Unusually for the summer, it was raining. It wasn't a heavy rain, but it was pervasive and had been going for quite a few hours. Initially, the rain had felt humid and oppressive, but as time went on it was becoming wonderfully cooling, and seemed to refresh the parched earth. Inali stood in the midst of it now, as it turned her already dark coat nearly black, letting it reach past her coat to her skin. It felt good, after so long in the heat. It was... almost cleansing.
A cleansing seemed to be what Inali needed. She held so much inside, and lately it had been coming out in negative ways. It was just so hard to find someone who could provide that cleansing. It seemed like all most seemed to do was get mistaken maternal feelings out of her, or anger. Would there ever be anyone else who could be something different? Inali would even take simple friendship, as long as it did not have too many complications. In a life full of those, Inali had had enough.
Shaking a silver forelock out of her equally silver eyes, Inali lifted her head up to feel the rain hit her nose, trailing down to her forehead, and eventually sliding down her neck. It felt delightful, making her shiver in the sheer pleasure of it all. It felt so good, and somehow almost... naughty. It had been a long time since Inali had felt like /that/, thank you very much, and quite frankly, that was the last thing she needed in her life at the moment. Oh gods, what a disaster that could prove to be!

Rain was usually a welcome thing to the black-coated Stallion. It washed away worries, dust, thoughts... Right now he didn't exactly want that. He was sick of carrying on like he'd been unaffected by everything that happened during his life. Lost love, lost family...
Now everything was so different. Returning to these lands had yielded to him the knowledge that his half-brother now was a Grandfather - Kai now a Grand-Uncle - and his father had found a female, had babies. It made him so angry to know this. It had been a comfort while he was gone to know that he wasn't the only one alone in his family.
Not anymore.
It only served to remind him that he'd loved, twice, and lost both of them.
Kai snorted, shaking a bead of water off his nose. Oh well, one part of him was now wet, might as well go out. He didn't know where to, since the rainclouds would probably stay into the night. His secret place was only special at night. The Stallion stepped out from under the rocky overhang and into the rain.

Blinking away raindrops from her eyes, Inali lifted her head once more to feel the rain, before lowering it. Now that she was soaking wet, it was less pleasant. Cold seemed to be seeping into her bones slowly but pervasively. Soon she would be shivering, if she kept it up.
Before Inali could even think of retreating to somewhere dry, however, she spotted another soquili nearby. Well, he had likely spotted her by now, and it would be rude for her to just walk away. With a heaving sigh, Inali trotted up to the stallion, stopping close enough to see his coloring. He was dark- likely a dark brown or a black, though it was hard to tell with the rain saturating everything.
"Greetings. I am Inali. What are you doing out in this weather?" Polite conversation always, even in the driving rain. By shifting from hoof to hoof, Inali was able to generate enough body heat to keep herself moderately warmer- enough so that she could hold up a conversation, at least.
"It's rather inclement. I was just about to go inside myself." About to, but not anymore. Now Inali was going to have a pleasant conversation, weather be damned. She had to, to uphold her own rather high standards. A small cold would be nothing in the face of being rude. If she got a cold, it would be dealt with. If she saw this stallion again, and had not spoken to him, she might have garnered another enemy.
