The corseted female, padded gently along the beach. She found it easiest to think, with the sound of the waves nearby. She was taking a break from her studies with Raistlin. The mage was finding it difficult to teach her things, she was pretty much on his level by the time she was a teen. She shook her head, her light teal eyes turned to the ocean, her soul calming as she watched the rythmic waves.

Locana shook her head "Aye girl, ya be dreamin' 'gain" she said to herself, turning back towards the woods, she made her way through the underbrush, to a picturesque clearing. The grass was a vibrant green, there were plentiful beautiful flowers everywhere, and butterflies. She found it simply beautiful, but to her, the ocean held more beauty. Thats not to say she didnt respect this scene. A gust of wind blew, and sent her hat off her head, she yelped and lept after it, pouncing the fluttering captains hat "Oh no ye don'. If me broda can'nae take it, nedah can da wind" she said with a triumphant plop back on her head, and a firm nod.

User Image An artist held a tiny detail brush in her mouth, every once in a while dipping her head forward to add a dark line here or there. At her side sat a bundle, opened just enough to reveal a set of paints. They were obviously well used, each cup nearly empty and one or two looked stained with incorrect colors. It would be time to refill them soon, she knew. Red eyes narrowed on the current canvas, a smooth rock she'd found settled nearly in the middle of this perfect place. Exploring did lead to wonderful surprises, Miulani decided.

Dropping the little brush in a small tin of water, she took another, wet the bristles, and chose a light yellow color. With more liquid than paint, she spread a soft glow over the entirety of her work. It looked nice, the artist thought, but not as nice as the original. She sighed. It never was.

Using her paws to carefully maneuver the clean and freshly washed brushes back into her cloth bundle, she hardly expected what happened next. The sound of another's voice met her sensitive ears, causing her to start and knock over the water tin, soaking the bundle thoroughly. "Oh..." lifting her paw from the wet cloth, she frowned slightly, looking off in the distance and catching just the end of the event--a hat plopping back on a head. Canting her own head, she watched for a moment.

Locana shook her head, testing the hat. Satisfied it wasnt going anywhere again, she smiled to herself. Hearing another noise, she turned her head to see the artist. She drew herself to her full height, and padded towards the colorfully feathered female. " 'ahoy thar darlin'" she said cheefully, coming up to Miu. "Wha' iz a girl like ye doin out 'ere all by ye'r lonesom?" Locana's tone wasnt condecending, or be-littling in any way, it was just her way. "An wha' be that ye're pain'in thar?" She didnt make a move to view it, she wanted to respect the others privacy. She knew how Raistlin was about his magical stuff. Artists could be the same way he said.

Honestly, Miu hadn't expected the other female to join her in the center of the clearing. Not that she was unhappy with the turn in events, however. Her bundle was wet, but that wasn't a big deal. It would probably dry by the time she chose to leave. "Hello," she answered, a gentle smile settling on her maw. Momentarily turning from the other, she picked up the spilled tin, dumping out what little water was left. "I was just enjoying nature," was the continued response. She hoped the other didn't mind that she had begun capping her paints now, but she didn't want them to dry. Finishing up, she shook out the cloth and laid it out to dry. "This? It's nothing..." her voice grew quieter, but the smile remained. "I'm Miulani. May I ask your name?"

Locana nodded her head lightly, she didnt mind that Miu cleaned up, tidyness was a good sign. "Aye, nature be suren beautiful" she nodded again, watching the feathered female go about her business. At the realization she hadnt yet introduced herself, she shook with embarrassment, Raistlin would not be pleased to learn that. "Miu, it be a pleasure ta meet ya" she bowed low in greeting, sweeping her hat out to the side, before putting it back on her head "I be Nenda Locana, but most round 'ere call me Locana" she said with another nod "Me teacher, 'e calls me Yantimo" she didnt know why it was relevent to the conversation, but it was. At least to her.

She watched Miu with eyes the color of the caribbean ocean. "Ye be an artist? One whom truely enjoy's the beauty o the nature. Who appreciates tha waves dancin' on da shore. A lea'f blowin' in da wind, it not just be a leaf is it? It be art in motin' " She said with a gentle smile. Locana had a way about her, there were some she could just, see into. Even if they said little about themselves, and they'd never met, Locana just new. She'd been that way since birth. She knew her parents and Guardian, before anyone had told her. It made her father proud, and it made her guardian proud, and highly annoyed, but in an over elated teacher kind of way. Only he never showed a happy emotion, not in all the time she'd been under his guidance.

