It was a hot day, like really hot, and Kwa'Moyo had no idea where he was. The big red lion stopped for a bit and looked around, the Rogue Lands didn't exactly have any major landmarks... so he couldn't pinpoint where he was. Frustrated, he starting walking again. Kwa had seen every manner of creature recently, so he was very happy about that, thinking of all the new friends he had made changed his mood very quickly, he loved meeting new people.

Spotting a tree with a bit of shade in the distance, Kwa bolted to it to get out of the hot sun. Plopping down, he let out a sigh of relief, it was much cooler here. He laid his head down and rested for a bit.

User Image Risasi was not a fan of hot days. Which was not good for him, considering how often it was hot and how little he could do about it. He had thought about finding a waterhole, but that would have required effort and energy: two things he just could not muster up.

So the young leopon had flopped himself down under a shady tree. He had fallen to sleep, only mildly comforted, only to be awoken when a moving shadow passed over him. He woke on instinct, eyes narrowing as he watched a red lion moved close. Risasi watched carefully as the big male laid down, clearly as uncomfortable under the blazing sun as Risasi had been.

Eyes focused, the cub decided it would be best to move from his spot against the tree trunk, crouching as he scuttled to the edge of the shade. Having very few interactions with others, he did not know what to do. Torn between running and introducing himself, he remained silent, staring, unmoving and waiting for the big male to make a move.

Kwa opened his eyes suddenly, something didn't feel right. He had that feeling that someone was watching him... but he hadn't seen anyone when he walked over to the tree. Cautiously he rose from his lying position and looked in front of him. Nothing.

Quickly he turned around at the ready only to see....
a small blue and white cub, staring back at him. Surprised, Kwa immediately backed down so he wouldn't scare him. He didn't know what kind of animal he was surprisingly, but he still wanted to be nice, "Hello, sorry if i scared you. My name is Kwa'Moyo."

Risasi was more than tense when the big lion moved. He pressed himself low to the ground, though his coloring did not lend itself to blending in. Perhaps they lived in a snowy place he might have had more luck with it, but as it was his soft blue fur was more a liability than an asset. Blinking, he was somewhat relieved as the big lion seemed to relax, and even more so when he spoke.

Pushing himself into a sitting position, the cub, dwarfed by the newly introduced Kwa’Moyo, tried to look as tough and old as he could. He did not like being timid, though it was an unavoidable part of his nature, and now that they were entering conversation he felt obligated to play a more aggressive role.

“I’m Risasi,” he said, his voice cracking. “I wasn’t scared. I just didn’t want to disturb you. Are you resting from the heat of the day?”

Kwa watched as the young.... whatever he was, sat up and started to speak. He grinned a little as his voice cracked, he was trying so hard to look tough too. Risasi was his name, now if only he knew what he was.

"Yes in fact i am," Kwa responded, "that is if you don't mind sharing your spot. Im sorry i didn't see you earlier. I was just walking and saw the shady spot."
He sat down when he noticed he was still tensed up, 'yeah that was nice Kwa' he said to himself, 'scare the kid half to death, thats good.'
"Im sorry if this is an odd question, but what kind of animal are you?" Kwa asked with interest.

Risasi bristled, his ears flattening against his head as he tilted his head at the older lion. He wasn’t intimidating, per se, considering the soft grin he was wearing, but the young cub knew it was at his expense. His failed efforts to be tough were well noted by the red lion, which only made Risasi blush.

“It’s not my spot, so you can stay here,” he said innocently, pointing out a fact rather than brushing off the apology. He took it at face value, and responded as if Kwa had really been concerned about taking this shady spot from the cub.

Arching an eyebrow, his eyes widening, he puffed out his chest, “I’m a lion!” he said, adjusting his position to echo that of Kwa, “and leopard, but mostly lion, I promise. Like you! I want to have a mane, and everything. I mean, I will have one.”

Kwa watched as Risasi's ears flattened back and his cheeks flare up and instantly felt bad again, 'man i need to get better with dealing with young things,' he thought. He liked him though, he was a tough little guy, and Kwa needed to let him know he knew so.

He noticed how he had shrugged off his question about taking his spot, and then puffed out his chest. So he was a lion/leopard mix? that was interesting. Love knew no bounds he thought with a shrug.

"Oh thank you for allowing me sit with you then," Kwa started, "and a lion and leopard mix? Thats pretty cool! You'll have the mane and strength of a lion and the grace and speed of a leopard! You look tough enough already to me," Kwa finished with a bow.

“I like company,” Risasi said timidly, in response to Kwa thanking him. He smiled and flexed his paws happily as the older lion described, what seemed to Risasi, the perfect future. He wanted to grow up to be more than he was right now. Something stronger, faster, and more intimidating than the light blue cub that had soft, tender eyes. It made him beam, then, when Kwa told him he already looked tough.

But he was not as gullible as he sometimes allowed himself to be, for the sake of his pride. He knew better than to take the older lion at his word, and knew how to recognize when he was being placated. “You look really tough,” he said in an effort to change the subject, “I bet you had a mane when you were younger. Lions are really cool. I want to be strong like you are.”

