I find this to be a terrifying question, one that I used to only hear preached by fanatics. Recently I have found this topic coming up in conversations among my friends more and more, and not just when talking about movies.
Is it just more noticeable and really has always been a popular subject of speculation? I'm curious about other people's thoughts and opinions on the subject of the end of the world.

Meh.. I don't think people should worry about the end of the world.. What happens will happen.. Enjoy life. Don't waste it trying to predict the world's doom. It'll just make you crazy.

Imagine all those preachers were right, then we would be eradicated by asteroids, black holes, zombies, gods, demons, riots, natural disasters, a mutated cup of noodles and the Illuminati at the same time!
Trust me, mankind will never witness the end of the world. It's a good way to seek attention, by telling crap which must concern you and all your properties. I mean someone tells you the world will end, you are a part of this world, so it "must" be a concern to you.

No.. the world will NOT end... geezs, what's with people these days?? The only way for the world to end is if the sun blew up ( which won't happen for another good 5 billion years or so). mrgreen

If everyone keeps this pollution crap going we'll all die tomorrow of global warming :0. But... No the world's end is not near. It's just be a very messed up, world. I don't think it will happen very soon. Just billions and billions and billions, years later, eventually the sun will blow up, like a regular star. I think.

Heres a better question, Does it matter? Eventually we will all die and the fear of death will only slow you down. Life is about living, not dying.

Well, like all things, our world will die. People seem to think that it is going to be sooner rather than later because of prophecies (such as the Malachy Prophecy of Catholic popes leading right up to the current pope) that have gone around and according to the book of Revelation in the Christian bible. Really no one knows, and we're not supposed to. We can only live good lives and hope for the best.

Well sooner or later the end will come.I've always believed that in about a billion years(when every posting here is dead) that that sun will explode and then it will be the end. Or the world will be taken over by robots.

Albert Einstein said that four years after the bees became extinct from our planet so would human life. Recently bees have been hit hard by many sources, natural and other wise, damaging the productivity of crops. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6299480Does any one else know anything of this? I do realize that this was the subject of a recent horror film that I personally have not seen yet. I also completely agree that it is useless to overly worry about the end of the world beyond what we can each do to make our environment cleaner and renewable. But it is interesting to discus it.

ForsakenTime Well, like all things, our world will die. Really no one knows, and we're not supposed to. We can only live good lives and hope for the best. I second that. I really like the quote someone once said,
"I'd rather live like there was a God and die to find there wasn't then to live like there was no God and die to find there was."
I'm not sure who it was that said that. Also, I believe that if the end described in Revelation doesn't occur, Global Warming will end us instead. <_<*A creepy side note: My mom has told me that when I was really little, I used to swear that the end would come in my time. Weird huh? I didn't even know about church and stuff like that yet back then.*

I do not think the world is coming to an end.. Wars have happened before, people dying, natural disasters have happened before..Really is their much you can do about it? YOu cant stop it.. You can just make your little corner of the world a happier place..Take care of others, be kind, pick up trash..Care..

Lenelee *A creepy side note: My mom has told me that when I was really little, I used to swear that the end would come in my time. Weird huh? I didn't even know about church and stuff like that yet back then.* That's the same crap my parents got told during the Cold War and the same my great grandparents told my grandparents during WWII. The earth is always ending, BLAH! The world is not the best place, so my advice is: live your life and stay yourself, that will make your little area of the world a better place.

Supposedly, a large change will happen on December 21, 2012, since that's when the Mayan calendar ends. Some people think it's the end of the world, while others (such as my friends) believe the way people think will suddenly change.
I've also heard from another friend (who read this from a book) that in 2012, a barrier between the spiritual world and the mortal world will weaken, and we will see our dead friends and relatives again.
But, there's not much we can do about the end of the world. I like wondering how it will happen, and if it will ever happen, but truly, why waste your time pondering that question when you should be spending your time enjoying life before that might happen.
Just don't worry about it. If it ends, it ends, and there will be no stopping it.
(Sorry to be so depressing.)
