So recently our shull has gotten rid of our awesome cantor. This guy has improved the shull since it opened and made our small community better and bigger. But some board members didn't want to renew his contract. Yes it is sad but my family thinks he is on to better and bigger things in a another city. So we are staying at the shull, there is no point moving shulls to us. We have a building and a awesome rabbi.

Then 10 to 20 familys have resined and are trying to start a new congergation.
But i dont get the point? You need money a facility and having a temper tantrum over the cantor wont help a new congergation. I think it is stupid to resine. But it is all very confusing. And a dear member and friend just passed away a few days ago. I am not really sure how to deal with all of this.
What do you think about splitting the congergation?
Is it stupid?
And now we barley have enough kids for hebrew school...

Thanks

Jewish Alzheimer's : You forget everything except grudges.

Unfortunately these things happen. Be it from a power vacuum, or a change in the management. People form alliances and then like rats of a sinking ship, go elsewhere.

It's amazing how little and petty the bullshit is that can tear apart a community.

I don't really think you understand the whole new congergation thing. If you had been at some of the meetings for it you would see that some of us are trying to get something done. And its not like we're the "New Congergation of Bring the Cantor Back" BTW hes staying here.

I have never heard of that happening, also, not to be a grammar freak or anything, but you misspelled resign.

It was like my shul. We lost our rabbi and people had a fit. Now we have a new one and I think he is better than the old, but it is crazy how jews can't get it together and move on. I am semi-orthadox and many of the elders are like that.
