Haunting guide
this guide will provide enough info about hauntings to make sure you all get the best ending, Escape... *cough* gimme donations if you find this helpful i need 7k *cough* the hauntings numbers range from 1-5, 5 being the worst and most severe
The View of the Future Occurance: 2 Risk: 3 (5 if needed to go to "outside room 302" a lot) Description: This happens when you look through the peep hole in the door when it is bloody, you see the Ghost of Henry Townshend, this is where victim 21/21 A Candle is needed to be put infront of the door Little Walter Occurance: 1 risk: 5 Description: a deadly haunting if low on health. you will see the ghost of little Walter in your closet, since you are getting hit by the haunting right on the dot move away fast. Then if you have one, use a candle by the phone to get rid of it. Strangely, the haunting makes the moans of several children...
The Faucet Occurance: 3 Risk: 2 (5 if it happens when you need to wash the "filthy coin") Description: nothing too strange here, but if you look in the kitchen, then you will find out the faucet is running, not only that, blood replaced the water! you need this to wash the filthy coin, if you have a holy candle, place it down on the ground by the sink, if you don't, use a medallion, if you don't have neither, get ready because your going to have some pain to deal.
The Chair Occurance: 4 Risk: 4 Description: this haunting is the most unrecognizable and hardest to find. in the living room beside the window and red book, you see a lonely chair, but if you go close to it, there is a haunting, the chair will be stained with blood, use a candle infront of it to kill it. LOOK THERE ALL THE TIME! in some cases it comes up twice in a game and it will effect your ending
Tick-Tock Tick-Tock Occurance: 3 risk: 1 Description: as the name suggest you will that noise when you come in the living room, when this happens, check your clock its working again but, a little too fast. a holy candle is needed on the chair infront of it.
The Television: Occurance: 5 risk: 4 Description: during the building world, your t.v will go on but it wont hurt you, this is why the occurance is 5, because it is in every game. though if it happens again in the same game, beware its a haunting. a candle infront of it will make it go away. If you watch it long enough the second time, you will see that there is an upside-down image of Richard Braintree, his ghost could be haunting it
A Red Kitten Occurance: 2 Risk: 4 Description: if you have said "hey did you hear that" while you were in your living room and realized its a meow, then you got the kitten haunting. its hard to search for but when you look in the fridge, guess what? a skinned cat with its legs, tail, and head chopped off is waiting for you! use a candle infront of the fridge to kill the thing.
Bloody Shoes... Occurance: 5 Risk: 1 Description: like Henry said, he didnt remember buying the shoes, so they are probably not his. this haunting is a little noticeable from the displacement of the shoes, all you need is a candle on the kitchen floor to make them go back to where they were before.
The Ghost Occurance: 4=Hard Risk: beyond 5 Description: THIS is a real haunting. a ghost will climb out halfway out of your wall. where does this occur? EVERY ROOM! this haunting has an eerie sound along with it doing good damage. the candle locations to kill one are as followed: Bedroom: floor where you found the Doll key by your bed Living Room: the floor by the piece of furniture which you moved (Not recommended to kill a ghost in these areas) Bathroom: in the middle Laundry Room: by the washing machine
The Portrait: Occurance: 2 if Doll is collected, 0 if isn't Risk: 5 Description: The portrait of the Silent Hill church changed into a portrait of Walter Sullivan. Strangely its moving, placing a candle by the dresser would eliminate it.
The Phone: Occurance: 2 if Doll is collected, 0 if isn't Risk: 5 Description: this is the other deadly haunting, right when you wake up this will do damage on your poor old soul. placing a candle infront of it will kill it as well. the only problem is is that theres no answering machine... and you hear Walter repeat the phrase "I'm always watching you"
The Dolls Occurance: 5 if Doll is kept in the storage box for a long time Risk: 5 Description: One of the most feared hauntings, this haunting is a haunting Walter wanted you to get in the first place as there are no uses for it, its logical to keep it in there. when this happens, a lot of dolls of children are on the wall by the Storage Box, this makes the haunting critical to dismiss. A holy candle is needed on the ground by the storage box in order to destroy this awful haunting, but beware, it will most likely come back if you dont take the doll
Eileen only hauntings
this is for Eileen's possessions, as they are too, relative to hauntings there is still a risk and occurance level, but it is planned out slightly differently.
Reading childly Occurance: full damage risk: no Description: early in the game if you some how managed to basically kill Eileen then good job, in the forest world she can easily read every note placed on stones and trees, this will not go in your scrapbook, so remember the Diary of Walter
Name Calling occurance: half-full damage risk: no Description: she will sometimes just stop for a second and follow you again, but she will rather say the names "Joseph" or "Henry Townshend" in a slow but eerie way.
A passage from the "bible" Occurance: half-full damage risk: no Description: Eileen mutters some words, somthing like "and then he returned to the wellspring of Sin" (I know this is not word for word but you get the idea). this is a possible passage from the Order's bible. Possible possessors are: Walter(Adult), Past Victims who are related to the cult, Dahlia Gillespie (the timeline is still a mystery for Silent Hill 4:The Room so we don't know if Dahlia is dead).
Finding "mommy" Occurance: Full damage risk: no Description: Eileen sometimes will get possessed by Walter(little). She will ask where her "mommy" is. but she will say other things like "Im Scared" in certain cutscenes, she acts like this...
Self Punishment Occurance: Full Damage Risk: yes Description: This is the bad side of Eileen, and I don't think you'd like it. She now has her own aura but she will hit herself madly on the broken arm.
World Hatred Occurance: Full Damage Risk: yes Description: Eileen is now seen flailing her weapon around in the air, this could mean that she is protesting on the world of light for the Otherworld. And yes she has an aura
Devil's Language Occurance: Full Damage Risk: yes Description: The worst of the Eileen-Only Hauntings. she will jerk her head up repeatedly, and saying "@^%$<...)@#$!^*..." and ect. when hearing this you know that it is a demon trying to speak that wasn't from this world...
The Head Of Eileen Occurance: Hospital World Risk: No Description: this is not so much as to deal with hauntings, but i figure it still counts as a one. as you walk in you won't see the head yet, but you will hear moaning and heavy breathing from a female (most likely Eileen) like it is her going through intercourse. when walking up though to see this, you would only see a giant head of hers staring at you no matter what... the Head possibly symbolizes from Walter knowing about the little peephole in the room 302. He wants Henry to look at what she looks like now which is why there are many wounds on the face, and to make him not find attrtactive. this is like Pyramid head with James, Henry's sexual desires.

