...Me! redface

My poor Ethan fell down our stairs (about 10 of them ) on Saturday morning! He had one of his Matchbox cars in his hand and his poor head caught the corner of it leaving a 1/2 inch gash. I've never seen so much blood in my life. He ended up needing a couple stitches. Besides that he is just fine. He was back to his normal self by Saturday night.

I feel so bad, I was the only one home when it happened. I should have been more careful! He is no longer allowed to carry toys when we are going up or down the stairs. I always make sure I hold his hand or am behind him.

Head wounds always look worse then they are and bleed like crazy. eek (When my brother fell in the tub when he was about three, ohemgee, you would have thought he was going to die. There was so much blood that my mother was too ill to do anything and I had to get him rounded up to go to the ER. Lol.)

Bumps, bruises and cuts all happen. It's life and you can't prevent them all. whee

Agreed. Cuts and falls can not be prevented. Trust me, your children will find a way to get hurt... trust me, my two year old daughter tries on a daily basis.

When she was about six months old, and we (me, hubby, and baby) were living with my parents, she pulled a custom lamp off a bookshelf into her pack-and-play during nap time. One of the globes (or glass bulb covers) broke when it fell and she ended up with a deep gash under her left eye which of course also bruised horribly! My poor husband who was home alone with her at the time started panicking! He called me right as I was leaving work so it wouldn't be a big shock to see her when I got home, but he waiting in case I wanted to come speeding home to be with her.

That night, my dad took a picture of her shiny black eye and cut and sent it to the family with the caption "You should see the other guy..."

We've had spills down the stairs, more gashes around the eyes, busted lips... and the list goes on. I don't think she'll make it to adulthood without breaking bones...

xd My Ethan has a permanent dent in his forehead from when he headbutted the railing on our stairs. Now that I've cut his hair short, you can see it again.

LOL so I think stairs hate us! We went and spent Friday thru Sunday at a lakeside cabin owned by some family friends. Well there are wooden stairs leading down to the lake area. I was carrying Ethan down the stairs (they were a little too steep for him) on the last one I stepped weird or something and rolled my ankle and down we went! Ethan is fine, it just scared him a little bit. Besides a few bruises and a sore ankle I'm fine too. I think Ethan and I need to stay away from stairs for awhile! blaugh

I think every mom feels like they deserve the worst mom award at least once in their life! Everytime something remotely "bad" happens to Aden I feel awful. Even if it's something I couldn't help, like if he scratches his own face or something. In his short (almost) five months he's had two minor sunburns (just little red cheeks is all)... and I feel like he should be taken away because I'm an unfit mom or something! I'll go crazy once the stairs become a threat!

Awww, don't beat yourself up hun.
Sometimes things happen that you can't do much about.
I am sure that you are an awesome mama.
Ethan is OK, that's all that matters
