For a full day, Oboé had been stalking it; a stray gazelle, out on its own. It was stupid and had somehow been separated from its herd. Of course, Oboé didn't care how stupid or how smart it was; she just wanted to eat. She yawned quietly, blinking her relaxed eyes as she watched the gazelle feed. The sun was almost fully set and its remnants were warm on her back. Slowly, her eyes began to close and she drifted into a half-asleep state. The gazelle would still be there when she opened her eyes, right?

WAIT, no. That wasn't good. Oboé snapped open her eyes and crouched lower to the ground. She looked left, then right. The gazelle wasn't there anymore...But where could it have gone? Oboé furrowed her brows and continued to look for it. Then, she spotted it. It was right in front of her. So close...Oboé knew it was time to attack. But not too quickly, she told herself. Just a moment longer...

Usiku'busu wasn't the most skilled hunter in the world. It just wasn't one of his priorities, oddly enough. He did well enough to get by and that was good enough for him. Sometimes a window of success would appear and he'd pass it up for something more interesting...but today wasn't one of those times. In fact, a hunt was a small relief from his boredom.

He spotted a gazelle, all on her own...well, it was just too hard to resist. He followed at a distance, keeping his eyes squarly on his prey. He didn't even notice that the prey-beast was wandering close to another predator. So he crouched down, waited for the gazelle to turn away...

He pounced forward at the gazelle, claws out and jaws wide.

There it was. She saw it.

The perfect moment...

Oboé spread her claws and curled her lip, baring her sharp, white fangs as though she was smiling. She gripped her back feet into the dirt and readied herself to pounce. Then, she sprang.

But she stopped short. There were loud rustling sounds in the bushes and the gazelle sprinted away instantly. Oboé gaped in confusion. She hadn't even pounced yet. What had caused the gazelle to run? Deciding not to give chase, Oboé groaned in defeat. She'd have to wait longer for a meal.

But then she spotted it--Him. A male leopard. Their eyes met and Oboé stared. So he was the reason the gazelle ran away...Had they both managed to stalk the same prey? A smirk tugged at Oboé's lips, but she managed to hold it down. Little things like that amused her rather than aggitated her.

"Where'd you come from?" Oboe asked, tilting her head carelessly.

The gazelle had slipped right through his claws...oh well. Such was life. He hadn't been really hungry anyway. Hunting could come later. But the prey beast had cured him of his boredom; in fact, it had brought to someone, or someone, far more interesting.

"Don't tell me I was so stealthy I caught even you unawares? It'd be a sad thing for both of us...since the gazelle got away. That can't make us look too good," he replied, his voice light and teasing. Obviously he found amusement in the situation as well. But then, he tended to find something fun in everything...it was his lifestyle.

Oboé smiled stupidly at his comments. "I suppose I did let my guard down." she said. She slunk out of her hiding space in the bushes and shook a few leaves from her pink fur. She sighed and blinked at the male leopard. "No, really," she drawled, smirking. "Where did you come from? How long have you been standing there?" Oboé sat, wiping a paw over her face as if she were expecting a long story. "I'd been stalking that creature for quite a while." she explained. "And as far as I can tell, no one else was around. Either you're extremely skilled," she said, smiling lightly. "or I turned into a bad hunter overnight."

"Well, I'm sure it's not either," he chuckled, though the comment was rather serious. His skills were not extremely high...passable, yes, but that was about it. Everyone had their off days...or even simply off moments, in this leopardess's case. He was sure that was all it had been. Not that he thought it really mattered overall.

"I haven't been in the area long...I've been walking all morning, really. Traveling, you see. I just saw the gazelle and thought...why not? Sorry for messing up all your hard planning," he offered a charming smile, though his apollogy was rather genuine.

"Oh, you think so?" Oboé asked, smiling. Her eyes slowly moved to the sky and she gazed at its blueness for a moment. She listened to him with full interest, although it looked like she wasn't paying much attention to anything at all. The lazy smile stayed on her face and she swished her tail back and forth where she sat. It really was a nice day...

"Ah, I really don't mind." she said, after he had finished. "It wasn't much...hard planning..." She flicked her head to the side and chewed at an itch on her shoulder. "Darn, pesky--" she murmured, cutting herself off. She sat up again and stared at him as if nothing had happened. "So you're a wanderer, then? Interesting, interesting..." she said wryly, a smirk taking the place of her relaxed smile. "Looking for adventure, or just a place to stay?" she asked teasingly.

Usiku raised his eyebrows a little as she admited she hadn't put too much thought into the hunt. Well he supposed that was a good thing to hear...it meant he hadn't botched something extremely important. So with that he let the issue go. He was never one to over-worry things. It took too much effort and wasted too much time. Life was far too short, right?

"How about anything that suits my facy?" He grinned a little, flicking his tail, "But if I don't get that option adventure might sum it up...I've never really been one that wants to stay in one place. I like waking up to something new every morning. There's just too much in the world to see."

He tilted his head a little, "What about you, hmmm?"

"Me?" Oboé questioned herself aloud. "I'm on the run." she said quietly, her flighty demeanor taking a dark turn. She paused, examining the startled look on the male's face, then she laughed. "I'm only kidding." she said. She flicked her tail and made herself more comfortable in a patch of dirt she decided to lie down in. "I'm just wandering." she explained airily. "If I get tired of one place, I move to another. That's really all there is to it." She grinned at the male, wondering if that sounded stupid or not. Something in his eyes that resembled hers intrigued her. Maybe this male was more like her than she first thought?
"...What are you...Called?" Oboé asked suddenly, giving him a calm stare.
