Character Rough Draft ( ironing out the stats systems )
Gaia Username: Chibi-Teddo Character Name: Veratruce Montresor Clan: Lasombra Age Class: Elder Age: 261 Appearance: Montresor is a tall, slim man with an aristocratic air about him. He has a smooth yet well-defined face, and bluish-black hair spreading out over his head. He has mutton-chop sideburns, as well. His eyes are a deep blue, and have the telltale slant of a vampire. He stands 5'10", but often appears to be taller given his sinewy body. His skin is pale as death, and resembles dull white marble when examined very closely. Biography: Montresor keeps his past to himself. There is much yet to be revealed. Notes: Montresor is one of the 'knights' of the Lasombra family. Given his age, his powers have progressed considerably beyond those of his subordinates. He answers directly to the dukes of the Lasombra family, who have a tendency to auction his services off to the highest bidder.
Level: 1 Experience: 0 / 1000 Blood: 60 / 60 Energy: 86 / 86 Strength: 15 Dexterity: 16 Constitution: 14 Wisdom: 16 Intelligence: 18 Charisma: 14
Level and experience will be determined by a GM.
Blood is determined as follows:
Vampires: Base score: 10 + 40 + 10 = 60 Blood per age rank: 8 + constitution modifier Blood per level: 1d8 + constitution modifier
Energy is determined as follows:
Vampires: Base score: 20 + 54 + 12 = 86 Energy per age rank: 6 + intelligence modifier + wisdom modifier Energy per level: 1d8 + intelligence modifier
Strength: 8 + 7 = 15 Dexterity: 12 +4 = 16 Constitution: 6 +8 = 14 Wisdom: 12 +4 = 16 Intelligence: 14 +4 = 18 Charisma: 12 + 2 = 14
Points to distribute at player's discretion: 25 + 1 per age category + 1 per 4 levels

I take it we're using the standard stat bonuses from 3.5 d'n'd? Like in 3.5 do we take the max roll at first level for blood and energy? And what is this business about age ranks? Also also do we all start out level 1 with 0/1000?

First question: yes. Second question: yes. Third question: Still trying to decide on how to do it. It works a bit like with dragons, though. Fourth question: Also trying to decide on that one... but yes. My original plan was levels based on age, but that would be very uneven having level 10 players running around with level 1 players.
Focus more on creating your character right now than picking stats. I'm still in the process of stitching together a usable system.

Oh, I've had my starting character since we first started talking about this game. I just need a vampire lord/lady to attach her to. And I'm fleshing out her appearance a bit.
She's a human maidservant, very loyal, very polite. What sets her apart from every other human in the cities is that she is brilliant when it comes to clockwork. She builds clocks, watches, music boxes, and small clockwork creatures in her spare time. She also has a firm grip on steam mechanics, it's just harder for her to play with without it being noticed.
However, I would prefer that she grew up in one of the coastal refinery cities and was attached to a vampire from the same city. The reason she's in Falacia would be because her master/mistress is there.
Aaand, now I'm gonna hop over to the development threads and start talking about the cities.

