Time escaped Ayelet Hashachar, the mare of the Morning Star's sunrise. The keeper of her time, Mizu, the stallion of the raging sea. Together they had faced the test of a bold hearts journey across the land. Fear and the threat of firey death, had failed to hold them back. Their destination, as they thought, was reached when they stood on the foot of the rocky mountains. Yet a true destiny was reached, when they began to wake to a love for each others. The Lady of the Sea, was clever indeed. A spirit with unfathomable wisdom. Only she could of known the possibility the two would have at happiness.

The two spent their days close to each others side, as any fresh couple does. Ayelet always giddy and lovestruck, Mizu always full of the deepest admiration, constantly protecting her like a true gentleman. Remaining at the mountains, explorations were made for both the lands around them, and the partners beside them. However, the Sleeping Giants soon became something more. Once the news was shared that she was expecting, the two new it would be the birth place of their family. It was a long trip home, one which they could of never made as safely as Mizu would of liked with more than one to protect.

So in the mountains the two remained. Keeping a low profile while the budding mother grew and rarely complained. They dreamed of their children, and names for each. Are there two? No, there are three! After counting the kicks from the growing lives inside, it was agreed that there were three! Bless the stars!

For Ayelet, the term was wonderfully easy. Daddy was a natural and abundantly stood by her side. When the time came for tiny foals to continue growing in baskets, life sped up to the beat of three.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sitting under the enclave that was deemed a safe spot for baskets, Ayelet nipped at the deepest blue basket, taking a liking to all, but this one, because it looked like her Mizu. The last few weeks had left her tattered with emotion. Doing her best to hide her longings, she sometimes weeped happy tears at the memory of having three little beings inside of her. Baskets were torture. Seeing them move and feeling them move, were two totally different experiences. She missed them greatly and would have herself become fat as a tee pee, if she could of kept them in her belly a little longer.

"How much longer?" came her soft voice as she looked over to Mizu, before laying against him. She had spent the last night in a half restless fit, and felt suddenly exhausted. A nap would be perfect right about now.

Inside the peach toned basket with golden current swirls, the small wonder listened intently to its surroundings. Hearing was this foals greatest gift so far, picking up on words like "Mother" and "Father". Though saying them seemed so difficult. Having been awake, bumping about most of the night, then napping in the early morn, the foal was wide awake. Thrashing about silently to adjust, the basket barely made any commotion.

Motherly energy snapped Ayelet to an upright position, checking on the moving basket. She smiled as it settled. "My Peach, my Apricot." It wouldn't be the foals name, but it did look like a round fruit. Checking on the third basket, which always made her think of calm waters reflecting the last seconds of the fading sun, she let out a deep sigh. There was more than pride for these three, this was their family.

The stallion was always in motion as if the water, his mistress lead him here and there patrolling the area. So much has transpired since they made that epic journey bringing them memories from all corners of their experiences. Brightness, darkness, and neutral occurrences had riddled their lives with so much time to reflect and grow with one another. Once a lonely stallion he chanced meeting her that day by the shoreline and retaliated with following his dream against his mother the sea. But after days and miles of moving from her caress he soon learned she welcomed his travel as long as her child would return someday.

Perhaps Ayelet had let the Great Lady acknowledge his goal, or perhaps she just knew his heart would be in a torrent if his curiosity wasn't sated. Whatever the case Mizu had set foot from the sands to the forests as he and his companion headed toward the unknown. Each step, donning the fluid breath he took reminded him how he was winning in his search. But his real shock of being alone was what opened his senses turning toward the mare he thought only as a companion into something more. Every sunset, twilight, to sunrise she was there. Always there and he felt... he felt the great flood gates open as the sea flowed outward and released her emotions.

He loved her.

Even when that b***h of a dragon had bared their way, he called upon that maelstrom within him to push her back towards the ground that seperated her vile ways and the sea. The great dragon was frightened... Yes dear Cynder you were afraid of the water lord as he pushed you back in your little charade. No longer would you confront the sea for she is grace and power that will sweep you away. Go disgruntled dragon, seek shelter from the storm in your wallowing cries.

He found her once more.

Upon reaching those great giants he finally released that feeling, the longing he had kept in the depths of his soul. His world would change forever more and even through this measure he knew life had just begun once more.

~*~*~*~*~

Now resting with that sunrise in his life he watched the three baskets with curiosity as each of his breaths savored anticipation to the foals' arrival. Three. The stallion was amazed three were born in that waking day he devoted his feelings to Ayelet. He knew not what being a father was life and yet the water inside him was stirring with each tiny movement of each basket.

Craning his head downward the gallant stallion nibbled on his love's forelock, "Indeed I do not know beautiful Ayelet. But if they carry colors of the sea and sky so patience from us shall bring them when they deem it worthy." His words were deep yet they flowed around her in concern feeling the need to calm her before the little mare got herself in a panic attack. Leaning in toward her he grunted letting his strong legs idly touch upon hers in reassurance as those deep moving orbs swayed each time movement was thought to be noticed.

