Swafi Jr drifted along, mooching some might say, his hooves knocking loose pebbles from the dirt as he walked. He wasn't sure as to the source of his mood; loneliness maybe, or just the fact that out of all his siblings, he was the only one who made sure their mother was okay on a weekly basis. Which was tiring, and quite frankly a bit of a burden to place on any one young stallion.
He did love his mother..he just wanted a life of his own as well. But how did one go about getting said life? He supposed it meant getting out more, heading further afield, and he was doing just that, following the river away from the seaside, heading inland. He'd met Imrikalto by the water after all, even though he was also a stallion, it had been something.
He veered closer to the flowing river, catching sight of himself and shaking his head. Even if he did meet a mare he was unlikely to make a great friendship, he really had no idea what to say to anyone female other than his mother. He supposed that was what happened when you stayed away from company. Swafi Jr carried on walking, just following the winding waters way.

Cassandra or as her mother and friends call her, Cassie was seen laying on the river, resting after spending time with her half brother, Minty earlier in the day. Her ears flickered back and forth then perked up when she heard some pebbles moving. She hadnt thought of making new friends since Minty was a brother that she was always wanted.
".... I wonder.. someone is here?" She said to herself as she opened her eyes slightly to see if anyone is indeed here or not. She gets the feeling that she just may be needed to comfort someone.. or was she wrong about that?

Swafi Jr almost walked straight into the mare, he'd gotten lost in his thoughts again, and it was only due to his mind registering the fact that neither ground nor grass was that colour that stopped him from tripping over her.
'S-sorry!' he managed, somehow picking up a stutter from who knew where? He coughed, hoping that his next words wouldn't make him sound like a foolish colt.
'Umm, are you okay?' he asked, managing to say what was probably the right thing. The mare was a strange mixture of colours, yet they seemed to just fit her, and she was he thought, very pretty.

Cassie looks at him after he had crashed into her, suffering slight pain. She struggles to get up onto her feet and nodded. "I'll be fine. You don't have to be so nervous." She said with a small girlish giggle that she normally do. "I am Cassandra but do call me Cassie. What is your name?"
She was wondering why he seem to be so nervous or as it seem to be nervousness to her. "I bet you were daydreaming.. were you? Don't feel bad about that. I do that from time to time. I think that is why I am always alone. My herd doesn't interact with me except for my half brother who is my best friend."

Obviously he had not stopped quick enough, and mortified he almost felt that he should be running away now.
'Cassandra.' he replied. It was a pretty name, but now he realised it had sounded like he had said his name was also 'Cassandra'! 'I'm Swafi Jr,' he spoke again hurriedly. 'I'm not nervous really, I just. You took me by surprise is all.' he confessed, giving a faint smile.
'I don't think I was day-dreaming. I was thinking, thoughts about my life. Or what it should be like.' he let out a heavy sigh. 'Is that day-dreaming then?'

Cassie only merely laughed when he said her name back. "Ah.. I didn't think there was another Cassandra out there..... I thought I was different." She said playfully. "It is nice to meet you, Mister Swafi." She did a graceful bow to him as a way of respecting him.
"Well.. if you lose yourself in your mind, thinking about things or visualizing things in your mind then it is daydreaming, sir." She said thoughtfully. "And I am quiet sorry about taking you by surprise. I was just resting after spending time with my dear brother." She gave him a small smile.

Swafi Jr's ears twitched at her laughter; he always had thought he would be bad at meeting mares, this had only confirmed it. He bowed his head in return, remembering his manners even through his embarrassment.
'Just Swafi Jr please,' he said. 'It sounds like you're talking to my father if you say 'Mr'.' he tilted his head to one side as she talked about day-dreaming. He supposed that was what he was doing after all then.
'It's okay,' he replied. 'You're close to your family then?'

Cassie's ears flickered back and forth to various sounds while she listened to him. "I am sorry, Swafi.. I am used to calling others Mr. and Mrs because my mother raised me to respect others as well as my elders." She said with an embrassed smile. She paws the ground slightly while looking at him softly, "I haven't really met anyone other than the ones in my herd so I am always out of respect towards them."
She perked up when she heard his question towards her, "Only my brother and my mother. I haven't seen my father in a long time.. very long time. I don't get to see my other siblings... My brother and I are very close since he is a brother that I have always wanted to have. You see.. my mother doesn't have a mate or even a close male friend. She wanted to give me a brother or sister as well as to feel needed in life. So.. Minty is the one I feel the closest to for several reasons.." She goes quiet with another embrassed smile. "Oh, dear.. I am rambling on, aren't I? I am quite sorry about that." She tossed her head to get her mane out of her eyes to see him better.