Thank you for posting a Hauntings Guide. The only hauntings ive never expereinced out of your list is the cat, the ghost of Henry *really want to see that one though....*, and the phone, and the painting.
You mention that you think Richard's ghost might be possessing that tv..... another possibility I would like to point out, when Andrew DeSalvo dies, blood sprays everywhere in your bathtub. Would it not also be a strong possibility that the blood running in the kitchen sink is a relation to a haunting from Andrew, similiar to richard possibily haunting the tv?
Another thing to point out is, with the haunting of the dead cat........ it could be a possible reference ot when Walter Sullivan brutally killed all the animals in the pet store after shooting the owner with a submachine gun.

I love the predictions you made there, but I find that the cat haunting is more of the people who live in the apartments, one of them is allergic to cats and killed one, this is the guy with a ton of fake models of guns, theres a lady who lives with a bunch of cats in a different room, in that room it has a dead cat in some pants in a fridge, like the haunting in your room except there is no pants to begin with.
though I would agree with you for the Andrew DeSalvo part and add it too the guide :3

I remember the room with a dead cat in the pants, but I didn't recall her living with a bunch... once again i need to go through and watch carefully. The reason I mentioned Walter's animal scenario was because all the hauntings seem related Walter personally, whether it be through his victims or another reason, so i never would of made a connection to indirect people living in the apartments. But thanks for the info! I need to go through and read all the writings in forest world, i havent done it yet..... ive read a few but only the ones on my way somewhere, ive never hunted them down..... when i get there later in the game, ill write them all down and post them on here mrgreen

The monsters are more about Walter's personality. He has a fear of dogs and bats, creating the Sniffer dogs and buzzers (I think thats what there called cant remember). He felt guilty about killing Mariam and Billy Locane because they were children, so they became the Twin Heads. The Leaches were formed from Walter in his childhood, drinking leaches because Andrew ordered him to do so. The Patience are female, and their uterus is cut open, along with them having contorted faces making them unrecognizable, possible symbolizing his mother... Not too sure about the Gumheads, Wall Men, and toadstools -_-

There's a trick to finding out if you have a haunting or not... Turn on the radio in your living room. If it's making noise, there's a haunting, but if it's silent then you're safe

there's no radio in Silent Hill 4. you know there's a ghost if your "ghost sense" starts acting up

youngwerewolf6 there's no radio in Silent Hill 4. you know there's a ghost if your "ghost sense" starts acting up There is... looking at the windows in the living room, there's a bookshelf to the right, and the radio's on the bookshelf. You an sometimes hear news bulletins on it about the deaths of '21 sacrement' victims (starting with Cynthia) as well! Though I guess haunting-wise if there is one you'll probably end up discovering it yourself anyway smile

the only significance of that radio is that you can play a tape you find in the apartment world and that it gives a news bulletin on the deaths. That's it! It has nothing to do with the hauntings.

HeroofAvarisix the only significance of that radio is that you can play a tape you find in the apartment world and that it gives a news bulletin on the deaths. That's it! It has nothing to do with the hauntings. No, it has everything to do with the hauntings. During the 2nd part of the game where your apartment stops healing you, turn your radio on. You will hear loud static everytime there is a haunting. If you don't believe me (and you should knowing im a derranged SH4 fanatic), turn the radio on. When there is no static, go all over the apartment and if there are no hauntings then simply wait until you hear static. When you hear static, look around the apartment and I can GUARENTEE you will see a haunting. Also, what he said before is true about radio broadcasts if you turn it on right after a victim is killed. Also if you turn it on right when the game first loads, it will say something about taking a nice trip to Silent Hill for a vacation. It will also say something about the birthday of a Walrus.

If the haunting with the ghost is the one I think it is, the ghost doesnt really chase you. Theres one where a ghost crawls half way through the wall, and that is it. I do love the joke one animation made about that! "Look, if your going to stay there, you're gonna have to at least pay rent!" Maybe Ill post that animation soon.
Also, we are such nice people. "I wanna see Eileen hit herself" twisted
