howls moving castle by diana wynne jones is about a young girl name Sophie Hatter who is the eldest of three. she goes out one day to seek her fortune after being changed into a ninety year old woman by the witch of the waste who is a very wicked lady that likes to curse people for no reason at all. Sophie ends up in the castle of the ever notorious Wizard Howl as his cleaning lady. Howl himself is portrayed to be very horrible and "eats the hearts of young girls" which there isn't much truth to that besides the fact that he falls in love with girls and then leaves then once they fall in love with him. Howl himself is very vain and fickle. Sophie makes a deal with the fire demon Calcifer, who runs the castle, to break the spell on her if she breaks the contract between him and Howl, which is very hard to do since the main clause of the contract is to not talk about it. SO Sophie is given various hints throughtout the story.
Howl's moving castle was made in to a Miyazaki Film by Studio Ghibli, through base on the book ends very differently. So check them both out. They're awesome, Hell Ya!

Ahhh! I loved the book 15x better than the movie. Hayao changed too many things, but I still liked it. I also read the second book that is its sequel (Castle in the Air) but I wasn't quite as fond of it. I am trying to get ahold of the third book (House of Many Ways).

I haven't read the book. I didn't even know there was a book. I loved the movie, though. My sister and I especially loved watching the Japanese trailers and see how the translations come out in English. Some of them are very funny. But I'll see if I can find the book. Thanks for sharing that.

Yes, of course I have. I read comics too, you know. >_< But why would a book in a novel form be in a manga shelf? o_O

There's a third one? I read the first and the second, but the first was a lot better. And it was loads better than the movie, which had awesome animation but didn't make any sense! To me anyway, I never can get the plot of those asian moves rolleyes lol
(I'm new btw. Hello *waves*)

It might be in the manga shelf because the movie was in manga form-ish so they probably made a manga book out of it.