'I appreciate the sentiment Cassandra.' Swafi Jr smiled.
'Swafi? Where?' he managed to make a small joke! He was very surprised that he had done that, but he would probably become tongue tied around her again in a short space of time. 'Swafi is my father..hence me being 'Jr'. Which you can call me, if you'd like.'
Swafi Jr nodded; 'I know that feeling, I haven't seen my father either, I don't even remember seeing him since I became an adult. He and my mother. Well they split up.' he smiled shyly this time. 'I don't mind. I enjoy listening to you talk. I don't really no anyone around here.' he scuffed the floor, feeling foolish again. Sure, tell her you're a friendless loser, that'll make her like you!

Cassie only merely giggled as she listened to him. "Oh, I am not laughing at you. I am laughing with you. You are so sweet and funny." She tilted her head when she hears that he has no friends, "That is quite alright.. I don't have many friends.. only ones from my herd and their familys from other herds. But if you want, I can be your friend. " She said with a smile, giving him a friendly nuzzle on the cheek.
"Jr, eh? I like that. I think it sets you apart from others and that is a good thing." She said while nodding her head at her comment. Then she looked into his eyes with a gentle smile, "I hope I am not boring you, Jr. We can always go for a walk or something. I know some very interesting places... like one of my favorite places as a foal was the meadows where I could chase rabbits or butterflies." She giggled as she remembered a fond memory.

'I, umm..err..' Swafi Jr's new stammer returned again, bought on by the compliments and then the touch that Cassandra bestowed on his cheek. He'd never been touched like that by anyone other that his mother, and of course that was just motherly affection.
'Thanks..' he finally managed, giving a smile back, his ears pricked forwards towards the mare. He wanted to compliment her in return, but he also wanted it to sound genuine, and not just out of politness.
'You're not. You're not boring me at all Cassandra' he said hurriedly. 'And I would like that. The friend bit. And the walk.'

Cassie smiled at him and looks around to see where they at before spotting the path that she knew so well to the meadows. "Ah.. There is the path." She smiled and laughed at the stammer that he had just did. "... What happened? Did I do something wrong, Jr?" She said while tossing him a playful look, knowing that he need this and a friend.
She tossed her mane once again to get it out of her eyes, flickering her tail to get the nasty flies off of her back. She looked at him and motions for him to walk with her. "The path is big enough for both of us to walk side by side, Jr... But... can you tell me about your mother? I bet she is sweet like you."

'Oh no..' Swafi Jr said quickly. He wouldn't want her thinking that her being sweet and forward was wrong, he just wasn't entirely sure how to handle it. Everything was all so new. He felt a little like he was a colt just out of his basket, but he also kind of liked it.
'I don't..I've kind of been shut away, looking after my mother. Besides you, I've only met one other Soquili. And he was no where near as pretty.' he beamed. There! He'd complimented her, and it sounded, well he hoped, genuine and not rehearsed. He followed her, moving to her side, and talked about Dory.
'My mother is wonderful, but she suffers from a terrible short term memory problem. She forgets so many things, and she tries her hardest despite that. I know she loves me and my siblings, and she did love our father. But she's just alone now, and can't really remember why. When she does remember it gets her down...' his voice trailed off. He couldn't understand why he'd spoke of private family matters so frankly to a mare he'd just met, but it had felt like he'd unburdened himself a little.

Cassie blushed quite deeply when she heard his compliment towards her. "... You think I am pretty? With this combination of colors on me?" She trots up the path playfully while laughing, "Jr....." For the first time, she couldnt' find the words to say to him. All she could do was blushed once again as it could be seen on her muzzle... just barely.
She listened to him about his mother and frowns softly, folding her ears down in sadness. ".. She has short term memory? How it must hurt for you and her.. I can sense that you and her are so very close.. Just like me and my brother...But you know what? I am glad that you told me all this. You must feel better after doing so. Sometimes I am known for bringing the best out of soquilis.. My mother even told me so once." She gave him another friendly nuzzle. "Don't be afraid to tell me what is on your mind or heart, Jr. I will always try to help."

'Why wouldn't I? Besides, look at me..I'm certainly a splash of unco-ordinated colours. Yours at least look right.' Swafi Jr gave a smile. He was getting good at this complimenting thing! He thought that it was maybe not a good idea to go overboard with them though, that was probably where they became unbelievable.
'It is not too bad for her, she doesn't often remember that she has forgotten things, and if she does remember bad times it isn't for long. I am close to my mother yes..but sometimes.' he gnawed on his lip, not wanting to sound ungrateful, his mother had given birth to him after all!
'I wish that my mother wasn't as she is. I've had to look after her so much that I've lost alot of my life. When I was little, I wished that she would be able to look after me, instead of the other way around.' he gave a half-smile.
'Well..now I've brought us both down..we should talk about something else.' he suggested.