For a moment, she seemed caught up in the sweep of the hat. A simple motion, but an interesting one, for she could not recall meeting anyone who wore a hat in her life. Pulling her eyes away from the accessory, she looked to her things. Sure they would all be dry in no time now, she gave her full attention to her company. "The pleasure is mine," she told with a gentle smile. Rising to a stand, she gave a little bow of her own, feathered tails rustling out behind her. As she finished her own small greeting, she began to wonder idly. Just what was it that a teacher could be teaching which made it necessary to call your pupil by a different name. It wasn't really her place to pry, though she was intrested.

"Yes..." That certainly hadn't been expected. That beautiful explaination. She felt Locana understood the true feelings of an artist. And it was surprising, to say the least. Not many did. She recalled that from personal experience. "Yes." A smile graced her features. "Art in motion. How eloquent." A very soft giggle left Miu's maw as she thought more on it. "You have the heart of an artist, too, I think." Maybe in a different way. She wasn't quite sure. Perhaps it truly was okay to ask what she wanted now. "I can't help but wonder what it is you learn from your teacher."

Locana, watched Miu, and how the female took such reverence of her art supplies. Those passionate about their craft, were passionate about the well being of their craft supplies. Miu showed all the signs of someone passionate. She seemed socially awkward, almost shy around others, Locana imagined Miu was more comfortable when she was painting.

She thought about the statement, of herself being an artist as well. How curious. "I, darlin, have de heart of de ocean. Which in itself, is a piece of artwork" she said with a light nod, her hat staying on her head this time. In her world, it was a symbol of status. A captain, always had a wonderful hat. She, was born with hers. Much to the resentment of her only brother.

The last question, surprised Locana, but only for a moment, nor did she let the initial surprise show, another lesson from her teacher. "My fader, and a powerful mage, became unlikley friends. When i wa's born my fadah gave me toh dah mage, tah raise and teach. 'E teaches me eveytin." She turned her attention to the east, where she could hear the ocean. "My fadah, is of de sea. 'E ferries dah souls lost on de ocean. And mah modah, she is a goddess o' da sea. Tah get da most trainin, dey sent me toh dah mage." She turned back to Miu. Her face held no resentment, towards her parents, or her situation. She understood why she was sent to study with Raistlin. And she still saw her parents on occasion. It was a situation that suited the current events. And she thrived under Raistlin's tutelage.

What a strange story, she thought. Interesting, and yet strange. To be so connected to the ocean, yet sent away from it to learn. Perhaps her parents saw something in introducing her to other aspects of the world. Mages were generally well-versed in many things. It seemed to be a wise choice. And it wasn't as if the sea couldn't be seen on any chosen occasion. Even from a distance, its beauty was true. Or maybe... A sheepish expression crossed Miu's face. She'd said absolutely nothing out loud yet--it was her custom to think things through--but already she felt she'd thought too much. Perhaps she was reading incorrectly into the entire situation. Not that it stopped her from continuing the intellectual conversation.

"Your parents seem very powerful." With power came either wisdom or foolishness. Miu was beginning to believe in the former. "One day, after you finish your training, maybe you'll be able to make some sort of difference in the ways of the world." Sometimes she liked to think that just appreciating nature made a difference in the world. It was something she chose to do every day with her art, whether she showed if off or not.

Make a difference. Could one person make a difference on a grand scale like that? She believed so. To influence one person, is to make a grand difference. Because if that one person influences someone to make a change, and they influence others, ect. It was an interesting idea. She turned to face Miu again.

She watched Miu. Artists were the type to turn things over in their head before coming up with an answer or comment. It was just they're nature. Just like fighters were typically fidgety, and quick to comment. Her head tilted softly, and a light smile played on her maw. "Thar be many ways ta make a difference love. Not just tha big'n powerful ways eider." she said with a light chuckle. "Sometimes, even a paintin' can change da world" Her oceanic eyes, had a glint as she looked at Miu, then turned her probing gaze away, to some butterflies dancing in the wind. "We all have da powah to change da world. Its wheda' we make da choice to do so" she said in a soft tone, as if she were saying it to the wind, but it was loud enough for Miu to hear.

Such a deep conversation was something Miulani wasn't quite used to. Her own feelings rung true to nearly all of the words spoken between them. And yet, it felt strange. It felt strange that, for once, she could speak philosophically and believe she wouldn't be looked at differently for it. It was unusual that she could speak her mind and feel that someone understood her. Opening her maw, she looked to speak. Though it shut just as quickly as the other's gaze departed. Silenced, she followed the line of Locana's eyes with a genuine curiosity in her heart. For a few minutes afterward, she watched the dancing butterflies, too.

