I think we're all a bunch of pretty creative people, so i wondered - what inspires you? Is it a particular sound, piece of music, smell, view, sight or even taste? Or touch?

For me, with writing mainly, Nine Inch Nails music inspires me - it seems to work really well as background music since it's that level of instrumental/repetitive/atmospheric sort of music, yet with enough singing and lyrics in it not to bore me. Plus I tie Trent Reznor's voice to one of my characters in the story I'm trying to write, and it has the sci-fi vibe that ties in with the sci-fi genre of my story.
Incidentally, it's also great to wash the pots to-haha
Genrally I think music's the most inspiring to me. Like I also have different sets of music off my playlist that help inspire me for different locations in this story - like Lacuna Coil and System of a Down have a sort of sound that inspires the Desert in me, so It helps me write when i'm wirting about a location in a desert. Within Temptation and Evanescense (as well as lacuna coil) come out when i'm wirting about angels. I've linked david Draiman's singing voice to my version of Satan (it's just the right mix of rock, pomp and actual musical effort in singing that makes me think of falen angels), so i usually listen to Disturbed when i'm writing anything set in Hell. Or Avenged Sevenfold, since I also linked M Shadow's voice ot one of my demons. Then there's AFI and Blaqk Audio for when I'm wirting about Gabriel (angel) since I think Davey Havock's singing voice is the closest you can get to asexual/androgonous-haha. It's how I visualise how Gabriel speaks anyway.
When I'm wirting my Grim Reaper character, Nine inch Nails usually comes on again for that unearthly quality (esp the song 'beside you in time'), or I pop on 30 seconds to Mars since I link the singe'rs voice with Death's voice (yet again going for fallen angel-ness, but softer this time and sadder).
Paramour and Jakalope make me think of the main caharcter, who's a young teenage girl.
And then there's always a dose of nightwish for any more dramatic-fantasy style scenes.

And also, should i ever get back around to writing my vampire story, HIM will be happily dusted off and played half to death, and i'll be getting full use of the 'queen of the damned' soundtrack-haha

Then here's when i'm roleplaying in Emania. When I play Felix, I'm usually thinking/listening to the TRAX - which is a Korean band who sound a lot like Linkin Park, but the korean language and how they sing makes me think of the language of the Moonmaw race. Then it's Hoobastank for him (esp the song 'the reason' and 'pieces'). When I also play Craban it's usually a mix of 'I am Ghost' and 'Panic at the disco' sicne they seem to reflect his varying parts of his personality.

Sooo....yup. Music's important, to me anyway. The good thing is that I love all these bands too, so it's a good excuse to listen to 'em as much as humanly possible -buwaha! Anyway, they inspire me in both writing and art. What about you?

Oh yeah, and a virtual cookie for whoever can tell me what film the poll-quote is from :3

((No cookie for Wizkitty..... crying She no know.))

Uh...Evanescence really inspires me, but then again, so do Vampire Knights, Tim Curry, various authors, various films, and chatting with random people.

I'd write more, but my brain is melting. =_= Sorry, looks like I sloshed...just step over that...more people slip on my brain-goo than on banana-peels.

Any christian rock to listen too, some raspberry-flavored iced tea, a couple good books nearby, dictionary.com open, and my notes(mentally) at hand. That's pretty much it summed up. That's only for writing, though. as for thinking... almost the same, just no dictionary.com open, nor books nearby. Chatting with people helps, too, when searching for ideas.