Work in progress!Gaia Username: Ellenoir Character Name: Clover Sparrow Organization: Age Class: Young Age: 23 Appearance: Clover is a rather unremarkable young woman, aside from her hair. Feathery and hard to control, her ear-length locks often fall into her face. Its bright fiery colour alone is enough to keep her from fading into the scenery. Her eyes are neither large nor small, her face neither round nor long, her nose neither sharp nor snubbed. All in all, pleasant to look at, but not gorgeous. Average, with a light dusting of freckles. Her build is slight, being only 5 feet and 1 inch tall. Clover is strong enough to get through most household chores without any trouble, but by no means a warrior. Her true strength lies in her nimbleness. She can lace a corset tighter and swifter than maidservants ten years more experienced. Buttons, buckles, laces, complicated garments are simple tasks under her slender fingers. When she is in the presence of the lords and ladies of the household she wears simple, proper, unassuming garments: A black ankle length skirt, over dark brown leather shoes. Her shirt is a high collared coal black knit long-sleeved affair. Over the knit shirt she wears a brown leather corset, a shade or two lighter than her shoes. The corset buckles closed rather than laces. Hanging from her corset she carries a watch as well as other small tools and keys, which she uses to wind and repair the clocks and gadgets of the household. Sometimes she covers her hair with some kind of bandana or veil. When she is in her own quarters, or in the human districts of the city, she dresses a little differently: Trousers instead of skirts, as a matter of personal preference. When she’s working on a project whether it be a watch, music box, or what-have-you, she has a pair of goggles that she can swap the lenses out to varying degrees of magnification. Biography: Clover spent her earliest years in the Under-cogs of Ilnaria. Her mother and elder sisters worked in the assembly factory, and her father at the water purification tower. So from a very early age she was learning how things worked. Their supper-table conversations were often about the various malfunctions at work and how they were being fixed. She’s never been able to figure out why they chose her, but when she was 12 years old her whole world changed. She had just started working in the factory alongside her sisters when an inspection came through. That was her first time meeting a vampire, and she’ll never forget it… And I cannot write anymore of her bio until somebody claims her as their maidservant and I get a chance to read their profile, or at least their personality concept

Character Rough Draft ( thinking up a better character than mister 'I have no bio' )
Gaia Username: Chibi-Teddo Character Name: Veratruce Montresor Clan: Lasombra / Malkavian Age Class: Age: Appearance: Montresor is a tall, slim man with an aristocratic air about him. Biography: Montresor is the child of a notable Lasombra noble and an unfortunate Malkavian woman. His father was enchanted by the exotic sensibilities of his mother, and fell in love with her. As such, Montresor is cursed with the sins of both houses. His condition could be described as a more intense version of multiple personality bipolar disorder. He is generally his calm, collected self. However, for brief periods he slips into a muddled state of incoherence. Furthermore, he has a nagging paranoia that is always present to some degree. Most notably, it was the cause of his current predicament: Montresor, succumbing to his paranoia, believed his dear friend Fortunato to be a traitor to him. He was driven somewhat mad, and eventually killed Fortunato. Fortunato, a notable noble like himself, did not go unmissed. Montresor was forced to flee the lands of the Lasombra, and has since found himself tucked away in the city of Falacia, keeping under the radar of the native Baali. Montresor possesses the powers and apathy of a Lasombra, but at times exhibits neurotic tendencies of a Malkavian. Notes: Montresor is a man unsure of what he wants in life and fairly certain that he doesn't care one way or another. Often he sits in a high armchair in his study, sitting perfectly still and literally accumulating dust. Unambitious even for a Lasombra.

first, wow. I didn't know I was going to have to deal with stats for my characters. I thoguht the combat system was going to be the only thing with numbers to worry about. I can adjust, but I'm not sure I see the reason for them or atleast so many. I don't see myself thinking of how much dex my char has when I fire my bow. Again, I can adapt it just is something I wasn't expecting. I'm just going to need some help understanding it, and you lost me completly on the blood and energy idea. I love D&D but concepts like that are easier to get across in person rather than over posts, but I'm willin to try.
On a lighter side I have two characters in line to come about. One is a human warrior and the other is an archer/ fighter Lycan. I am still thinking of making a Lycan character for each new area jst so anyone wanting to join that area will have someone to relate to. If nothing else I will make them NPCs if I don't feel like making them solid characters.

