It was such a nice day, the sun was shining brightly in the mid day sky, and the occasional cloud drifted into view. The cold air from Mt. Kapu, combined with the hot steam from Hokepi Spring made the temperature quite nice too, maybe just a little bit cold for a fire Palui, but, it wasn’t anything that one couldn’t bare.
Lexie was laying on her back, her eyes lightly closed as she dozed in the sun. She was situated atop a rock that was next to Hokepi Spring, so the rising steam soothed her aching paws from walking, and made her feel very drowsy. She had been walking for a number of days now, not really in search of anything, but she had come across the spring, so she had decided to stay for a while. It seemed like a good opportunity to watch any water Palui that may be about, as she didn’t know much about this species. In fact, the only types of Palui that she really knew anything of were the neutral, earth and fire Palui. The rest remained much of a mystery to her.
But, now that she was here, and now that she was so tired from walking, and the sound of the spring water was so soothing, Lexie just couldn’t help but doze.

Cirrus found himself walking as usual. He head was up looking at the few clouds in the sky, almost disappointed that the sun had seemed to make them vanish. He'd wandered his way to the Hokepi spring, the temperature a bit warm for him. However, he liked how everything looked from there, with the view of the mountain and such.
He paused for a moment at the spring looking at the water. It looked hot. Soothing maybe, but hot. Cirrus didn't like being hot. Of course he didn't much like being cold either, but that was besides the point. He sat down and took a look around. He'd come a long way from this morning and his legs hurt a little from all of his walking. He sat down, kicking a rock into the spring and listening to it's soft plunking noise.

A sudden noise made Lexie’s ears twitch, tuning into the sound of something falling into the water. It can’t have been too big, as the sound wasn’t amazingly loud; possibly a rock of some sort? But, as far she a knew, none of the rocks around the spring were loose enough to just fall of their own accord. Something must have done it.
Lexie slowly pealed her eyes open and rolled over to the edge of her perch. She didn’t really want to wake up from her doze, but she was curious as to what had made the noise, so that pushed her to investigate.
Upon looking over the edge of the rock and down to the spring bank, Lexie set eyes on another Palui! Come to think of it, she was wondering when she would see one, but she was expecting a water one, not a neutral one. But, this Palui could have come here with it’s human to be attuned? But it seemed to be alone. So, Lexie decided to watch for a bit and see what the Palui would do next.

Cirrus sighed out of boredom. He didn't like staying in one place. However, his legs and paws were too sore from walking for him to keep going right now. He kicked another rock in the water, delighting in the sound it made.
Cirrus turned his head to look up at the sky again, but stopped as he was turning. His eyes caught a flash of green. He stood and looked at what appeared to be the head of a fire Palui with green flames on it's ears. Cirrus' eyes widened a bit. The easily amused boy found green fire to be amazing.
"Hello!" he said in his typical chipper tone. He was social...Well he was whenever he ran into another Palui. He smiled, awaiting a response.

Ooc||: Sorry about not posting for a while. I had a writers block. I don't like posting posts that don't fill up the little box you type them out in, as I don't feel I've put enough effort in, so, sorry again ^^;
Damn, she'd been spotted! Lexie sighed, she'd hoped to watch the Palui a little longer in order to find out a little bit more about why it was here, but it looked like that wouldn't be happening. But still, she guessed the company, however short lived it might turn out to be, would do her some good. After all, it had been a while since she had properly interacted with others, and this little Palui seemed pretty cheerful. He'd probably help lighten her mood, and be easy to get on with.
Lexie grinned back, and stood up, shaking any dirty from her coat. "Hello" She replied happily, beginning to make her way down the rocks and back onto the ground.
It was quite warm, just like the rocks, probably due to the heat of the Spring, but it was soothing, even though standing again made her paws hurt a little, but she didn't mind too much.
She smiled at the little Palui, who she was guessing by it's looks, was male. He had lovely blue and white markings. She especially liked the contrast of white, blue and dark blue on his face. He was in fact quite a handsome Palui.

