It is 500 years from the time of the first "great war" as it would be known as. A new kingdom has risen, and they appear to have the ability to bend light itself. The avatar was killed 5 years ago by one of these "light benders" and no one knows where he or she is now. Without the avatar the nations have doubts they can beat the light benders, but they try. The next avatar, whoever it is, must be a water-bender. However, strange things have happened and no one is sure if the cycle even matters anymore. The light benders seem to be warping the minds of the other nations, causing panic to spread. A group of benders have been able to resist them however, and are trying to find the avatar to help win the war.

History: even he doesn't know his history, it all seems to be a blur to him. The only thing he knows about himself besides name and such, is that his bending seems to grow stronger when he's angry