Words. Oddly enough the filly lying within the serene blue basket could hear things though she didn't understand them just yet. It was starting to become cramped in those confines so she shifted slowly as to not bump her head. Day by day she smelled water as it passed back and forth outside. A clear yet distinct aroma of deepness and emotion. She longed to see these voices for she knew they were close to her somehow. But it was so dark in this place and it was uncomfortable. She snorted with a squeak as her little frame moved the basket a bit. She wanted to see, touch, smell and hear things that the filly only had an inking of going on. Butting her head she moved it again listening deeply hoping she could emerge and see things rather then hear them.

The stallion's senses flooded toward the blue basket as his ears swiveled toward the moving basket drenched in the hues of the sea. "You will be as I am I wonder. A flowing spirit my Mistress has granted me. Soon my mare of the sunrise... I sense it shall be soon." Leaning in toward the basket he blew outward in encouragement as a cool mist seeped deep inside to his waiting foal.

The third basket, coloured in the delicate shades of sunset and ocean, a perfect mix of the sea stallion and their mother, the sky mare, lay quietly beside its siblings as they shifted and moved. It was nothing unusual, this quiet stillness from the third delicate life, for rarely did the twilight basket make much noise. Deep within the warm darkness of the basket's interior, the little filly slumbered peacefully. The loving murmur of voices from outside soothed delicate ears, the warmth when one or the other of her parents was close allowed the tender foal to rest without worry or fear, knowing nothing of the outside world, only this assurance. The knowledge that everything was perfect with her world, love surrounded her a warm touch that eased away the odd moment of restlessness. The cool comforting scent of salty spray soothed her slumber, like the gentle rocking motions of the calm ocean waves.

Yet as the days slipped past, the deep contented slumber of the filly slowly loosed its grip. Her senses waking slowly to the awareness of life, the knowledge that she was not a part of that warmth, but a separate being. She had ears with which to listen to those muffled sounds of love outside, a nose to scent that delicate salty breeze, legs curled under a body that still protected the secrets of its hues in the darkness. A tickling at her rump revealed the fluffy tail there, and swivelling ears encountered the upright puff of mane that raced along the crest of her neck like the white spray atop the breaking wave.

Aware of herself the filly felt each limb slowly fill with the urge to move. Her ears flicked and strained to hear more of what was outside her dark, comfortable world. Eyes opened, seeking to see within the shadows of the basket. For the first time the slender filly moved, stretching out a foreleg till the delicate limb met the wall of her basket. The same was repeated with a hind leg, her hock bumping up against the wicker weave. Head next, lightly hitting the lid. Her world had edges, it was a certain size and not much bigger than she. Yet those voices outside, so filled with love and warmth, also held something that spoke of other. There was more than just the cradling darkness that soothed her slumber, more than the occasional breath of cool salty wind. Where did that wind come from? Who were the ones outside her world that showed her such love and temperance?

A new emotion filled the little filly, making her tail switch and limbs shift against the basket's bottom. Curiosity. Though she had no name for the new emotion, it proved far more bossy than any before it. Demanding she shift and press her forelegs against the sides of her basket, head lifting to nudge at the lid with her muzzle. What was out there? Who was waiting for her? Why was she aware?

A sudden need to know everything filled her. A need stronger even than the curiosity so recently awakened. Enough! She had slumbered quietly enough! Now was the time to find the answers to her questions!

The twilight-painted basket suddenly started to shift and move in a way it never had before, the sides bulged, the lid wobbled, as if it suddenly possessed a raging storm within and not a slumbering foal.

Insatiable hunger pulled at the mind of the sunset mare. Doing her best to let Mizu calm her, it took all her efforts not to spend every waking minute worrying and longing for her foals. She sighed as his cool breath touched her forehead. It rendered her helpless for a moment. It was the power his affections had on her. "Thank you." she called softly to him. This mare would always be thankful for even the tiniest amounts of love he showed towards her. She didn't ask for anything, yet he had given her his heart and soul. She loved him. It was a love she felt would never tire with age or time.

The heart inside her ached with pride, swelling up as she watched her sea-side Mizu, lean in close to breath on one of the baskets. It didn't matter if this was their first try at parenthood. Ayelet had so much hope and belief, that they could make it work easily. It didn't take much to reproduce, a mechanical act that any soquili could preform. Yet with her their love, she knew they would be the best they could be for their young.

Her body pounded with sudden anticipation as she watched the third dusk touched basket increasingly begin to rustle about. "Mizu!" she exclaimed in a loud whisper as she watched the basket. The look on her face glowed like the suns rise over the horizon. A shiver spread over her face, she was so resplendently eager. "My small one, it is your time." she said as she leaned in closely to the bumbling basket.