By ‘you’ he meant lions in general, having no idea if Kwa was strong at all, but from the look of him Risasi felt safe in assuming so. The young cub took a lot of joy in watching the lions, particularly the males, go about their business. It was exhilarating when one deigned to hunt, or got in a fight with someone else. He longed to be like them, but knew his leopard blood would affect his growth.

Not that he had anything against leopards. He loved his family, and his streamlined body. He was simply a dreamer who wished to be strong and big enough to make his goals come true. He would never be able to maintain peace, to help others, to be a good force in his pride if he grew up to be small.

Kwa looked as Risasi beamed as his compliments, and felt better for almost scaring the poor cub before. He laughed when he was accused of having a mane as a cub, "I actually only starting to grow a mane a few years ago, it all just started to come in really quickly. You'll get yours, just give it time," he assured the cub. Kwa was surprised when the cub said he was strong, sure he knew he was, but he had never heard someone actually say it before. Hearing it made him want to go do something, he almost felt like showing off for the little cub.

"Come on, lets go see how strong you really are. We can go find something that will really test our strength!" Kwa said to Risasi with enthusiasm.

Risasi opened his mouth to reply, then shut it. He didn’t know what to think about the older lion’s invitation. If they went and found something to do, it might end badly for the cub. He might embarrass himself with being too weak or nervous, or clueless. He was not particularly adept at… anything, and hadn’t been given much time or cause to practice hunting or fighting or anything of the sort.

“Okay!” he said exuberantly despite, or in spite of, his hesitations. He was compelled to prove himself to Kwa, and was even more excited to see what the big red male could do, “let’s go! It’s not that hot any more! What do you want to do?”

He bounced up and down, his light paws barely making a mark in the ground beneath him, though he kicked up a bit of dust through the motion. His eyes were bright and full of anticipation, his muscles coiling, ready to allow him to dart off in any direction at the drop of a hate. All Kwa needed to do was say the word.

Kwa watched as Risasi thought to himself, probably thinking to himself about Kwa's invitation. He smiled at his enthusiastic response, "Yeah, it isn't that hot out anymore, we just need to find something to do..." he said looking around.

He watched Risasi bounce up and down, the excitement clearly visible in the young cub. "Lets see what we can do, which do you want to do first? I have an idea for a speed and strength test we can do just off the top of my head." he said looking at the cub.

Risasi did not know what they could. He panicked, trying to come up with a good idea that was not only fun, but appropriate for a fully grown lion. He doubted the red male would want to go bug hunting or tree climbing, as much as the young leopon enjoyed such games. Frivolity would probably irritate the older lion, and make him dislike Risasi for his childishness. Not wanting this to happen, the blue cub searched his head vigorously for something interesting.

He was saved from the effort, however, when Kwa indicated he had an idea. Surprised and thankful, Risasi grinned and, padding the ground eagerly, looked up at his knew acquaintance eagerly, “let’s do whatever you have in you mind! I bet it’ll be fun. I’m pretty fast, and I think I’m strong.” He knew they were bold statements, but he wanted so much for them to be true it did not seem out of place for him to say them out loud. This was, after all, the perfect chance to prove himself as good as his word.

Kwa smiled at the young cub, he was having trouble coming up with an idea that was appropriate for the cub, and needless to say himself. He wouldn't give RIsasi something hard to start with... he spotted a tree coming up on their left and had an idea. "Ok, the first test! First one to climb up the tree wins!" he said looking at the young cub.

The tree was massive to say the least, it had to be ancient. Kwa didn't know how he didn't see it from where they were before. The branches were healthy and big enough to easily support him, and the test would be one of speed, strength, and agility. "Lets see what you can do!" he said to Risasi, "Ready, set go!" he yelled.

Risasi spotted the tree Kwa meant to use for their game. It was huge, compared to the fairly small cub, and immediately he was intimidated. But his eager pride told him not to back down, that he could do it, and that the older lion would be impressed to see it. Nodding at the terms of the challenge, he bounced up and down for a moment to fill his limbs with energy. Coiling down, his tail wagging furiously, he dug his claws into the earth and poised himself to run.

When the word 'go' hit the air the cub tore across the plain, kicking up a cloud of dust in his wake. His haphazard strides took him shooting to the base of the tree, which he leapt at and clung to desperately with his small claws. Hauling himself up, he began the arduous task of climbing the epic tree. He lost sight of his competition, imagining himself in the lead and keeping his motivation in high gear. Stumbling and scrambling, he eventually pulled himself as high as he could go, sitting on a branch to catch his breath.

Panting, his mouth open and tongue out as if he were a wild dog, he looked around for Kwa.

As soon as Kwa said go, Risasi sprinted towards the tree, really quickly actually. Kwa grinned, he wasn't going to go easy on this cub, mainly because Kwa didn't think Risasi wanted pity, he'd want to win fair and square. Deciding to actually get into the race, Kwa took off.

He was a red flash on the way to the tree, running as fast as he could. Getting to the tree a few moments after Risasi, he saw the cub pulling himself up, Kwa looked around at the tree and found a quick path up. Leaping from branch to branch, Kwa easily covered half the tree in seconds.

Figuring it was a good stopping point, he had seen Risasi stop below him, head scanning the tree, looking for Kwa. He hopped down a branch to the one right above Risasi and said, "You did good kid, but Im afraid I did better"
