Before the Beginning of the End, Soul was born an ordinary person, in an ordinary life. There was no technology in this age, nor were there any new inventions. Being a commoner the years and the dates of time could slide by easily without a second thought to history. Why care about history when it was happening all around you? But that is all irrelevant. This is the story of Soul who, like most people, doesn’t remember much of her early childhood. She only remembers a few things that happened before The Day.
Soul is naturally mischievous. She loves her tricks and games to play, and often doesn’t bend to authorities way. Yet no on hated her, for she wasn’t mean nor rude (often), nor extremely different. She simply was an average girl who had dreams hidden away from the world, fairly normal then, all and all. Or, she was until The Day. The Day was her eighteenth birthday. She had invited several friends to come pick wild berries in the forest near by, not knowing a hungry vampire lurked, hidden in the shadows thirsting for blood. Soul’s trip started normally with plenty of giggles, finding a good spot to start, and the usual merrymaking while half the berries went into the baskets, while the other half found their way into the girls’ stomachs. As evening drew on though, and the shadows began to fall, the vampire attacked. It killed Soul’s two friends before they could escape, drinking their blood in a hungered frenzy. She ran, but not vast enough.
The morning came shining brightly on a blood splattered forest bush. Soul lay near by, cowering away from the sunlight that burned her skin. She didn’t understand what had happened, until the older vampire found her again, but this time she was changed. Night had fallen so she could wander about. Somehow she knew not to go back to the village. She knew she was changed, yet the difference was hard to mark. The older vampire tried to explain the situation, but the new emotions, the new hunger, and the new strength overwhelmed Soul. She ended up killing the vampire that had changed her. Year after year after year she wandered the world, drinking blood, hiding from authorities... until the Haven of the Revenants family found her. There at last she stopped hiding, slowly beginning to fit into a new society. Of course, she tried to forget her wild nights of the past, which were not very pleasant, and move on with life... or what was left of it.