The small frame of the foal in the peach basket froze. Something was happening, but what? The tiny heart in its chest beat like the wings of a humming bird, its breath hard and fast. The uncanny desire to be close to the voices outside the abode, overwhelming quickly, like wild fire. The foal called out for the first time, a shrill muffled cry, that fell almost silent in it's basket womb. A soft familiar voice was heard, relaxing the foalish fears, but the desire to be close to that voice was still there.

Her heart almost burst as she heard a small cry from her peach. A flutter pulsed through her, letting a small sigh stutter out from her own lips. These beautiful noises had been more wonderful than she expected. "Do not be afraid." she spoke to their little one. Her gaze turned to meet Mizu's, her eyes glazed, and her smile strong. The love in her eyes was for the gift that he had given her. In that instant, if it was possible, she loved him even more. Nothing could compare, the moment was finally here! Arise children, like the suns first peek over the darkened night! Her heart soared like the eagle they had seen fly over the mountains so many times.

"Do we need to help them my Love?" her voice asked, reverberating with her happiness.

The colorful weave of the basket seemed only dark and scratchy from the inside. While they were speaking, the foal listened with what strength it could muster, the foal deemed it was not enough. Grunts were made, as it tried to pick it's hooves up, one popping through the baskets side. Recoiling the hoof like it had touched ice, the foal held its breath for a second. The ray of soft light that escaped into the basket, captivated him. It was....more than words it knew, could describe. The golden eye of the foal, carefully pulled towards the light, trying to look outside. The hole just wasn't big enough. With a few more grunts, a nose could be seen trying to push its way out of the hole.

Ayelet let a fit of giggles escape her. "I think this one is taking the hard way out." she grinned at the hole in the basket, before turning to eagerly watch the others.

Mizu's eyes were on the one that soothed his soul, yet his heart was as fluid as the element that he was born from. These movements and noise made him soar like that eagle he glanced upon before. The awakening of sea and sky was resting within three baskets, and as dawn arrives each day bringing new light, so would these three. Blowing out again in a great rush of deep breath he let the inner foal feel the surroundings of the ocean seeping inward. The foal would respond to his call if it was as flowing and free as it's parents. They only needed to wait and see what trickled from all three baskets.

The filly paused feeling another breath that flowed around her warm yet cool and misty awakening her senses. She squeaked with a snort and tried again to lift the lid shaking the basket like a little wave. Her ears swiveling, listening, wanting outward rather then inward. Just a little more and she would finally be in that other place...

The great stallion kept an eye on the water basket but his trained watch was actually on all three. Each were stirring in their own way though it seemed the one his love admired most had already started revealing the hidden gem inside. The strong little features in his face and coat signaled the water lord his firstborn was a colt. Grunting he nudged the blue basket sensing his little bird inside stirring even more as it bumped the lid with a bit of energy. This one was quite spirited and full of vigor as was the deeper pinkish one beside the blue. For a moment he pondered the genders then scolded himself. No. I will let them show me who they are. I will ponder things later. Tossing his head he spoke to the blue with a rush in his voice, yet the sound was smooth and deep as if they rode the tide when she settled back out to sea, "You are a lucid wave of my mother's breath little mist. Come and see the world which awaits you on the other side." Nudging the basket once more he blew outward again, giving the foal recognition to know it was safe to emerge.

The filly squeaked with excitement as she pushed harder and harder letting herself practically tumble out of the basket when she realized the lid was removed. Eyes shimmering with a fluid waterlike trance she oohed and awed at the colors that rushed at her like a whirlpool. She had smelled the morning and the night time, but never had she dreamed the other world was this bright and alluring. Standing upward on her legs for the first time, the filly laid eyes upon the two larger versions of herself and paused with wide eyes. Like a rush of recognition the scents of these two filled her senses with knowledge these were her parents. The great blue one that looked like herself had that familiar scent she experienced in her basket. Taking a step forward, then another she squeaked with a chirp looking upward at her great father.

His eyes couldn't of been more pleased as heart and soul looked deeply into his first daughter's eyes. They rocked gently yet searched for things never able to be tamed except maybe love that was the easiest to lure in the great element. She was of course a lighter version of her father with his markings and disposition, but she was something more. She was of not only water but of sea as well. All three of his sired children were of this duel element. He craned his head toward the filly and breathed one word letting it flow around her like a protective mantle, "Kasumi."

The filly looked toward the other two baskets then back at her mother and father. This was her new world, a strange thing so bright and anew to her. So much to learn and do as she stepped closer to her parents then stopped as her father came closer to her speaking that one word that would ever stay with her till she herself would do the same when her own bloodline was passed on. "Ka...ka..su..," she repeated with a great try at this thing her father said, "mi... Ka..su..mi...". Looking up at her father she waited to see what else he'd say. Her first word that she uttered signified that Kasumi the daughter of Mizu was already learning who she was in life.

