There had been a lot of talk of 'Family' lately around the troup. With Shaha's and Kiji's new litter and The strange female cheetah's cubs around. Her Own daughter was gone. Not that she blamed her. It was obvious to anyone with eyes that Ayane was not welcomed in Matawi's heart after Safi had been born. Matawi was a great aunt towards her, showing more love and compassion to her neice than she ever had to her own daughter. it was just how things went. There was no bad blood in her niece. Not like her own Daughter. There were words hovering in the air. Words of another litter coming into the picture soon. It went over her head that the families were talking about Kucha and herself. Everyone was so inquisitive. Being a mother again? She couldn't. Not when she hated her children from her first littler so much. It was just...Difficult. A thought hit her. Maybe...Just maybe. This was how her mother felt about her. Why her mother had left. What if she was just like her mother? What kind of monster was she becoming? Matawi stopped and sighed. This would be much harder than expected.

Parenthood was a funny thing. It something Usiku'busu admired to a certain degree, but had never really experienced first hand, neither with his own children nor with his own mother raising him. His mother had been too...open minded. One could hardly consider her motherhood proper or even close to reasonable. And Usiku? Well he knew he had fathered children once, upon a request. But that was it. Otherwise he had seen the marvel from afar and thought it admirable. To give up so much time and energy for children...it was quite heroic.
He loped along through the underbrush and the trees, slipping past ferns and brambles with only vague experience. He was a traveler and therefore a little more used to the savannah, since it was more common terrian. But he traveled through the jungle before. It wouldn't get the better of him. He stopped to duck past the trunk of a large, overgrown tree, passing an appreciating glance at its size. That would be quite and interesting climb...

SNAP. Someone was being a little less than careful. She peered up at the sky, only to see a black figure climbing a tree. Her heart stopped, at first thinking it was her daughter. As it started beating again it abruptly stopped. Black. Leopard. Two things that couldn't be good for her wellbeing. Was this a curse? To see someting that would remind her of the two things she detested the most? Of course. It was always like this. Always. Horrible.
She did not say a word only watched. Knowthing that her eyes were narrowed and sending peircing glares she hoped would reach it's soul. Blows that could kill it by the cold rips she tried to produce from a stare. Could it be possible? She hoped so. Matawi's eyes never wavered they kept dead on the target of her disgust.

Usiku jumped up, reaching a steady branch, and settled back on his haunches. He always liked the views from trees...perhaps it was just in his nature. He was a leopard, after all. How could he feel more at home anywhere else but a tree?
As he looked down he spotted another leopardess. He raised his eyebrows a little in surprise, seeing that she wore a very upset expression. But otherwise he was not offended. He let such malicious feelings roll off him like water.
"Were you stung by something...or bitten perhaps?" He asked, actually making the question sincere.

It spoke. It must be real. It was staring at her It was not helping her 'situation'.
This was not a good time for her. She was already hurting more than she should. There were things running through her mind, pulsing faster and faster from her tail to her ears. She could hear her mothers distant voice. The pain in her Daughters and Sons when she abandoned her. The sound of Ayane's sweet voice when Matawi told her she was to old to be with them. A pathetic excuse to get her away from her. Everything was flooding back to her at the sight of the one things that could rip her to shreads in a matter of moments. Her calm, cool, liquid movements locked up. She sat erect. Unable to relax or calm down in the least.
"Stung... By bitter memories." She spat at him. It wasn't his business. This sweet girl had never done anything so bitter on inmpulse like this. She never had to. Small things kept her in a constant mellow mood. But it was as if all the bitterness and hate flooded out at once. Her words were nothing but a bitter whip. Trying to break down this stranger. Had everything really been this bad? To put her in such a mood?

"Ahhh, I see," Usiku murmured, slipping down to lay on his stomach to better see her. He kept his movements languid and relaxed. It was how he moved naturally, but it was an interesting contrast her her agressive stiffness. He let his tail drop down and curl in the air, his orange eyes glittering the in speckled shadows as he watched her.
"I'm sorry, that must be comfortable," he consoled swiftly. He didn't really have bitter memories of any kind, but like his mother he did his best to empathize with others. It was part of the experience of travelign and seeing what life had to offer.

