Early morning as the sun was still behind the horizon, soft colours painted the morning sky, the air was crisp but the lack of clouds in the sky showed it was going to get quite hot. The Birds began to sing waking the world that was silent and still sound asleep.

Beside her dear companion Chandara woke to the sound of song birds. A soft smile crept onto her face as she saw her companion still sleeping soundly. Gently nuzzling the sleeping form beside her Chandara continued to listen to the dawn chorus.

It was going to get hot, and now was always the best time for them to start walking. The pair of nequus had become quite close over their journeys together and eventually began courting, each feeling something for the other. It was quite the case of Love at first sight, it was rare and beautiful and Fate had arranged it.

Something special would draw them ever closer, Chandara could feel it.

Sol was one of those enviable creature who, once awoken, could rose themselves fully within a moment or two and as such, the warrior stallion gave a single yawn and shake of his head before turning to his lady and smiling softly at her. “Good morning Chandara,” he said as he clambered to his hooves and gave himself a more thorough shake. “It look as thought we have another beautiful day ahead of us,” he commented with another smile, turning back to her and nuzzling the side of her face.

Beautiful though it was here, he found himself anxious to be off; it had been this way for a little while now. Like a stone was pulled to the ground when kicked from a high place, he found himself pulled onward. He suspected Chandara felt it too, and he also suspected where it was the two of them were being drawn to. He dared not think it though, not until he knew for sure. He couldn’t stand to think it to himself and then to be wrong.

"Good morning Sol," Chandara replied with a smile rising gracefully to her feet. "Indeed." She agreed touching his horn with hers. She felt as though they had better be off and soon, once again she wasn't sure what the anxiousness meant. Even Sol seemed anxious and ready to be off.

Chandara stretched for a moment warming her sleep filled muscles. She often woke quickly but today she was rather lethargic.

"Lets get going then shall we?" she said simply after stretching. She knew he could understand what she meant.

The tall warrior smiled and nodded to his lady. “Yes, a fine notion,” he replied, setting off at an easy walk whilst their muscles warmed up properly. Ahead of them he could make out a brightly coloured splodge on the horizon, and he knew very well what it was despite not having been there in quite some time. Shrilal, the land where all Nequus came from. He’d always thought that quite a beautiful thing, no matter where you went in life you had begun in the same place as everyone else. That was right, somehow, it fitted.

That aside, he couldn’t help feeling that the bright place was where they were going, and if it was... He’d never felt anything like this pulling before, but he’d heard many tell of a feeling like it, and it was a feeling that inevitably lead to the place before them. Still, even knowing this he couldn’t yet bring himself to voice his thoughts on the matter; it would make them real, would make him want things and if he turned out to be wrong it would be crushing. With this in mind, the grey stallion walked onward, glancing over at Chandara from time to time with soft smiles. If it was what he thought it was, he hoped she was as exited as he was.

Walking contently beside her warrior deeper into the birthplace of all nequus. If she could hears Sol's thoughts she would have agreed to them wholeheartedly. It was beautiful in a sense all being from the same place.

Chandara stared at the glowing golden spot in the distance feeling that’s were they were heading. Wonder, anxiousness and excitement the emotions swirled beneath the surface within the mare but she kept herself clam. What if they were wrong?

"Sol, do you think?" she said quietly wondering his thoughts on the matter as they continued into Shrilal.

The dark-eyed stallion looked over at Chandara, looked ahead and then back at the elegant mare beside him. “I think... I think we are drawn here for a purpose,” he said slowly after a moment or two. “We will find out one way or the other soon enough; if it is what I think it is, it will be on the edge of the forest, and we will know it.”

They would know it. It was a strange thought really, strange that they would recognize something they’d never seen before and yet it was another thing that felt right. After all, should they not know themselves and one another? Not only did saplings tend to look like those from whom they had sprung, but he had always heard it said that the sight of the saplings resonated in your heart the same way the sight of your beloved did. Sol looked over at Chandara again and smiled to himself. Yes. He would know the saplings when he saw them, if indeed they were there.

“How are you feeling this morning?” the warrior asked after a short pause. He knew enough about the process of trees to know that the drain on her wouldn’t be too severe until the bud or buds sprung forth, but if there was a pair of saplings waiting for them she was probably feeling something of the deep weariness that would soon come.

"That I do believe," she said with a smile to her companion “without a purpose we wouldn't even be in this area." then Chandara gave a nod of agreement as they continued walking "Yes, we will know it" Chandara agreed quietly turning her head back to gazing forward at their destination.

Chandara's ears swiveled toward Sol catching his question Chandara turned he head to speak to him "mm? I'm more tired today than usual" she told him.

