Cobalt wandered through the forest, hiding in the shadows as usual. His coat matched the shadows perfectly, and he moved seamlessly enough to appear as part of the shadows themselves, invisible unless one knew exactly where to look.
It had been a long day, full of his self-imposed training regimen, and with a touch of loneliness. He hadn't seen anyone at all since he began training...he had wanted a lonely place where he wouldn't be bothered...but perhaps too much loneliness was a bad thing. He wished someone would come by, break the silence of his days...and perhaps give him a reason to smile again.

Kyoniki too, was traversing this same forest, though far smaller than the stallion she did not see. Her red, black, and white frame was dwarfed by the dappled shadows that seemed to smother the air above her, so she quietly continued along the ground. Her delicate wings fluttered slightly, as part of a nervous habit, but her head was low-hung and straight forward, looking for an escape from the oppressing scenery.
For a moment, she paused at a mighty oak, snorting in frustration, as the branches wove an impenetrable canopy above her head, but she pushed forward again, disheartened and bored.

Cobalt continued on, pausing to examine the sky through the trees. Fluffy white clouds floated by, seemingly without care, and Cobalt wondered what it would be like to have no cares in the world. What would his life had been like if he had been born with feathered wings instead of leather ones? He sighed, turning his gaze back to the forest floor. It was no use dreaming of what could have been. There was only what was, and there was no changing that. Stepping forward yet again, he saw a brief flash of red, but paid no mind to it, thinking it only to be a patch of flowers, or some other red flora.

The sound of stirring reached Kyoniki's ears, and her delicate head snapped to face that direction. She could make out no distinct figure, only colors and shades of black, brown and... blue? She narrowed her eyes, trying to see further into the woods, but to no avail. The mare's muzzle turned down in a sour expression, and she hesitantly took a step closer towards the blue, though it moved onwards and away from her.
Her small hooves scarcely sounded while she trotted, and her wings were even more muffled as the stirred the air, subconsciously moving them as though for propulsion.

Cobalt, still oblivious that he was not alone, walked at a leisurely pace, dragging his hooves slightly on the ground. He sighed, and stared up at the sky yet again. How he wished he could fly out into the sunshine. But then he would be visible. Other Soquili had not been so kind to him...mocked for what he was and what he was not. No, it was best to stay in the shadows until nightfall.
