Terrie is a foxtaur new to the area. The first other taur she meets is Emris, another foxtaur. They introduced themselves and Emris has kindly offered to help Terrie search for a place of her own. Here they are in their search, coming up on a clearing…
Emris: ~grins happily~ I think so! ~up ahead just beyond the last few trees is a small clearing with a small area of a stream running next to it, a fruit tree and some berry bushes around the edge, and there are a bunch of wildflowers about~ This area is small, but pretty.
Terrie: Oh! *tilts her head, looking the spot over* I think it might be just a bit too small though. *pads over to the berry bush and plucks one, popping it into her mouth* Eep! *face scrunches up* Sour! Hoo!
Emris: ~chuckles at her expression~ I guess...we should move on then? ^^
Terrie: *shakes her head with a laugh* I think I'll leave these for someone else to enjoy! *continues along the path, which seems a little more overgrown than before*
Emris: ~laughs~ Alright. ~follows her now while making sure to keep alert for anything~
Terrie: This is looking better. Looks like not many others come through here. *hesitates* Um, if I may.... Is your home very far from here?
Emris: Actually...it's not far at all from here. I'm pretty sure...~looks around~ This leads to that one place and then to the back of where I live.
Terrie: Really? I hope the next spot is good then. ^_^ I'd like to live near my first friend. *pauses and plays with her hair nervously* Do you mind me calling you friend?
Emris: ~looks surprised but shakes his head~ I don't mind that at all! ~smiles yet grows silent~ ^.^
Terrie: *smiles brightly* Good! *moves forward with a hop in her step* It's odd... while I was travelling, I tried to stay away from others. But I've only been here a short time and I've already got a new friend. *smirks* Nice... but still odd.
Emris: I guess...we both did something odd compared to how we usually act. ~grins~ But we both are friends now because of it. So odd is very nice at times. ~laughs and finally notices that the trees are starting to thin out~

Terrie laughed with him. "That's true. Maybe we should do odd things more often!" She giggled softly before stopping short as they suddenly reach a clearing. "Whoa!" Terrie had just come upon a small clearing carpeted in thick green grass. There is an odd tree off to one side, with thick sweeping branches like a willow, except the leaves are a soft red-ish tone. About six feet from the ground its trunk bends over creating a shaded “room.” A tiny trickle of a creek runs through the other end of the open space. She stared in awe before turning back to Emris with a big smile. "I think I found it!" She beamed, walking forward to look closer.

"Great!" Emris looked about the clearing with a bright gaze. It certainly was nice and pretty. The tree definitely caught his attention and the foxtaur walked towards it. "Interesting..." His fingers trailed up the bark. It'd been a while since he'd seen a tree that would even kinda resemble it.
He smiled and watched as Terrie looked around. He was truly glad that he had been somewhat helpful in helping her find somewhere to live. Now the next part he was thinking about would be building a home here. Emris was decent at carpentry...but still it'd be a bit before anything would be here.

Terrie was still smiling. It was so pretty here! She walked over to the creek and tilted her head at it. "This has got to be the smallest creek I've ever seen." She said outloud to herself, leaning down to grab the ground. "But the soil seems to be good." She stood back up, brushing her hands together. She padded over to the tree, peering around the trunk at Emris. "Thanks again, for helping." She played with one of the heavy swooped branches, walking into the shaded space. "This should do until I can build a house here. The weather's still warm..." He voice trailed off slightly. She didn't know how to build a whole house!

Emris listened and watched Terrie as she moved about talking. "You're welcome..." He began blinking, "But...can you build a whole house by yourself, Terrie?" His orange eyes darkened with worry as he looked about. Would she really try to build by herself? Emris hoped not...for it'd be a big task even with more than one person working at it.
Was this tree enough for her as well? It'd be fine on a regular warm night...but what if it stormed? 'Surely, it'll be fine...' He thought trying to be positive. After all he knew he tended to over worry about these things.

After his question, Terrie looked down at her toes with a slight cough. "Um... no. I don't even know where I'd start." She pawed at the ground, playing with her hair absentmindedly. "Traveling, I could make a small shelter to sleep. But, I want to stay here. A whole house..." Her hand moved from her hair to the branches, brushing down the leaves as a small smile grew on her face. "My own house." She bit her lip before peeking up at Emris. "Do you know anyone who could help with that?"