Cirrus smiled, glad to see his new acquaintance was cheerful. He had to think though, that seeing a blue fire palui was rather odd though. He'd always associated fire with the sun and reds or oranges and such.
"Hello!" he repeated, "My name's Cirrus. Like the clouds!" He smiled, mostly because he loved his name. He was going to ask what her name was, but his easily amused mind got the better of him. "Woah....Your eyes match your flames..."
He really didn't realize that he got so distracted. It was just how his mind raced around he guessed. It made it hard for him to focus sometimes, and it made him blurt things like that out.

Cirrus, clouds, how clever. Come to think of it, his pelt did somewhat resemble the sky, even if the blue was a bit dark. But, she could still see it, the fluffy white clouds on the blue background. How wonderful, such a good name for the Palui.
His little comment made Lexie laugh, and she sat down again, not wanting to stand for long due to the pain in her paws, plus she felt it was safe to sit around this little critter. "Well, if you look closely, my eyes are actually a darker green than my flames" She said smiling at him. She then glanced up at her right ear, tilting it forwards a bit so she could look at it's tip. The flames was dancing calmly, as always. "But I guess you can't really get a dark flame, can you? As a flame is a light source" She mumbled, half to herself.
She paused for a moment, then looked back at Cirrus, straightening her ear again and grinning. After his comment on her eyes, Lexie couldn't help but focus on his, and she leaned in a little bit, staring at them, a confused expression adorning her face. "Are your eyes grey? I can't quite work it out" She asked him.

Cirrus nodded at her reply. He figured though regardless of exact coloration, it was still cool. It made him wonder a bit what she'd look like if she wasn't attuned. This of course led him to wonder what color his flames would be if he was a fire Palui. Of course, all of this thinking made him a little dizzy. He shook his mind clear then continued conversation.
"Blue-grey," Cirrus replied, "They tend to change depending on the weather. More blue on Sunny days, more grey on cloudy days. But you can always see a little bit of both!" he smiled. He'd figured today they'd be a dark blue, but their current location added more grey to the mix making a sort of blend. He took every chance though to see his own eyes, anything reflective he'd always look to see how they looked for the day. It didn't make him vain, it just was interesting was all.

Lexie raised her eyebrows in an interested manner. Eyes that change colour according to the weather? She's never heard, or come across anything like it before. How intriguing. "Really? That's amazing! Do you know why they do that?" She asked, wanting to find out more. She wondered if there was any connection between that fact that his name meant something to do with the clouds, and his beautiful colouring that looked like white fluffy clouds against a blue sky, and the fact that his eye colour changed from more blue to more grey depending how cloudy it was. It was all very interesting really.
Lexie peered closer at Cirrus's eyes to see that today, they were a dark blue. Maybe, a bad omen that, the weather was going to be nice now, but get cloudy later? Then a question came to mind. "Cirrus, can you tell when a storm is coming?" She asked.

Cirrus shook his head, "I really don't know. But I've heard of Hazel eyes changing for the same reason." He shrugged. He never tried to figure out why his eyes changed. He'd always focused more on why his fur didn't. Obsessed with the sky, he'd watch the clouds move, wondering why his did not.
Then Lexie asked her next question. He smiled at this. "Of course!" he replied, "But sensing a storm is something anyone can do." He paused, closed his eyes and turned his face towards the sky, giving a gentle sniff. He then nodded. "We should be fine today. But if you're wondering how I know it's simple. You just have to know what the air smells like before rain."

Lexie hit herself on the head. Of course! She should be able to tell when the weather was going to get bad too! But to be honest, she had never really noticed when it was going to start raining until it actually did. So much for her being alert and clever. But, now that Cirrus mentioned it, there usually was this horrible smell about just before, during and after it had rained. She had never liked that smell, like she had never really liked the rain, purely because it put her health at risk. She was sure that if she wasn't a Fire Palui, she would love the rain. But she didn't. "Your very right! Do you like the smell of rain?" She asked. She quite liked asking questions, especially as Cirrus seemed to be able to widen her knowledge greatly.
Lexie glanced at the bubbling spring next to them, and began to wonder again, what Cirrus was doing here. She decided to wait a bit before she would ask him.