Two of the many butterflies seemed entranced with each other above all else. Inside, Miu couldn't help but think they made a difference, too. In their own way. They would bring the beginnings of new life into this world before they, themelves, would depart into the next. Finally she spoke once more. "Do you chose to make a difference, Locana?" she questioned quietly.

Locana tilted her head lightly, watching the butterflies. It was simply amazing to watch them move, to watch them dance on the wind, skipping over the flowers. They had to much freedom, so much power, in yet they were so delicate and fragile. It seemed an unfair addition to such a powerful force. She turned her attention back to Miulani, mentally scolding herself for her rude behaviour.

The question that came from her artist friend, was un-expected. It wasnt offensive, or rude in any way. Locana enjoyed thoughtful conversation. She believed you could grow and learn, from every thoughtful intelligent conversation you had, and she yearned for many.

"Do eye chose" she repeated softly, in her thick accent. " 'eye chose ta beh dah best 'eyh can beh. My mad'har, fad'har and teachar, have all raised meh tah beh good an kind." she kept her gaze on Miulani, not a boring intrusive gaze, more of a gentle look. "All meh actions, big or small, or seemin'leh insignifigahnt, will lead tah good choices." She gave a slight chuckle, "eets who we ahr on da inside, dhat is dah base of ah'r choices. Some ah'r mohr evil ahnd whicked. Dh'ere choices will be mohr towahrds a darkahr side. Locana always had a way to describe things.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 09, 2008 1:11 am

The description was honestly satisfying. A simple idea of good and evil. While the reality of the world didn't always allow such an obvious line between those ideals, Miu knew that somewhere deep within there was always a fundamental basis for everything. The other femme hit the nail on the head for sure. Remaining silent, not something unusual, she placed a paw on the cloth bundle. It was still a bit moist, but had dried a surprising amount in the short time they'd been speaking. Perhaps it had been the gentle wind she'd barely noticed. Moving to pack her things back into the bundle, she smiled, although it was hidden by cloth as she used her teeth to aid her paws in tying the bag together.

"Are you interested in walking with me?" she asked idly. It was a quiet question that presented the idea of continuing their conversations on life without completely dismissing the earlier part of their talk. Sticking her head through the hole between pack and knot, the newly formed bag fell against her chest fluff, looking at home there. It was how she always carried her things. It was usually uncomfortable to have to carry things in her mouth all the time. This way was more convenient.

Nenda watched Miu, gather her things. She believed the base principles of everyone, was either good or evil. How they went about them, could fall into shades of gray however. The corseted female, inclined her head at the offer. "Eyt would beh an honnar tah walk with yew" she said with a brief smile.

She fell into position beside Miu. "Do yeh have aneh famileh?" The question was a simple one. She wanted to learn all she could about this artistic and quiet female. She knew Miu thought of more then she said, she believed her to be quiet thoughtful indeed. Perhaps a bit shy in what she said, but her actions speaked in volumes, and Nenda intended to listen to the body language.

A soft smile showed she was glad the invitation was accepted. It was a nice enough day that they could wander without worry and probably see a few more beautiful sights before the day's end. With the other female at her side, she continued forward, not leading or following. She had no location in mind, per say, but wandering idly was just as likely to find them in a nice nice place as thinking hard on it. As they neared the end of the clearing, Miu slowed a bit, but didn't stop. "Family?" Well, she supposed it was only fair. She'd heard quite about about her friend's family. "I have my parents and siblings," she revealed. "Not surprisingly... they're both feathered." She chuckled gently, shaking her head. "But my brother... half-brother... Terasu is the one I get along with the best. He's... he understands me." She smiled at the thought.

Nenda inclined her head, a light smile playing on her maw. At the mention of Miu getting along best with her brother, made Nenda pause, mid stride, her paw delicately falling back on the ground. A brief look of an emotional termoil, ran through her mind, and flashed over hear face.

Her only brother. She would never have that relationship with him, not like the one Miu and her brother Terasu had. She had her sisters, Narwhal and Shiva. Shiva, she took it upon herself to protect, and guide the self-conscience sister. Brisote, was lost to them. He viewed women, as beneath men, and seeing his 'lowly' sister born with the hat of the Captain, further drove him to madness. Nenda sighed lightly, and then shook her head of such thoughts. She was here, now, with Miu, her drama with her sibling, was ages away.

The only on of her family, that truly understood Nenda, seemed to be Raistlin. She got along with her siblings and parents, but none entirely understood her perspective.

"yeh are luckeh, tah be close teh ye're brodah" she said softly, resuming her pace. "Mah parents, are always out at sea." she said with a light chuckle. "I t'ink ye're feathers, are beatifahl. Like a work of art, which fits yeh" another light smile.