Trying not to grin, Emris nodded at Terrie. "I'm pretty sure that I know someone who might be able to help some." He scratched the back of his neck and smiled, "If you want me to that is..."
He was already thinking of the pile of wood around his house from where he had cleared fallen trees off of the trails those who lived near used. The pile had been getting quite high with Xennek's help and the foxtaur had been wondering about how to use it. 'This is great.' The excited thought ran through his mind as he stood there looking at Terrie. He hadn't helped any friends in a while, besides with books and maps. This was definitely a change from that.

Terrie looked fully up with suprise, but also a smile. "You would? You've already helped a lot by walking here with me... It'd be a great help." She put her fingers up to her mouth and looked around. Where should it go? With her fingers tapping her lower lip, she walked to the center of the clearing, looking back at Emris and the tree. Then she nodded. "Over there, right next to the tree. It'll keep this all open to run around in." She said excitedly, walking back over. "How will we get everything? What do we need?" Her tail swayed steadily behind her showing her delight in the task at hand.

"I'll definitely help you out." Replied Emris his gaze still bright. He watched as she figured out where to build her home and nodded. "That'll be an okay spot to put your home." The tree looked sturdy enough...no risk of it falling over.
"I've got supplies at my home..." Emris began slowly, "We can go there and make plans for your house." His tail twitched excitedly as he added, "I'll fix drinks and some food if you want even."

Terrie tilted her head and smiled. "You're so helpful. You should get out more often I think." She laughed. "But I guess if you did, you'd have been too busy to help me." She was about to deny the food, he was doing so much already, when her stomach gurgled. She blushed and put a hand over her belly. "Maybe some food'll be good." She chuckled.

Emris laughed with Terrie and replied, "Maybe." He smiled, "That's true as well...can't be everywhere at once after all." His eyes darkened, he had a reason for not getting out much...and so his laughing mood about such things suddenly somewhat dissolved.
But it wasn't more than a second later before Emris had a new grin on his face. "Sounds like it." He commented with a small chuckle. Motioning towards a small path across the clearing, the foxtaur began to move. "Let's go."

Terrie looked up with a smirk, and then her eyes windened ever so slightly with concern. She had seen his eyes this time. Had something upset Emris? But his quick change into a grin put her worry off to the side. "If anyone could be in two places at once, it'd be you Emris." She said lightly, following after him along the path with her tail swaying. "So... how long does a house take to build?"

Shaking his head, Emris gave a small chuckle. "If you think so, Terrie." He walked on and paused at her question. "I really...well it depends." He finally answered looking back at her. "The size of your house definitely affects how long it'll take to build. So I really can't give you an answer for the time."
His eyes flicked back in front of them and surely up ahead the trees were thinning out. Soon they'd come to the small stream and then would have to cross the small but ornate bridge. His home wasn't far away from that at all.

"I do think so." Terrie responded with a giggle. "Hmm. I wonder how big it should be..." She slowed her pace slightly as she thought. Used to searching for a space just big enough to fit herself into for a night or so, she was stumped as to how big she could make her own real house. And she had to think about the future too. She would hopefully make friends to invite over, needed space to have fun. 'I already have at least one friend to invite.' She thought to herself, looking over at Emris with a soft smile. And who knew what she would be able to keep in it?! All the things she had seen in her travels, remembering the old man's item congested house... There was so much to consider! She started skipping in her steps, positivly delighted about this new challenge.

Looking at Terrie with a soft smile, Emris gave her a suggestion. "Well...since its just for you right now. We can fix up a small cabin maybe with one guest room? Then there's your room, a cooking and eating area, and maybe a spare room for just relaxation?" Like his library at home. His eyes sparkled as he thought about his favorite past time, reading.
Stepping on the small bridge the foxtaur surveyed his home. The grass was just barely moving like emerald ribbon in the breeze while the stream lapped gently at the bank. Water lillies and small wildflowers decorated the yard and so did the small, sweet, berry bushes around the bridge. Just serveral feet past that was his house. It was made of sturdy light brown wood, and had a small porch up front which was decorated with several candles in diferent colored glass orbs. An ivy creeped up around the banisters but the overall look of the house was bright and inviting.
Already Emris could smell the faint scent of peaches from around the back where his small pond of small goldfishes were. There by the pond was his favorite resting and reading spot, under the three weeping willows that gave good shade.
(Sorry for taking so long. ^^; )
