With a deep breath, Faile scented the air as she stood close to the river near the western border. Change was on the wind...the songs of dark packs rang through the night now, faintly but there. Eiros had returned from a foray past the borders confirming this, speaking of an encounter with a wolf that was both seer and shaman, that knew his name without introductions. Such things...they were strange, they were different, and they made Faile uneasy about what might be to come in the future. Would she soon be fighting to defend the home she had carved out for her family?

Blue eyes watched the moon trail across the night sky, what he could see of it from through the woods. He knew he was getting into dangerous waters, so to speak; Ailianthus had smelled the scent boundaries surrounding the area he was going towards...
The time for wandering was over. Ailianthus had always had a single place, lived in one spot and called it his home. However, recent misfortune had destroyed his little spot and the green male had taken to meandering the lands in search of a new home. He had some ambitions to fulfill, simple ones, but still necessary to him. Along with the banishing of wandering from his lifestyle, he intended to kill off the constant loneliness as well. The shaman knew the best remedy for both of the ailments that had him in their grasp- a pack. Both a place to rest your head and others to keep you company. He'd been a member of a pack once, as a pup, but then left in order to "find himself." He'd lost that lifestyle, but longed for it.
And so it was with these memories in mind that the male padded onward, slightly hesitant, but only slightly. He was ready to run, if need be, but he rather hoped for joining another's pack. Unless it was a mean one, of course. No, that simply wouldn't do.
Then a sound reached his ears, two really. One of another wolf, and one of a river. Ail grew slightly more nervous before pushing forward, hoping that the wolf (and their pack, for that matter,) would be kind. He pushed through, making noise on purpose so as not to startle whomever he was approaching.

Tensing at a rustling from within the forest, Faile watched the stranger emerge cautiously. "Hello there," she greeted him, in a quiet but firm tone as she raised her head and tail. "Do you seek something in Broken Shore?" A simple question, but one laden with meaning. If he had somehow missed the scent markings prior to their location, it would let him know that a pack did indeed occupy this territory. And if he had...well, now he had the name of that pack as well.

He knew someone would respond, and he was rather glad to have encountered another wolf upon stepping out from the shadows. Her reaction would tell him everything and anything he needed to know about this pack's general disposition, and they seemed good-hearted. He would have given a sigh of relief, but thought that answering questions should come first.
"Hello," he responded, keeping his ears perked up with curiosity, but his tail low. It was obvious from the way the ebony wolf held herself that she was the owner of these lands, and the shaman came in peace. Ail continued, "I hope I'm not terribly intruding, but I do seek something that I believe I could find here." He paused only momentarily, finalizing the wording of his response in his head. "I seek comrades, peace, and purpose, I believe that these lands could supply me with those, if I would be allowed?" He lowered his head as he asked the question.
"As of now I'm a wanderer, but I assure you that I can be of use." With the power he wielded, he had no doubt that he could. An afterthought came to him, for which he picked up his head again. "My name is Ailianthus, by the way." He decided to leave off the title he gave himself, Ailianthus of the mists, from his talents. If that topic came up, he would discuss it.
