listening to everything around the bird.

He saw his moment, and unleashed the force that he stored in his hind legs and leapt into the air, reaching his claws out to the bird.

He caught the bird at the wing and dropped down on top of it, digging his teeth into the neck.

Chuk looked over to his son and smiled brightly, "Hey, I caught it." He laughed as he walked over to his son and plopped the bird in front of him.