Holy! Vampires can breed?! I was under the impression we were playing under the old classic that vampires only procreate through turning new vampires!
Myeh, thankfully I've been playing 3.5 for about 3 years solid, so I have the stats down quite well. I'm not sure what all he's up to with the blood and energy but I'm willing to bet that it's something like Hit-points, and Mana.
So uhm, I've been asked by a few people about ideas for characters, or just how it is I come up with my characters so here's my proscess in a nutshell. If you get anything useful out of it, awesome, I love to help, if it's confusing, well it is my mental process it's not going to work for everybody.
Usually I start of with the character's gender, sometimes appearance but often I leave that for last. The first really important thing I address is profession. What is it that this person does everyday? What we do as people defines who we are.
From there I decide on a quirk or a flaw. What makes this person more than just a face in the crowd? This is the point where you need to decide how stereotypical your character is going to be. Are you the "mad scientist" the "workaholic devoted scientist" or are you the genius that no one notices because you spend your time womanizing and getting drunk? Pick your stereotype, and then add some salt and pepper, make it yours.
A big issue with war type roleplays is the factions. Who's side is your character on and why? I flesh this aspect out by deciding how personal the conflict is to my character. The more devoted to the cause you want your character to be the more personally they should take it, the more likely it is to have directly affected your character.
And uhm, I'll leave it at that since it wasn't actually solicited on this thread. sweatdrop

Thanks El! xD if you want you can make your own thread on this subforum called something like "El's Tips for how to make your characters as awesome as mine", and it can be like your own little help desk where people beg you to make their characters as awesome as yours xp
And, yes, for reference: blood = hp, energy = mana.
Ronyo, don't worry about any of the things with numbers for now. I'm going to perfect the system, decide if it's worth using, then implement it later on. So you can start off pretty smoothly by just writing up your normal character bio. I don't want to scare anyone with all the complicated rules I want to test just yet.

whew, scared me a bit Teddo. I'm having a hard enough time trying to learn 4th edition, and am not happy they didn't do the druid in the first run. I'm guessing the forgotten realms edition should have them and the bard class, crosses fingers.
I like the idea of an El help desk, lol, and you should name it like that...
Ellenoir's help desk: How to make your character as cool as mine.
And great sugestion too El, I like how you go about giving them a flaw. Most people don't do that...like me sometimes...oh look SoulCaliber IV...

omg you're kidding me! 4th edition doesn't have druids??? Thank goodness I refuse to play it. I JUST started getting the hang of 3.5. (I was raised on second edition)
I have the unfortunate tendency of making my characters a bit neurotic. While this is a flaw, my other tendency is to completely overpower them physically.
Artisn? Somewhat of a headcase.
His powers? White mage, black cleric, and assassin. In other words... everything.
Even in D&D... my DM made me make a new character because my ranger/rogue was too strong, and was soloing all his bosses. (why? because I'm just THAT good at making a character. but in the killing stuff sense.) To tell you the truth... that character was actually a completely sociopathic halfling. If you've read Order of the Stick... I named him Belkar. He ran around plotting the deaths of his party members and killing important quest NPCs that had lots of angry friends with spears.
ANYWAY....
I guess my character archetypes just reflect my own outlook on life, huh? Work for yourself, screw humanity... be crazy, become powerful... be crazy...

You should read the Cleric Quintet, some of the villains are very intersting. Salvatore is one of the few writters I've seen who can make the bad guys interesting to read about. Look at Artemis and Jarlaxle wonderful characters and awesome villians that turned into anti-heros.
I like the idea behind 4th edition because it makes the wizard class not the only all powerful class to start with. 3.5 everyone wanted to be Elmenster good lord did they. 4th edition also bring the dragonborn as a main race which adds some fun. The druid and the bard should be in the Forgotten Realms book on the 4th edition. They better because the world of the Forgotten Realms basically runs off druids and bards lol.
I'm still working on some detail on my characters. More so on the human I have an interesting idea to make my two characters with diffrent view points, so when they meet I might get to do a fun battle seen....maybe

Oh, Lord. Does this mean I have to arrange my character's stats as well as a traditional profile? I have a profile completed, by the way, so that shouldn't bee too tedious, buuut... Am I reading this correctly?
Thanks for accepting me, by the way, Teddo. I thought you were gone. :XP:
EDIT: My dude is a vampire of the Lilitu clan, and I'm wondering about that extra section below the skeletons, dealing with abilities and defense. Do I need to come up with that, and if so, are the 'special abilities' mine to decide?
