The forest was calm and mellow and the sun rose into the sky shedding light over the treetops. It was much hotter here than further into the forest because here was only a few kilometers from the desert. Waking from his sleep Marty gave a stretch before shuffling up on all fours and packing up his things.
He was traveling now, determined to see what was outside his village. Not to mention he had kind of been kicked out of his village. It wasn't that he had done anything bad, he was just....a hazard to say the least. Bad luck seemed to follow him where ever he went but on his own he didn't have to worry about putting others in danger.
Giving another stretch Marty took in a deep breath of dry warm air. Hopefully a village wasn't far off. He needed to get some supplies for his journey and something to hold water in. His intent was to cross the desert and he wasn't sure how long it would take him.

Slinging his bag over his shoulder, Marty didn't even stop to find something for breakfast. He wanted to find a town quickly and get what he needed. With any luck if he went early enough there wouldn't be a lot of people. He wasn't good in crowds, a little clumsy to say the least. One would think he had been cursed as a centaur and had yet to learn how to use his legs.
As he walked the light that filtered through the trees warmed his face and he couldn't help but smile. He loved the sun, it was like a treasured gift. Stopping for a moment to enjoy a more open spot Marty heard something off in the distance. It sounded like there was someone struggling to get free from something.
Too curious for his own good he went to investigate and found a rather odd sight. Just ahead of him two legs were sticking out of the brush flailing away as he heard their owner grumble in her protest with the bush.
"Uhh...hello?" Marty walked a little closer but as soon as the girl in the bushes heard his voice her legs stopped moving. "Do...do you need some help?"
Coming up beside her the centaur grabbed hold of the girl's waist and plucked her from the bush with ease flipping her upright so she could stand on her own. She seemed a little rigid and her eyes looked a little fearful as she looked up at him, those large crimson eyes.
"Are you okay? Why were you...?" Looking down he saw what might have caused her to be in the bush to begin with, for tightly in her grasp was a small baby rabbit, curiously sniffing about and unafraid. "Is...is that your pet?"
The girl didn't answer but she did shake her head moving away from Marty a bit. Why was she so scared? He didn't think he was that frightening of an individual. That's when he realized, the rabbit was not her pet, it was her food. She was a wolf. At first he had not seen the bushy white tail behind her but now that he did chills ran up and down his spine. But why was he afraid? This girl was obviously more afraid of him then he was of her.
"Well, umm....so you think your okay?" He asked again. She seemed alright, just a few scraps here and there.
"Y...yes," The girl finally said though her voice was meek and rather strained like she hadn't used it in some time.