The tall stallion nodded at that, feeling more and more certain by the moment. They were pulled to Shrilal, and Chandara was weary. It was all adding up to one thing, to a growing fruit tree, to children. Was he ready for that? The tall warrior smiled over at Chandara and decided that if he was not, he would become so very swiftly. Besides, he was certainly exited at the prospect and surely wanting the children was half the battle of being a decent parent. Love had to be the first thing, the most important thing of all. If there was love, everything else would surely follow.

As they drew still nearer to the mighty forest before them, Sol found himself scanning for a patch of blue or purple with white by its side but as yet he couldn’t pick such a thing out of the confusion of colours. Still, the pull seemed to wish to turn his hooves in a slightly different direction, and the dark-eyed Ichsa followed the impulse gladly, feeling his heart beat faster and faster the closer they got to the treeline. Not long now, not long until they would know for sure.

“Chandara?” the warrior turned to his lady once more and gave her a smile. “Are you... are you happy about this?” He was almost sure that she would be, but almost sure was still almost; he wanted to be certain.

That’s right isn't it? She thought to herself she would become a mother, any doubt she had earlier had vanished the closer they came. Her a mother? Could she be what she and Sol's children needed? True she was excited but at the same time anxious she knew she would love them just as she loved Sol but would they love her? And why was she already worried about this? Her heart pounded faster, the closer they came.

Instinctively following the invisible thread that compelled her and Sol closer to the growing tree she didn't glance to the side but kept her eyes focused forward. They would be brought before the golden leafed sapling with both of their colours intertwined.

"Sol," she said his name quietly "Yes, I am very happy about this" she smiled and nuzzled her dear companion whom walked beside her.

The tall stallion smiled and relaxed a notch, nuzzling Chandara back. “Good,” he said with a nod, “I am too.” He hadn’t needed to state it aloud in all likelihood, but he felt better for doing so in any case; it made the whole thing feel more real. In all truth, the growing reality of the situation was somewhat frightening.

Chandara and their child or children would be counting on him completely until the fruit or fruits hatched. He believed he was up to the task, of course, but it was hard not to worry about failure all the same. Still, he would try; all he could do was his very best and he would certainly do that, for now and forever. If he was to be a father there was really no other option.

As these thoughts had run through the stallion’s head, they had drawn close to the border of Shrilal and, when the dark-eyed Ichsa focused back on the world, he paused mid-stride. A small pair of saplings, not yet twined together but reaching toward one another. They were undeniably familiar.

Feeling that he wouldn’t be able to express how he felt by any words he could muster, Sol turned to the mare beside him and smiled.

The elegant mare smiled still her worries vanished knowing full well Sol also anticipating their children's growth could not abandon her and help her through this and she wouldn't have to worry about it. Yet she still hoped she was strong enough not knowing how many fruits would appear on the branches till much latter.

"I know you will do fine." she said sensing his slight distress and nuzzling him back.

Upon seeing the the sapling Chandara's heart skipped she had to be strong enough, strong enough for those yet to come into the world.

Sol smiled over at his mate (was she his mate? Could he think of her that way?) and gave her a nod. “I shall.” He would have to; failure was not an option, and wasn’t something he tended to allow even when it was. There would no doubt be difficulties along the way, but Chandara would support him when he needed it and he would support her, and they would both support the foal or foals that sprung from the saplings before them.

Smiling again, the pale stallion nuzzled at Chandara’s elegant neck. “I love you.” He was going to have a family again; a family. Sol had never really thought too much about what death brought, but he was sure it had brought his mothers and father happiness, and that if they could see him now they would be proud. Perhaps if there were enough foals, he could name them after his parents; they would like that, he thought.

"I love you too," she replied affectionately it was something she truly had meant she loved her Sol more than anything and her love would only grow when the fruit(s) grew and became a foal or foals. now would be the start of many months of waiting and exhaustion.

He awoke just as the weak winter sun began to creep over the horizon. Blinking sleepily, Sol looked over at the orange glow and smiled faintly; another day. Sighing softly to himself, the tall stallion got to his hooves and took in his surroundings more carefully. Not a soul in sight, save for his mate and the six fine fruits growing on the tree she slept under. As he looked up at his future children, Sol frowned thoughtfully; something about them seemed a little different today...

Could it be?

“Chandara,” the grey called softly, “Chandara I think... I think it might be the day.”

Chandara smiled weakly opening her dark eyes and nodded it felt right, it was time. The energy the required had been dwindling the last few days. The months had drained her considerably and she was never able to leave the tree which she watched grow and bear 6 fruits. Chandara smiled affectionately to Sol, she couldn’t even stand. Chandara looked up to the fruits she and Sol had created, their children who would enter the world this day.

“Sol!” she said suddenly seeing two of the fruits move.

Two fruits wiggled falling to the ground with a delicate thump as they landed on the soft grass

Chandara tried to stand but her legs still felt so weak… She wanted to be with the fruits that had fallen and the rest of them that were to come.

The two foals began to take form as they emerged from their fruits.
