The sun was high in the sky, and the wind made Shiori's curls dance. She was grazing in a meadow, one of those rare days that the kids and her mate weren't around to bug her. Verloren was off training the kids, and he was doing a great job. All Shiori had to do now was make sure they have proper manners and that they pick the right soquili to be friends with. She sighed, admitting to herself that the days her family weren't there were quite boring and with lack of fun. She wished that she could meet someone interesting today, just like in her younger days.

It was definitely one of those warm summer days, one that made you wish you were bathing in a nice cool stream. Luckily for Melanie there was a nice breeze that swept through the meadow she was walking. Though walking downwind caused her short mane to obsure her veiw no matter how much she tossed it out of her face. Giving up with that she kept walking till the sound of chewing brought her gaze upward toward a bright yellow mare.

Her calls were answered. Another mare was in the meadow. Though she was far away, apparently she had noticed Shiori before Shiori had noticed her, for when she paused her munching and looked up, their eyes met. This was a young mare, and looked calm and humble. She was a pale peach mixed with white-ish kind of color, and it made her look serene and elegant. Shiori smiled and started walking over to her.

The mare that was now walking her way seemed nice enough, so she preceeded to meet her half way in the field. Now that she got a better look at the female she had the spots of a leopard and strips on her legs. How odd. she thought to herself as she stopped infront of her. "Good morning." she said chipply, her tail swaying lightly behind her. "I'm Melanie. I hope I didn't disturb you."

When she came across the mare, she could see that she had beautiful silky looking hair fashioned in a cute but interesting style, unlike her crazy untamed curls. She also had a piece of cloth around her neck. "Hi Melanie, I'm Shiori." she said, smiling. "No, you didn't disturb me, I was just all alone without my family and I was getting kind of bored. You know, the crazy kids tiring you down and demanding pretty much everything. And the mate that will only help them when theres mischief to be done against mom so he can get a good laugh." Shiori rambled, remembering the time they crept a snake into the teepee and scared the crap out of her while their two-legged friend was taking the thorns out of Shiori's curls and treating her scratches after the boys had pretended to be stuck in a rose bush. Stupid.. stupid family. she thought, shaking her head.

Melanie for the most part had an unreadable expression. She though about what the other mare said shook her head slowly. "I don't have anyone but myself. But I don't think i'd like any of that." No, she wouldn't. The idea of fouls tying her down so she couldn't do what she wanted, when she wanted. No, she'd despise every minute of it. But she didn't say that to her. "Shiori." she said softly, getting a feeling of how her name felt on her tongue. "So do you spend ALL your time with them?"

Shiori pondered that thought for a minute. Before she had met Verloren, she was intrigued in adventure, and traveled all the time. She wouldn't let herself be bound my anything. Then, when she met her mate she settled down. "Yep, pretty much," she answered. "My two boys are young, and even when they grown up, I have to teach them how to survive." She thought about the emptiness she would feel once they were gone. Maybe she'd go on another adventure with Verloren? Maybe she'd try for more children? She didn't know.
"How about you?" she asked. "You're young, do you have any plans for yourself?" she smiled warmly.

"Ahh two boys. They must be a handfull then" she said with a slight smirk. The first thing that came to mind was that she was lucky to have someone to help her with the young ones.
"I don't have any plans really. I have no one close to me so I go where I want, when I want." She smiled at the mare, but the smile didn't seem to reach her eyes, or enlighten they're brightness like it usually did when she smiled. In truth, she was starting to get tired of traveling by herself and only having her own company. But something had always kept her from taking on someone. But she couldn't remember what it was that made her keep her distance. So she ignored the headache that treatened her head when she thought about it and switched topics. Family. This mare was all about family. That would keep her talking and off herself.
"Are you planning on having any more fouls?"
