The late afternoon found Belial sitting in one of his favorite spots, a spring that was otherwise no place of note to anyone else. For the demon-tailed ulaya however, this place was very important, it was the place he had first met Rennoa Manami. The kit had endeared herself to him in such a way that Bel had vowed to always watch out for her. Isoke, his sister, still teased him sometimes, but after meeting Ren and her family herself she understood. The pair had stuck close to the same territory for some time now, Bel wanting to be close enough to Ren's home to keep an eye on her, but not wanting to interfere too much with family life.
It had been a while now since he had last seen the three-tailed princess and as sat at the water's edge gazing into the depths he wondered how she was doing and when next they'd meet.

Rennoa Manami.
Daughter of ... Kirara.. and Tsukurou.
She starred blankly at the cave where the most feared memory she had of her childhood. Her brother. It hurt her heart to be in this place but she buried it in her chest.. As usual. She had grown truth in body and heart. Grown to be quiet, a grace that she had of her own. Not her mother's. All three of her tails twirled about- with more control... Swaying as she starred in to the cave. Her heart sank... Sadness.. She often came here to remind herself of the day, then finally she turned around and walked off in to the forest. Jumping occasionally over a rock or two. Maybe a puddle..
She was finding her way. The only thing keeping her in her childhood memories.. was the face of her brother. She was alone for the moment. Jeiyana had disappeared.. and her brother was off hunting with father. Her other siblings often went to visit the other litter her mother had.. All of life seemed unified... As planned.
It was like she felt out of place. Something was wrong.. her heart- she couldn't feel it anymore..-thump- ...
She hadn't seen Belial again for a while.. As she walked she remembered the memories. Inside her heart, she had him locked away. The thoughts of him were in the back of her mind. Her tails switched as she let them loose in her head. "Heh. Childhood memories.. I wonder how long til I fall." The memories led her back til the first time she saw him- and to that water banks.. The rocks bashing with water.. She found herself attentive to it and calmed til she was looking over the water. At herself. What was she? Unknowing of her surroundings .. if danger arrived she would stay there in the moment til she snapped. But for now she was in her own world.
Complete with the flashes of what all happened. She could even hear his voice and her soft one when she was little. Interacting as if she were there to just watch over it.
"You have to be careful who you share with,"
"...Ren.. Doesn't mind... Giving Belial lurffins.. I has a lots anyway! See!"
"Heh.. so true.. I feel as if I should had taken his words more seriously...but as so blind I was.. love was giving in quantities.. I just didn't know.. Just didn't- "
"I promise I'll always watch out for you,"
"Heh.. Well If you watch over me then that means Ren can watch over you too! " "How naive.. and childish thing to say... " Shaking her head with disapprovement. the feelings she had.. back then and even now that didn't show.. She resided at the shore.

Belial was awakened from his memories by the sound of another by the water. He must of dozed off into his memories to not have heard them approach. Looking up he caught sight of the lovely female ulaya. She was beautiful, thoughtful, sad. There was something very familiar about her but at first he could not place it. It took the motion of her tails to drive it home to him... as if his thoughts had brought her, there she sat. The precious little princess definately not so little anymore. His heart raced, she was so lovely, but why was she sad? Why was she alone? He spoke her name softly, in a breathy tone that was unintentionally seductive, "Rennoa...."

Rennoa hadn't thought so much about it.. It made her feel lonely. Even amongst others. "Heh im hearing things aren't I?" She said in a low tone, just as soft but sad. "I can even hear him.." She was about to walk away, as she turned around with her body she went face to face with him. [ assuming he was behind her and came up to hear? I dunno where he is atm ] Her eyes went wide and her heart felt like it just fell in to her stomach.
"Belial" A blush swarmed over her cheeks... "ahh.." Her voice sunk..Flails tails behind her and walks away slowly..but stops when one foot touches water. "Wha-what are you doing here? I didn't disturb you did I?!" Says concerned and nervous like. Bows politely and fully.. Staying down close to the ground because her nerves are out of wack;;; ~ surprised mostly but disturbing him would be the last thing she would want. "Im sorry...I-I'll go ;;;;" She said with a shiver down to her paws..

He stepped back a few paces his heart racing at the sound of his name. It took him a moment to speak seeing her so nervous completely unnerved him. Though a part of him wanted to react to her as the beautiful adult she now was, he found himself returning to the reasuring guardian he had always attempted to be. It made his head spin even outwardly calm as he was all but his tail which twitched back and forth restlessly. "Its alright Ren, its me. I'm sorry I startled you." He sat down a reasuring purrr emerging from him in an attempt to calm the both of them. "I like to come here sometimes, the sound of the water is so relaxing. You didn't disturb me, in fact I was just thinking about you." He nuzzled her and smiled. "I've missed you. Its been so long and now here you are all grown up."

