A large lump of fur was curled up in a ball right near a pile of large boulders. He had become quite acquainted to the feeling of the area, after the dark herbivore showed him around a few times. To the left about 50 paces was a small watering hole that contained fish not worthy enough to even think about being considered a meal. Near the water, a lone tree perfect for scratching, stood.
Kipofu'Bakhti yawned as the sun peeked into his lifeless blue opaque eyes. His ears perked forward, hearing the small breathing pattern of his friend next to him. "Lonny." He nudged the body slightly. "Come on, wake up." At this, the adult klipspringer yawned, nipped at the lion, and rested her head against the mass. Kipo couldn't help but grin.

Ngala'leli was thirsty. There was no mistaking that dry, cottonball feeling in her mouth that made her tongue buzz like felt every time it touched her gums. It was even working it's way into her throat, making swallowing very uncomfortable. She knew dehydration could be crippling. It was time to find a good water source.
Lifting her nose to the air she paused to take in a breath. She thought she sensed taces of the liquid not far off. Good. She headed off at a steady lope, trying to take long, fluid strides to conserve her energy. Best not to make a mad dash out it all and make things worse.
Eventually she came to a small pool. Normally she checked the area carefully before risking a drink, but she was so partched that she simply dropped her head down and took in a few deep laps, ignoring the swirling fish. She had to remind herself mentally not to drink too fast.

The blueish green deer was about to doze off again in the warm sun, when the sound of the other had alerted her. Her eyes popped open as fast as they could as she scanned around. There was the bearer of the noise, a black shadow lapping liquid from the murky waterhole. It wasn't a lion, or anything that looked like a lion, so what could this new species be to her? Obviously it wasn't the 'grasshopper' her and Kipo had met a while ago.
At Lonny's sudden jerk, Kipo perked his ears forward. Small shuffles, not heavy as if from the paws of a large mammal, but more of a light and flowy movement. Perhaps a cub, or something of that caliber. He gave the klipspringer a lick, reassuring her that it was okay, before moving to get up. Swiveling his ears in the direction of the noise, he moved in, the herbivore at his heels.
"Hello?" the male asked, looking towards the dog, but not directly at her. "My name is Kipofu'Bakhti, may I ask yours?" He always liked to know who he was addressing.

Leli jerked sideways at the sound of his voice, stumbling a few feet into the water. Her body stiffened, her posture wheeling about to drop her shoulders and face him head on. Her fur rose a little, defensively, but no growl came from her throat. It wasn't smart to be agressive unless necessary. She blinked a few times, staring at him and his companion to get a feeling of what she was deeling with. Due to her eye's dark hue, however, it was hard to see exactly where she was looking.
"You may ask," she replied slowly, letting her hackles slowly drop like a folding fan. Her head, however, reamined warily low, "And I suppose I'll tell you. I am Ngala'leli."

"Ngala'leli" he repeated, acquainted the name with the voice. "Pleasure to meet you, but you do not have to be defensive around me, I will harm you." He said softly, moving closer to the female dog. His ears flickered, keeping alert for any movement other than the pacing female klip behind him. Sitting down, he curled his tail around his ivory pelt, noting the sounds of fish splashing softly near the surface.
"Don't mind her, she is always anxious when it comes to meeting someone new." He grinned slightly. "What are you?" Kipo asked after a moment, his sightless eyes gazing at Leli. "You're scent is not familiar, like what I am, and since Lonny is antsy, you must not be a grass eater." Using logic, Kip tried to filter out the possible answers of the newcomer.

Will harm her? Leli sighed inwardly. He must have meant "will not". But if he was daft enough to make such a slip-up she supposed he couldn't be too dangerous. Adult lions are always dangerous, of course, but many were less so than others. But that went for any species, didn't it?
"You seem very wet behind the ears for a grown lion," she commented bluntly. She paused a moment, watching him carefully. There was something off about this lion, in the way he held himself. It would take a bit more observation for her to pinpoint it, but she'd figure it out eventually...
"I'm a wilddog," she answered.