The stallion nodded to her blowing outward in approval, "You shall be mist as I am water. A namesake fitting of the daughter that breathes from water." He turned to Ayelet and smiled deeply, "A filly and a colt... I do wonder what the last will be. Ayelet sweet Ayelet beautiful and bright. You have done very well beautiful Rising Sun." Now it was up to the last to make its appearance then the family would be complete and finally whole at last.

A soft sound slipped out to fill the darkness. Her voice! She possessed a voice like those from outside. Whinnying shrilly she stretched up, butting her head again and again against the lid of her world. A third emotion joined those two already overtaking her. Curiosity and Need were joined by Impatience.

Gathering her stilt-like limbs under her he heaved upwards with all her strength. The lid of the third basket went flying, followed by the wild tangle of legs and foal as the twilight filly spilled out into the world. her first appearance rather less than graceful as she landed in a heap next to the basket, now rolling gently on its side.

Twig-like limbs thrashed as the tiny creature struggled to untangle them, sending her basket spinning off to one side. A shrill whinny escaped as she greeted the new world that had appeared before her, from her prone position. Flanks heaved breathlessly as she fell still, head lifting to peer with startled, wide eyes around her. Having leapt into the world away from her parents, she lay with her back to the proud pair and her siblings. The wide expanse of the world greeted her wide-eyed gaze, ears pricked and swivelling as she struggled to take everything in at once.

Suddenly she realised there was something behind her and she peered back over her shoulder, wide amber eyes with their black sclera the perfect replica of their other's own. It was they! Those that had given her so much love and warmth while she lay slumbering in her basket. She knew it was them, some deeply rooted instinct told her that they were her parents. With an eager nicker she struggled onto her knees, managing to untangle her back legs to lift her rump in the air. Tiny tail wagged wildly, almost knocking her off balance again before she lunged to her feet.

A couple of unsteady hops sent her sideways, her new limbs too unsteady to retain their balance, sending the flustered little filly tumbling back to the ground. With a squeek of impatience she threw herself back onto her hooves, wobbling limbs spread so wide she was almost laying on her belly. But she stayed upright. A delighted expression crossed her face as she looked up, way.. way up, at her parents. Tiny fuzzy fluff of a tail wagging with excitement.

Ayelet closed her eyes and sighed at the name given the deep blue filly. She was beautiful. Her hair a few shades darker than her fathers, with eyes like her own. Kasumi as her father had named, and by no other name could it have been so perfect. Reaching beside Mizu, she gingerly licked the small foal on her short spray of bangs. "Hello Kasumi." came her hushed voice, filled with the affection of a mother.

The blushed colt persisted to try and push its muzzle out the growing hole in the side of the basket. It was tiresome, so he stopped for a moment, until he caught his second wind. When he did, he thrashed at the hole with determination, from both hoof and head. He managed to protrude halfway out the baskets side, before the weave completely fell away around him. Falling limp on the cold ground, his sides heaved rapidly. That was one tough exit!

Ayelet again let out a light giggle at her boy. Quite the entrance, and a tough one at that. It had taken him a while to fully emerge, and she resisted the urge to help him. Faith was held, that he could overcome the seemingly small task on his own. Once he was out, she reached forward and nuzzled his neck in a few soft strokes. The fall was brilliant in colors, with golden spray marks mirroring his fathers. "And who shall this be?" she spoke back to Mizu. He did such a good job with the first name, she wanted him to name them all.

The sun kissed colt looked from mother to father, squeaking in sheer joy, at his mothers warm touch. His tail flickered about as he looked on at them, feeling satisfaction and naturally, love. As he heard sounds to his side, he watched as his sister emerged from her basket. His eyes went wide and his mouth dropped. Is that what he was inside? He wondered as the basket tumbled away from her. Then instinctively, he looked to the other side, at his already emerged second sister. He wasn't alone, he was surrounded! There was no fear in his little heart as he gleamed back up at his parents, still in a small heap on the ground.

The third one finally bumped out of it's confinement, facing the opposite direction at first. "Another filly!" she exclaimed to Mizu, licking the foals muzzle when it turned to face them. "Mizu, name her too. They are your legacy of the great sea, and it pleases me for you to call them by the name you would have for each of them." she said with the utmost sincerity. The foal had colors on her legs like that of a bruised plum, she was beautiful. Ayelet noticed that both her girls had her eyes, and all three had sea spray swirl markings, like their father. They were all a perfect harmony of mother and father.

There are few times in life, that ones happiness fills their heart to the point where it bursts in your chest. This was one of those moments, as Ayelets heart burst with delight each time she looked onto her three foals.
