I own the "Trigun" anime box set, and I'm up to "Trigun Maximum #12". There are lots of differences between the two. For example, I really like the streamlined art of the anime. I love Nightow's art, but sometimes it gets confusing, especially with the sound symbols all over the place. But I'm really enjoying the depth of the story in the manga, especially the backstory for characters like Legato.
If you've only seen/read one version, I highly recommend getting a hold of the other. Check your local anime store or online (justmanga.com and discountanimedvd.com are possible sources). Or try your local library. Many public and school libraries carry manga these days. (I know one high school library that had the complete set of "Gravitation", but I don't know if their administration comprehends "yaoi".)

I've only seen the Anime since I can't shop online for the manga and my local library doesn't carry it or the libraries around it.
I wanna see the movie though ;D

I've only seen the anime (more than once). I don't really buy manga. If I started, I would have to buy the whole collection, which can become expensive. Um..yeah..I'll check to see if my library has it. It might. I think my high school has it too..

For those who have not read the manga and are big Trigun fans, it's simply a MUST.
The manga's storyline blows the anime's right out of the damn water. The anime is a lot more humorous, but the best part about the manga is how detailed it is and how in depth.
You find out a lot of interesting tid-bits about the characters.
There is a lot of things you wouldn't know unless you read it.
Vash and Knives included.

The manga is the same to a point, but it gets REALLY different. Two really different stories.

The manga really gives more background on the characters. Knives hatred of humans has a lot more justification, for example. And Vash is not quite as innocent as he appears in the anime. In the manga, you discover that Vash and Knives were not the first independent plants, and the fate of the first (Tessla) was pretty horrible. Vash reacts to this as badly as Knives ... he even attacks and wounds Rem.
The manga also demonstrates why Knives has that name: his weapon of choice is not the "angel arm", but an enormous and incredibly sharp blade. That's what he uses to remove Vash's arm, which makes much more sense than the anime.
It's not surprising that the two forms are so different. Remember, the anime was produced while the manga was still in production, so Nightow may not have actually decided where the story was going.

I'd have to say that I for one love how graphic and detail the manga is especially with the way that the characters looked. But I also love the anima on the other hand...I mean come on now, it's in motion.

I have only seent the anime, sadly. And although I loved it, There was alot I didn't quite understand and the ending seemed rushed too. I am hoping to get my hands on the Manga someday to get a better idea of what I was missing. I heard from a zillion sources it was way better than the anime anyhow....