Kipo had not even realized his slip in words. He just continued to smile warmly towards the female, nodding every now and then as if to say he was listening. But this is what the lion always did. He always listened.
However, the male tilted his head at the next comment. Wet behind the ears? Was that some sort of new saying creatures were saying now a days? It was like he had been living under a rock for the past few months if that were the case. None the less, he shook his head, reaching a paw behind his ear as to check for any water there. Nope, he was perfectly dry. Hmm..
"A wild dog?" he repeated after her again. "So I was right, partially anyways." He smiled genuinely, still not looking straight into the other's eyes.
The ex-pridelander was a friendly lion to all creatures. No matter the size, appearance, age or attitude, he was never one to judge.

"Yes," she agreed slowly, continuing to watch him. Most would have been unsettled by the staring; after all, as far as body-language was concerned, it was a challenge. So far it didn't seem to affect him. That was interesting.
"But then, it would be easy to infer. I do have large jaws...and forward facing eyes, both marks of a predator," she continued logically. Even if she had not know what lions looked like, she would have been able to make the assumption that they were meat-eaters. She expected no less from her own appearance.

As she described herself, Kipo listened intently. "Large jaws, but not as wide as the lion species, correct?" Lions' voices had a slightly different pitch from their larger maw. The white rogue was learning about this new species. "Is your eyesight and sense of smell keen?" He questioned. "You did not seem to notice me when came to the water." Then again, who was he to talk? He probably would not have even noticed the female dog if it wasn't for the reaction of the dark Klip.

Leli slowly but surely came to the conclusion that this lion was sightless. It was something she hadn't encountered before, which is why she hadn't recognized it from the beginning, but after careful accessment it was the only answer she could find. It had to be why he asked her to describe herself, when the traits were clear as day. It also explained why staring didn't bother him and why he didn't meet her gaze. Interesting.
"My jaws are long as opposed to wide," she explained, "and yes, both are very keen. I was simply...not paying attention." It wasn't something she liked to admit, but she was a practical sort; there was no use making excuses. It'd make no difference, really.

He grinned. Not paying attention, sure that's what they all said, but somehow this one was telling the truth. Her heart beat he could feel slightly on the ground, and it neither sped up or decreased in beat. He nodded after a moment, listening to her explanation of oneself. He could picture it somewhat in his mind, but without an actual sight, he wasn't sure if what he saw was what she looked like. "I see," well, that was an understatement, but hopefully the wild dog would get the picture.
"Are you a roamer?" Kip asked after a moment. He had only met those of prides. Never a rogue. "Is it hard to live off the land?" This question was asked just as an assumption to his previous question. Kipo wanted to get out of the pridelands and explore others, but with his disability, he never knew if he would live til the next day.

Leli was not big on lying. Most of the time it was just more trouble than it was worth. If you had a situation where it made a difference, sure, but she never saw many of those. She knew most people lied to be nice or to defend themselves...she just didn't believe in doing that.
"I suppose you could call me that," she agreed readily with a shrug. She certainly didn't call herself a roamer, but then, she didn't really call herself anything. "You live off the land in your pride, why would it be any different out here?" she questioned in return to his.

"But that is different you see," He paused for a moment, making sure he worded this right. Even if he didn't, the female was smart, he was sure she would pick it up somehow. "In the pride, we have others to help us when we need help." And in the pridelands, lioness would always hunt for him, which, to an extent, he was okay with. But they would always treat him differently because of his 'disability'. "or when we don't need help." He muttered at the end.
"But out here, you are on your own, entirely."

"In other words," she replied, unable to keep the disapproval from her voice, "You don't have to be responsible for yourself." It wasn't like it was a new idea. She had heard of it before. She believed in either taking care of oneself or equally taking care of each other. No matter how nice he was, she somehow didn't seem him fitting in to either picture.
"It simply means I have to be confident in my own skills," she answered with a slight shrug.

"Basically" Kipo nodded.
The old pridelander nodded. Unfortuantly, he wasn't too confindent in his own skills. He wasn't a hunter, his klipspringer just pointed out if a carcass was nearby that he could scavenge off of. He had never actually killed his own meal, why he was on his own away from his pride was even a question for him. He guessed he just wanted to know if he could actually do it.
As he was listening to the wolf, the klipspringer began to nibble on his paw. He looked down (out of habit perhaps?) "Hungry?" He laughed at his guide, turning towards Leli. "I'm sorry, she wants to go eat." He would let her go on her own, but she would rather be near the male instead of away."It was nice meeting you." He said softly, excusing herself from the female.
