[AIM RP between my lioness, Chizoba and honey.roasted.ferrets's lioness Abeni.]
Chizoba stopped walking and looked to the sky. It was grey. An even grey shade covered the blue that often matched some of her own pelt. She could not even make out the location of the sun, the loyal runner of the sky.
TUrning her head from the dreary weather, she look back at her destination: the watering hole. She pressed still small paws into the dirt beneath them, feeling little give because it had been so dry lately. Chizoba wondered if her companion, Celestyn, had awoken while she was gone. She hoped his silly mind would not let him wander far from where they had stayed that night.
Her thoughts flooded her mind as she walked toward the watering hole. She wondered what other creatures may be gathering there today. Giraffes? Hyenas? Hopefully nothing too aggressive, as she was still small in comparison to most animals around those parts.

Abeni scowled softly, gold eyes narrowed at her reflection. The water hole was a bit murkier than usual, which it being so dry. She hated when the water didn't taste as crisp and pure. With a sigh she settled down next to it anyway, her head held low enough to flick her tongue over the surface. Her reflection rippled as she sipped.
The dreary weather didn't bother her much. In fact, the grey sky might bring more rain, and she would be happy for that. She liked the sun, the heat, but water was needed for her to survive. With her thirst quenched, she rolled over onto her side and glance around at the shore of the water hole, eyeing the various animals that gathered. Nothing she could hunt, at least not on her own. So for now she was content to lay around and wait for something to happen.

There was not too much happening at the watering hole today, Chizoba noticed early. Smaller prey, rabbits and the like, seemed to be nowhere in sight. Some zebras and antelope mingled on the other edge of the water, away from herself and a few other hunters. By the water's edge lounged a dark colored mass, about her size, slightly larger maybe, but the creature seemed to be a lion.
Chizoba padded silently over to the dark mass and sat by it, tilting her head down the the water to drink from it. The murky water tasted about as good as it looked and she gave a little cough as she swallowed down the contaminated liquid.
As she stepped back from the water her stomach rumbled softly. It had been a while since she had eaten a real meal. She eyes across the hole, toward a small antelope greedily, tongue licking at her maw. She knew she wouldn't be able to hunt it on her won, however, especially with all the other creatures about.

The lioness' eyes had closed lazily, her head laying on the hot soil as she lounged on her side. Then her ears twitched when the other girl approached, hearing her footsteps on the cracking ground. "Eeh..." She grunted, one eye opening to peer up at her. An awkward silence passed for a few moments. Or at least it was awkward for Abeni. Why had the strange girl sat beside her, without even introducing herself? She cleared her throat and sat up at bit, looking her over before looking across the water at the prey she was eyeing.
"...Mm. Well that does look tasty." Her voice was soft but rough, as if it was hardly used. "Good luck getting it on your own...." Smirks, her tail flicking across the ground.

Zoa looked over at the lioness. he was a bit older than she was, now that she had the chance to hear her and see her face. And, well, the other lioness was right.
"well, I think I could do it if I really had to. If I was really hungry." Zoa retorted with some sting in her tone. Her stomach gave another miniature rumble as she watched the foal bobble about on unsteady legs too long for it's size. She darted honey colored eyes back to the other lion. "I'm Chizoba. And you are.. ?"

"Ha." She chuckles, sarcasim dripping from her voice. "I'd like to see that..." She grins and shifts a bit, legs sprawled out at her side. Half lidded gold eyes look over the bright colors of the other girl's pelt. She wondered for a moment if it was harder to hunt with brighter fur. Either way, she was obviously not very confident in Chizoba's hunting abilities. "I'm Abeni."

She let out a snort at the lioness. She may be small, but she felt tough. Sure, she had never taken on anything larger than a young waterbuck, but she had sass and abilities. She just needed the cahnge to prove it.
"Well, Abeni. Any chance you'd want to help me get something to eat then?" Her voice was high and childish, like she was offering the older female some kind of game to play. "Since, you know, I'm obviously not strong enough to do it myself," bitterness flooded her voice. Chib didn't like that she seemed weak and unable to hunt, and took it to heart that a feel lioness saw her in this way.

Abeni glanced back over at the antelope. He was small, but would have enough meat to fill them both up for a day or two. Was it worth the effort? Eh, why not. She could use the opportunity to show off as well. With a yawn she stood, stretching as she moved. "Well... I suppose I could honor you with my assistance... Got a plan?"

She glanced around for a few moments. There was little brush cover, so that wasn't much of an option. Some reeds popped up by the watering hole, but even thoes were scarce and sparse.
She looked back at the tasty treat, it wiggled and wobbled as it moved. "Perhaps a chase. Not too far as it's still unsteady. And the others will be sure to leave it behind. There aren't enough of them to herd it to the center. We could each take a side, and move in at the same moment." She turned honey eyes bak to Abeni. "How does that sound to you, Abeni? Sound like it could work? Or do you have something better hidden in your fur?"

"Hmm..." She ponders over the plan for a moment. It was simple enough. Her eyes scanned over the bush and reeds much like Chizoba had, calculating things in her mind. "I suppose that will do..." Grunts softly, her claws stretching out to rake into the dry earth. "Let's go, I'll take the left side..." And with that she glides off, heading around the edge of the water hole slowly.

The larger female stalked her way around the water, using the small bits of brush there was available to hide herself. She nestled down for a moment, letting the other girl get into place. Eye contact and a slight smirk, just a subtile hint that it was time. Slender muscles coiled and sprung forward, heading for the tiny antelope.
This was too easy! They'd catch the baby for sure, and the mother couldn't do anything about it... The herd shifted and started to run, leaving the faun to scamper behind... Claws extended and swipped, knicking the back legs.
