Eh. If you're nervous, gently pinch your palm in the area between your thumb and fingers. This is supposedly a pressure point to help calm you.
Really, I'm scares shitless talking to my rabbi about anything.
How old are you?
OH!!!
The othodox conversion has had a big overhaul and big like upheval. I know my rabbi isn't working with anyone right now because of what has changed. So Just be aware of that going in.
Are you kosher? Do you keep shabbos?
Does the rabbi know you or is this really the first time he's gotten to talk to you?
((should I already know this stuff ??))

No one expects you to be das uber juden on day one. They're going to be happy you're through the door and want to go the extra step and start the conversion process. The fact that you already know some of the mitzvot and remember them is a plus, but not a requirement.
In short, they're not going hold it against you that you are still learning how to practice.

I hear that is true for the Conservative and Reform movements but this is Orthodox. Ah well.

Orthodox is the same deal, Just a few more customs to follow and a few differences in the dress code. That's all. And if he can get in and study the Talmud, then so can you!

I agree- I know it must be very stressful, but they can't expect somebody trying to convert to know everything about Judaism. It's just not possible. Don't be discouraged if they try to put you off converting- it's really just for you to prove you truly want to be Jewish. Good luck, and don't waste time worrying about "probably"s. Actually, don't waste time worrying; whatever happens, will happen. Take care.

lol if you keep kosher already you have like a huge jump a head from the start line already. this also proves that you clearly do know something, you know a lot about at least keeping kosher.
Yea don't try and force yourself to be a super jew over night (or even in a course of a few months) Just got at your own pace, slowly work up doing more. When you are ready to take on something else you'll know. If you try and force stuff on you it might not work.
:hugs:
I want things to go good for you alright, and if you are upset tomorrow pm me, anything. I'll talk to you. I know how painful it can be to be rejected, even though you know it's normal. I know everything will go well.
((Just if you're under 18, I'd wait. I didn't and I paid for that.)

Thank you Yvette, Neuf, and Phoenix. Yvette, I am actually twenty years of age. I wanted to make sure I was mature before doing this.

Let me know how it goes? Good luck, I think it'll probably be terrifying but I'm pretty sure you get brownie points for even trying. So, even if you are turned away, this is a process. Maybe in a few years, go back and he'll realize you're serious in a way he can't now. IF he kicks you out. I don't know too much about it, as you know, but I'm reasonably sure you'll be okay.

You are mature enough, don't worry. ::hugs:: You will convert, you have always been mature enough. ::hugs::
It may not happen this year, but when you are ready to keep shabbos then it will most likely happen. ::hugs::

Think of it like this: Judaism is not a goal, not a destination, it is a journey. This is just one step in that journey. Take the step, and savor it, even if it happens to rain. It's not worth it if it's too easy.

In Medias Res II LordNeuf ...they're not going hold it against you that you are still learning how to practice. I hear that is true for the Conservative and Reform movements but this is Orthodox. Ah well. It's even more true for Orthodoxy. There's so much more to learn, especially about prayer and daily observance, that they just assume that a person walking in the door is a complete beginner in everything. That's why the first questions out of their mouths will be, "Are you sure you want to be a Jew? Are you sure you really want to be affiliated with the Jewish people, knowing what big targets we are and how dangerous it can be?" They won't ask you if you're sure you want to obey the 613 commandments, because they'll just assume you only know about ten of them, so how could you be sure about obeying the other 603? They'll be sure, though, that you've at least heard of the Holocaust and anti-Semitism, so they'll start there. Also, don't worry about how "little" you know, which is probably more than you realize. Learn one thing at a time. Take on one mitzvah at a time. The goal is to make small changes that will last, and that will become a large pile of changes in time. "One grain of rice helps her sisters fill the bowl." "Every beach is made of tiny grains of sand." Do one mitzvah at a time, keep it consistently and well. With kashrut, start by refusing to eat one thing that you normally wouldn't enjoy anyway, then later add something that you might enjoy but that is not kosher, and so on. With Shabbat, start by not logging in on Shabbat, then not turning on the computer, then not turning lights on or off (get timers, they help), then... and so on. smile One increment at a time. It will build upon itself, you'll see.