Cirrus smiled. He loved the smell of fresh fallen rain. It was so clean and nice. The smell of moisture on the green grass...He didn't like the rain itself. It made the clouds dark and hid the blue sky he was so fond of, but he liked the smell. "Yup!" he answered, "I love the small of rain. It's sweet and fresh...Though after it rains all you can smell is worms..." he wrinkled his nose. Worms smelled awful. Much like fish really. Just the thought of it made him want to gag. He shook his head to knock the thought out. "What about you? Do you like the smell of rain?"

Ooc||: I can't really describe it well, because Lexie wouldn't know what it is, but to me, rain smells acidic, and that's what it smells like to her. But of course I wouldn't think Lexie would know what acid is xD
Lexie shook her head, then laughed. "No, I don't really. The smell is really...I don't even know to be honest. It seems foreign. Like, a smell that I wouldn't imagine to be rain" She looked into his eyes, almost wistful, "Though I wish it smelt like how you describe it. Fresh, sweet."
Lexie sighed deeply, and turned to look at the Spring next to them once again, then slowly wandered over to it's edge, and lay down. "But, it could have something to do with the fact that I am a Fire Palui. I'm not supposed to like water, it's dangerous to me. So maybe, it's smelt is influence by that" She said, dipping her paw into the hot Spring and swirling it around, watching the ripples. She was in a kind of trance, really caught up in this whole smell thing, which was a bit silly of her. She probably looked really weird to Cirrus.

Cirrus watched her intently, thinking as she spoke of what she was saying. "Well that makes sense...Water and Fire are opposites...Like air and earth!" he smiled, the air and Earth being interesting topics for him. "But I guess lots of things are different when you're attuned...You see the world from a different set of eyes...or sumthin like that..." he shrugged. His view of the world was broad but shallow. He knew a little about everything, but not a lot about anything. He'd met lots of Palui. Fire, Water, and Earth mostly. Each having different perspectives of the world. Deep down he wanted his own perspective...A view that he could relate to and gain experience with... He wanted to soar with the clouds. To keep his broad views of the world and be in tune with more than just the nature on the ground. To be free in the skies...He couldn't imagine anything better. "Do you like being attuned to fire?" he asked then, his gaze turning skyward, staring into space, "To see the world behind the flame?"

Lexie glanced up at Cirrus, catching the wistful look in his eyes as he gazed up at the sky. The atmosphere radiating from him made up for his...somewhat unexpected little half statement half question. To see the world behind the flame...Lexie had never really thought about it like that, but it began to open her eyes to a whole knew load of questions, and theories about so many different things. She actually liked it, being made to think, and realising knew things.
Lexie let out a small sigh, and also turned her eyes skyward, away from her paw that was still half submerged in the Spring. "Well, to be honest Cirrus, I can't really remember much else. I've been attuned to fire for a long time. Being a neutral Palui is but a distant memory. I can't remember what the world was like for me then, or even what I was like. I only partly remember becoming attuned, and that's it." She said in a brighter tone that maybe didn't really fit the partly saddening aspect of the lack of Lexie's memories, but through this it became obvious that it didn't really get to her much. "But, that's not to say I don't enjoy being a Fire Palui," she continued, "I can do certain things that other Palui could only dream off, such as so much as survive atop Mt. Manu. You would find that very hard, Cirrus" She said, glancing at the male, a distant trace of pain in her eyes showing that it would be much harder than she let on. "But, it's the same as becoming a water Palui, and being able to dive deep beneath the surface of the water, or an air Palui, and being able to fly high in the sky" She added.
"Do you want to become attuned Cirrus?" Lexie asked him, looking at him, holding her gaze on his face.