Shaking her head lightly she sighed. She turned to look at the water with just a glance. "Its funny how we just miss each other then. I've come here too..Just scarcely.." Her tails waved in the air- then swayed. It was.. unnerving. Having him right in front of her.. she didn't know what to do! "Thinking of me?" As he gave her the nuzzle her cheeks brightened and one eye closed as the other watched him. Seconds after she stood up and gracely slipped next to him.. Still in the shore but just mere steps away from him.
'Missed me?' She repeated in her head and held her breath.. Trying to think of what to say to him. The times she did see him.. It was like she could run to him and just want to be near him, now.. Being older so many things aren't what they seem.. As she thought. Promises were held little to her- and meant almost nothing. Her head shook to each side softly.. Observing his tail, and how she could remember what moves indicated his feeling. Was she upsetting him?
"You have been missed as well." She smiled softly- her voice soft and motherly.. Its how she was~ though more devoted. "She looked herself over and flicked her tails. "Heh. I haven't noticed.." She laughed softly, which was rare now-a-days. Always thinking- and with an empty smile. "Though.. I wonder." She leaned to him and returned the nuzzle briefly- lightly.
"I would expect you to have disappeared by now. Forgotten." She looked to him as she put herself back in her place. "Or off to settle a family. Seeing you alone makes me worried." She blinked softly. Her ears laying flat against her head as she purred some at him- he calmed her with his, so she returned the favor. Looking up at him and in to those eyes she had remembered; found herself staring.

With her so close Bel found it hard to take in the subtle changes but he sensed them there. "Of course thinking of you. You're very important to me," he replied.
This encounter was unique in his experience. Other then Isoke he rarely interacted with other adult ulaya. He'd often found himself attempting to charm but always his pride had been damaged by those who had been frightened by the traits that made him unique. Ren had found her way into his heart as an endearing accepting child and somehow the web was now turned on him.
His breath caught as she said she'd missed him. He was nervous and at a loss not knowing how to respond to this very new situation.
"I could never forget you precious one," he replied his tail finally settling around his paws while he sat. He wondered if she'd notice the slight alteration of the endearment. At the mention of a family he looked away thoughtfully for a moment. When he turned back she was looking up at him. He smiled a little sadly. "No, no family for me yet. I scare all the nice girls away." He purred in response to her own purr and looked right back at her. "You're so beautiful Rennoa." The words escaped him without a thought and he didn't realize he had spoken them aloud.

Finding herself in a stand still.
His words weighed on her. "Important to you?" She edged closer to him and put her face about a centimeter away from his. "Being forgotten is our fate. I wouldn't mind if you did." She tilted her head peering in to his eyes. "You have not scared me away." She corrected and finally tossed her gaze away form him when he said she was beautiful. "Beautiful hm?" She stood on all fours and turned away, started to walk away. Though she was gunna stay the the general area.
She wasn't leaving him persay. She jumped quickly and in one soft settling stance as she landed on a rock on the water's edge. "Im nothing of the sort. Though I can not say~ Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. So.. I thank you humble Belial~ I told you before I had admire your looks... " In a lightly dance of grace she stepped to the other rock, then twirled to the other finally to face him. Some feet away if he wasnt following.
"You~ are dear to me. You hold a place in my heart." She smiled softly. "Because I have a lot to give." Seeing if he remembered what she meant~ back a long time ago. . Almost the words but in her form, now. Older and thoughtful.
"Where had you gone for so long." She said~ and her voice trailed as she became more serious and sad. She closed her eyes.. trying to gather her thoughts.

He blinked at her words Being forgotten is our fate. What had happened for her to say that. "I could never forget you. I know I havn't done very well keeping my promise to keep you safe dear heart. Who has hurt you? Who has forgotten you that you call it your "fate"?"
Just as he had the first day they met he wanted to cuddle her close and sooth her hurts and fears. But she was moving away from him... He stood and took a few steps to follow. Pausing he admired her grace, she had finally grown into it the promise of her youth. It only enhanced the beauty she was now denying. A happy croon escaped him as she mentioned admiring him. He slowly followed keeping a slight distance between them. Being cautious was built into him, treating her like a fragile treasure second nature...
"A big heart to go with that big name of yours," he replied smiling. But the smile fell as she turned thoughtful and sad. "I'm sorry I failed you Rennoa. I've been here but perhaps I trusted too much to the other guardians in your life. I didnt' want to interfer with your family." He flinched a bit at the reminder of the jealousy he'd had of her family unit a thing he had never experience in his own youth. Something he had a hint of now with Isoke as a sort of adopted sibling. As he spoke he closed the gap between them. "Tell me what's happened, what I can do to help. Forgive me Ren? I'll not leave your care to others ever again."