How could this apparent male stay so calm while she was on edge?! It wasn't fair. It just wasn't fair! Tawi knew that if looks could kill she would be staring at a dead body. Not something so calm. Not something that could infuriate her while trying to be sweet. This was impossible! She hated it. Hated it with so many fibers in her body.
As parts of her mind were pulling at her to calm down and relax. To open her eyes to this non-threatening male. He did nothing to her. He would never do anything to her if she was seeing how this was going the right way. Why? Just why? She couldn't answer anything any more. This was so confusing. Her heart told her to relax. But Her head... It was so clouded with hatred and past things. It refused to let any of this go!
"I..." She couldn't speak. an internal fight was taking place. Leaving both things that could form words preoccupied with eachother.

"You must have had some pretty terrible experiences," he voiced absently, watching her expressions and body language carefully. If Usiku was anything he was observent. It came with being a traveler out to see the world; he wanted to see and take in everything. So it made picking up small traces of images very easy.
"I can't honestly say I feel your pain," he told he with a hint of an apollogy in his voice, "But I am sorry it is so horrible that it affects you so."

Matawi wanted to scream that he was wrong. She had never had a breakdown that happened to be so physically and emotionally draining. Has all the bad things pushed her offed the edge into a dark place she couldn't crawl her way out of?
Her breathing sped up. Her chest rising faster, slower, faster again. She felt trapped in her own skin. The world was spinning at such a pace. So impossible. A first time. One time. She wouldn't let her composure get lost like this again. It was much to hard to pick up the fragile broken pieces and hold them together long enough for her to breath. Matawi nodded before fainting promptly after

"Oh, well that's not good," Usiku murmured to himself as he watched the other leopardess collapse. He glided to his feet as quickly and elegantly as a serpent before jumping down from his perch. He loped over to her form, slowing his steps the closer her got.
When he was right next to her he stopped, lowering his head a little and flicking his ears attentively. She had to be breathing still, right? He couldn't imagine a healthy leopardess just keeling over on the spot. That wouldn't be good. He nudged her very gently with one paw, "Miss?"

Matawi blinked. The male was now near her, staring with concern. It was nice knowing that she could hold herself together again. Her heart was beating slowly, her blood cooling considerably. Her eyes blinked open. Once, twice, three times. Her eye lids still worked. That was a start.
Matawi sat up and watched the male with cautious eyes. Careful to take in every detail that had nothing to do with her mother or her daughter. Relaxing sure did open her eyes to everything the male wasn't. For one he wasn't a female. That was something that should have hushed her feelings of hatred. That this male could have nothing to do with her mother. Or her seafoam father. He was nothing like them.
"I am Matawi, and I am deeply sorry for how I have been acting." Her voice was on the deep side, smooth like ice and sweet like honey. The change in the way she held herself was dramatically different. Almost as if she couldn't be the same leopard.

Usiku smiled genuinely, his white whiskers lifting as he did so. "Don't worry about it, Matawi," he purred in return, still extremely relaxed. It was simply in his nature, "I'm sure...whatever your reasons they were valid ones. Are you alright as of now?" He took a very fluid, casual step to the side to give her a bit of breathing room, his tail swishing and curling behind him. But his eyes never left her and they were always soft like the sparkle of fireflies.

"I am... Perfectly fine." She lied through her teeth. Lieing seemed much easier than slipping her feelings to a stranger. The concept was simply alian to her. After everything she had been through it felt as if this one male could be the one to break the fragile barrier between past and present. How utterly odd. This had never happened before. Should have never happened in general.
"Lovely." She whispered in a hushed sound. His eyes were just that. Lovely. Something that could make her stories more vivid. Just the color of eyes seemed to make the difference in a good mystery story. Matawi breathed in, trying to memorize all of this. It would be something to tell her niece and Kucha about. Something that could keep their undivided attention.

"Lovely indeed," he agreed with a laugh, a misconception on his part. He was refering to her feeling better; he didn't have any idea she might be talking about his eyes. It simply wasn't on topic. "I am glad you're feeling well again," he said warmly with a grin that flashed his white teeth, "Though perhaps you'd be take it easy...don't want you falling over again!" He chuckled, showing that he didn't really believe she'd keel over another time.

"I think I am fine." She looked over herself. "Lack of breathing, more or less." It was the only thing that seemed logical. Though, with her, logic seemed to slip from her paws and something illogical would happen at all times. It was simply facinating when she thought of little things that could easily be the source of her problems.
Unfortunetly, Matawi thought, This male would have been so much more fun to speak with if I had just given him the chance to when I saw him. She sighed. Of all creatures, she should have been the sweet and welcoming one, not the absured crazed one.
