Name : Makoto Landry
Gender : Male
Age : 13
Year : Third
House : Hufflepuff

Ethnicity : Half Welsh, half Japanese
Physical Desc. : Makoto is tall and slender, with shoulder-length mahogany hair cut with long bangs framing his face on the left side. His eyes are a deep shade of brown speckled with green, with small orange starbursts around the pupils. His pupils are also rather large due to his nearsightedness; he wears black, plastic-framed squarish glasses.

Pet : A black cat with bright green eyes named Pepper. Pepper is an affectionate animal who will generally beg for attention from anyone she deems worthy of associating with her. She also refuses to chase mice or small animals of any sort, and while she gets along great with dogs, loathes other cats.
Home Life : Though not rich, Makoto's family lives a comfortable life in a small home outside of Liverpool near the River Mersey. During summer break, the entire family visits Airi's sister, Hiroko and her family in America.

Makoto's mother Airi runs her own business providing cooking and cleaning services for squibs and wizards who are incapable of, or are too busy to do so themselves. When they were younger, Makoto and his brother Tatsuya would go with her as their father tended to be busy with work during the week, and Airi saw no reason to pay for a babysitter, as she felt they could learn something from the experience. Gentle and caring, Airi also has a nasty stubborn streak, which she luckily passed on to only one of her sons, Tatsuya.

His father Gareth, on the other hand, is very easy-going and doesn't like starting fights, so he tends to go along with what other people say and do, so long as it isn't against his idea of what's right and good. He's a religious man, and insists on the entire family attending church on Sundays and holidays. He works as a member of Magical Maintenance at the Ministry, and often puts in more hours than necessary due to slight OCD. On the weekends and his days off, he enjoys spending time with his family, often taking them to the movies, bowling, or mini golfing.

Tatsuya is older than Makoto by 3 years, and the two have never been exactly close. Having gotten some of the worst traits from both of their parents, he is a rather disagreeable person. Upon turning eleven, he decided to move in with his aunt and attend school in America, much to both of his parents' disappointment.

Diving deeper : Makoto was born on the 13th of February, although he rather dislikes the cold and prefers the milder spring and fall weather. A very friendly and outgoing boy, as well as a loyal friend, he is not so quick to judge. When asked about his sexual preference, he generally responds with a vague answer such as, "I prefer girls." Slightly vain, he takes very good care of his looks but also encourages others to do the same. Once on a dare, he tried a Blood Pop and found he likes them rather well, however he dislikes the sight of blood. He can't wait to get his Apparition license, because due to his being severely allergic to Floo Powder, transportation is difficult. He is rather good with potions and simple charms, but has difficulty with transfiguration. He loathes history, as he's not so good with dates and such, unless he finds the subject particularly interesting. He's also very much a Mama's boy.

Taking a closer look : (a flashback to when Makoto was 6)

"Mum?" Makoto asked, staring solemnly at his mother from his perch atop a tree stump in the neighbors' back yard.

Airi appeared to be a tiny wisp of a girl, even in her early thirties. Her long, dark hair fluttered about in the gentle breeze and a soft smile graced her lips as she hummed under her breath. Glancing up from the laundry she was hanging on the line strung between two large maple trees, her eyes sparkled.
"Yes, dear?" She responded, carefully pinning a shirt to the line as she waited for him to speak up.

"How did you and Dad meet?" Makoto asked her, absentmindedly chewing on a strand of hair that had fallen in front of his face.

"Now that brings back memories..." Airi replied, soft laughter like bells spilling out. "I was on vacation in London with my family, and your father happened to be on his way to the Ministry to apply for a job. He was nervous, and a bit near-sighted like you, Makin." Sitting down on the grass, her skirts spread neatly around her, she winked when Makoto scowled at her pet name for him.

Well, anyways... He wasn't paying all that much attention to where he was going, and I was talking to your Auntie Hiroko, who was behind me. We ran right into each other, and caused quite a mess in the process, as we had been shopping earlier. And your father... I'll never forget those first words he said to me. 'You have got the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen, miss.' Airi laughed again, and Makoto smiled. He thought his mother was most beautiful when she laughed, practically glowing with an inner happiness that was infectious.

"So you two accidentally bumped into each other, and it was love at first sight, right? What a coincidence," Makoto's older brother Tatsuya remarked sarcastically as he leaned against one of the maple trees the clothesline was attached to. He then rolled his eyes at his younger sibling, who was now glaring at him.

Raising a single delicate brow, her face now serious, their mother responded,
"There is no such thing as an accident or coincidence in this world. Only hitsuzen, or the inevitable; fate." At the unimpressed look she got from her eldest son, she sighed and stood, brushing off her skirts before speaking to him. "Tatsuya, have you finished beating Mrs. Harper's rugs yet?"

to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Oh, I really do love everything about Makoto. From his eyes, to his pet,
to the descriptive family members, then his personality, but most of all
I enjoyed reading the roleplay. You're brilliant. I'd give you a trophy if
I could. Hope to see you posting around the guild real soon! <3