"....They are my family." She didn't open her eyes.. merely set her senses to highten. "Just I can remember your words.. and as I walk along this path, I feel as though you'll be at the end." Purring softly. "I remember the times with Isoke ... but i treasure the times with you." She opened her eyes to the Onix in color, staring in to those eyes she had known since she was little.
"I'll not leave your care to others ever again." She repeated and jumped to him, landing just as gracefully as she jumped. "What do you mean, talking indirectly will confuse me." She was truth and a lot has changed about her.. The happy child had lost something dear and she knew it to be so. "Its something you can not help with, i've merely grown to see the many things I was too naive to see. Its becoming an adult.. I suppose." Casting her gaze away. Indeed everyone treated her merely the same, at a distance except for her father and Jeiyana. the only two that gave her complete support and non caution over.. Everyone else.. She was merely the princess everyone wanted her to be.. Painted in the mask of pleasing others. After so long~ she had grown to only show that.. and now, so direct with anything she said and a smile for each ulaya that passed.
Her tails switched form each side, watching him as if he was the answer to anything and everything.. She waited for something.. in her heart, but not even she knew what she was waiting for.. A purr escaped her. "Does it displease you~ of what I have become." She said lightly, though a tint of sadness was added to the mix, her ears pulled back. Disappointment.. she had not ever casted anyone wrongly in such. Always smiling.. and that would cure all.

"Where one path ends Rennoa dear, another begins," he replied so that she could barely hear him. He purred as she jumped over to join him. "I mean just what I said Rennoa, if you wish it, I'll be by your side. What do those onyx eyes of yours see now that they didn't then?" He reached up a red paw to her cheek. "Displease me? What that you have grown up into a thoughtful beauty? There is nothing I see before me that displeases me; I just hope someday to see the sadness leave your eyes. I had my hurt and sadness as a kit, and now my heart is full and I know what family can be." He pulled her close to him and nuzzled her gently not knowing what else to say.

She stared in to those eyes.. Blank since she was, yet full of those thoughts from way before. The touch to her cheek... Her heart thumped. The words- they were slowed down in her mind as she processed them but without warning.. She was rushed in to his arms. Everything fell around her and made everything exit from her mind to only have him..
Empty~. Though now she felt full. Its when someone leaves you.. and another ish rushed back in to your life.. solution. Her heart stopped.. and her body reacted on its on, curling her arms around him, along with her tails circling them. What was she doing? ... What was happening? His sayings.. His words.
She couldn't say anything! Words! where the hell were they! But her thoughts were empty except the feel of him.. This felt. Right. Words like 'Your flattery...is all it is.' or 'Sadness is there for all to expirence.' Would have came out.. for sure but it didnt.. Her ears flattened as she snuggled herself in to him, rubbing her face full of his fur. 'You didnt scare me off' Was playing like a broken record now.. maybe she had helped him not be so lonely.. but she broke her promise and failed him as well.
Mutual. "I said I'd be there.. to protect you too." She said softly.. and a purr escaped her..She rarely blushed now a days.. But at this moment.. Her cheeks as black as they were darkened a deep red... Thankfully they were black..

He gently licked her holding her close. It was all he could do, all he wanted to do. Perhaps it was best that they'd had some time apart, that he saw her like this an adult different from the kit he had known. What he felt then holding her and being held was so different from the affection that had tied him to the little princess she had been. He felt the heat rise in her cheeks as she finally spoke. "Lets start again Rennoa," he said his voice soft yet eager, "We were different ulaya when those promises were made. A new path is forming before us, there are new promises to be made... If you wish ..." .

Nuzzling him softly, she couldn't help herself. "How do we do that Belial?" She lifted her head to look up at him.. the Soft expression came back to her face. Blush and all. She looked up at him.. she could just cry right now..The ulaya she knew so long ago.. and was jealous when another was near.. Protective of her things.. and ulaya.. Family..and him. She purred softly and nuzzled under his chin, like a kitten in need of attention.
A tail coiled around his and the rest around him.. At the moment.. This felt as the safest place.. Having her someone turn her back on her affections.. not complete promises.. false words... Wrapped around her and held her heart down and tight.. It felt.. Like he was lifting it..slowly. But she held in the tears and let her ears open and rise to hear his words of flattery.. and thoughts of a better path ahead.. Whatever he meant by that.. Fantasy edged in to her head slowly. No! Trying to fight it back.. nuzzling in his chest with a light whimper.
"My wish.. is for a better life than what im living.. I cant bare it no more." She said softly.. in the tone that was of a youth's very fish wish..yet one of an adult that wanted what she couldnt have. Knowing this.. in her heart..so chained up.

It took Belial a long time to think of just what to say. He continued to hold her and nuzzle her while her thoughts raced as well. He wondered at her whimper. What had happened to her? Though he wondered about it he didn't pry further. It would have to come from her in her own time.
"Would you like to try with me Rennoa? Just the two of us? We can still see our families but you're an adult now and I know Isoke has other friends and plans that don't involve having me around." His own cheeks warmed as he realized what he was asking her, but it seemed so natural to have her in his life. "I won't leave you to another's care again," he repeated.
