((I'm starting this little RP thread for if you'd like to RP the SS gifting! If you're busy or something, no worries, just don't reply and I'll drop the presents off in the thread here tomorrow.))

Tromping through the snow of Gaia was not high on Emperial's list of favorite things to do. Despite having lived in Virginia for many years, she hated the snow. It was COLD. It had to be SHOVELED. And even though it snowed, a lot of times the snow was insufficient for building a snowman and making snowballs! So it was unsurprising that she tended to spend her winters indoors as much as possible.

But not so today. Today, she had an errand to run, so, tucked carefully into her mother's goose down coat with furry hood, she ventured out into the snowy lands of Gaia with a hefty bag in her arms.

With her were two passengers of a curious assemblage. Squeezed into either side of her hood, Simon and Fifth regarded the cold with varying degrees of interest. Simon pondered the formation of ice crystals and Fifth pondered the sensation of the snow against his skin. Snow was amazing stuff, he thought. If you lay in it long enough it felt as if you were going to die. Emperial certainly felt that way.

Eventually, her tromping and stumbling brought them to the front of a door. Emperial shook off her boots and shuffled the weight of the bag she was carrying in her arms so she could knock. One, two, three she knocked, and then stood patiently and waited for a response.

"I hope they're home," said Simon worriedly from her right ear. "You did wrap everything up securely?"

"Yes, don't worry," hissed Emperial, "it's very secure and warm. Shh! I'm trying to listen." The fairies fell respectably quiet.

(( Actually, I have been busy, but I should be able to do a little RPing now, if you're still up for it. ninja If not, then just ignore. xd ))

Rhia sat on the couch in the living room, rifling through the yellowed pages of a large, leather bound book. As always, her gaze was hidden behind her sunglasses and a cigarette smoldered between her lips. She was still in a rather touchy mood, having been called back from her vacation early and then having to go through a hell of sorts, but at the moment she was past the stage where she very much wanted to disembowel someone.

Her long ears flicked back and forth at the sound of a knock at her door, the numerous piercings giving off a faint melodious sound, and she lifted her head; her right brow arching once the knocking had stopped. She closed the book with a dull thud and set it on the coffee table, letting out a soft and rather smoky sigh as she stood and headed for the front door. She wasn't expecting company, and if it was Zarien again she would kill that stupid seaborn...

She grasped the doorknob and opened the door, for a moment her stony features conveying a confused expression before she was able to mask it. Again her brow arched, but this time in curiosity rather than annoyance. The feathers of her bi-colored wings ruffling slightly at the cold and her tail twitching, she took the cigarette from her mouth and puckered her lips; blowing the smoke away from the woman standing at her doorstep before running her tongue over her lower lip, "Can I help you?"

Emperial's heart skipped a beat, partly from awe and partly from fear, but she swallowed both emotions and offered up in her most artificially cheerful holiday voice, "Is Avangelyne here? I have a delivery!" Then she smiled as if her naturally yellowish teeth could blind Rhia and distract her from the distinctly odd movement occuring underneath her hood as Simon went scrambling for the very back of her head -- all nine inches of him.

But on the other side of her head, Fifth leaned out with honest curiosity and boldly asked, "What the ******** are you?"

"Fifth!" Emperial half-shrieked, and smacked herself in the face as she attempted to bat the impish fairy into the depths of her jacket hood. She managed to hit him, but it was a mild rebuke at most.

Rhia narrowed her slitted eyes behind the sunglasses as Fifth spoke, having not noticed him before. Ah, a feien, it made more sense now. She found it slightly amusing that he seemed to have horns that resembled her own, only his were a dark red, not black, and a little longer than her own. Flicking one of the three silver rings that adorned her lower lip with the tip of her tongue, she gave him a cold smile, one filled with four long fangs, "Why don't you come over here and found out for yourself."

It was said more as a statement than a question, for she really had no interest in hurting such a tiny creature, no matter what he said. She tapped the ashes off the end of her cigarette and brushed the comment away, instead turning away from them for a moment and calling to Ava, who was upstairs with Kenshi. The winged demon turned her attention back to her guests after, rather loudly, shouting for her feien to get down here, and she gave them another humorless grin.

A moment later Ava appeared from behind one of Rhia's wings and landed on her bond's shoulder, her bright eyes filled with curiosity and - unlike Rhia - a welcoming smile lighting her face. She noted the blue haired feien on Emperial's shoulder and her smile widened slightly, glad to see a new feien, "Hello, I'm Ava."

"They already know who you are," Rhia commented wryly, taking a long drag from the cigarette and tilting her head back slightly to blow the smoke away from the small group. She lowered her gaze and trained it on Emperial, this time offering a slightly less icy smile, "I believe you said you have a delivery?"

"Yes," said Emperial, keeping one heavy hand on Fifth to prevent him from making any further comment on the situation. "I have presents from your Secret Santa for you. Ah, here..." She set the bag down very carefully, freeing up her other hand, and fished out a small box with two good luck charms attached to the handle:

A moment later she produced a healthy-looking bamboo plant with a note wedged between two of the stalks. The note bore Ava's name in thick black letters.

"Happy Holidays," said Emperial cheerily, releasing Fifth just long enough for him to mutter, "Happy Chrismahanukwanzakah." The deeper voice of Simon emanating from the back of her hood offered a lackluster "Happy New Year." At least the three voices all seemed to agree on the idea of being happy.

Ava seemed thrilled with the gift, Rhia on the other hand seemed less than interested in it. The small earth feien blinked a few times and leaned forward, trying to peer into the back of Emperial's hood as Simon spoke. She was only able to make out a small part of the general shape of a body, however, but this didn't seem to deter her enjoyment of the gift, "Thank you, it's very lovely!"

"Yes, just perfect." Rhia commented mordantly as she blew another cloud of smoke into the air. Ava gave her bond a slightly annoyed glance before looking back to the three on the doorstep, "Would you like to come in? It's cold out, we have coffee and hot cocoa if you'd like to stay for a minute."

Rhia paused in the middle of filling her lungs up with smoke as she heard this, and for a moment seemed as if she might just slam the door in their faces. After a second or two she exhaled softly and her tail flicked lazily behind her, the same, sober smile coming to her dark lips as she reached out and accepted the gifts from Emperial. She seemed to struggle with the words that came out of her mouth, as if being civil at this moment in time were a painful act, "Yes, would you like to come in?"

"Oh, no, that's okay," said Emperial, bowing her head slightly. "I still have another errand to run. But thank you very much for the offer. Perhaps another time?"

Ava's smile faltered slightly and she seemed a little disappointed, but she nodded her head to the three. "It was nice meeting you, thank you again for the gift. Don't hesitate to stop by in the future."

Rhia waved the cigarette at them once, the smoke that came from her mouth almost looking like the simple plumes of fog that one's warm breath created in freezing weather such as this. "If you come again, make sure to leave that one at home, or gag him before letting him say anything to me." She pointed the lighted end of the cigarette directly at Fifth and gave him a small, silent snarl before stepping back into the house.

"Please don't mind her, she's just in a bad mood. Goodbye, and take care!" Ava gave them a small wave as the front door was closed, followed by an audible clack as it was also locked.

(( Had a few minutes on the computer with nothing to do, so I thought I'd add one more post to this. ninja ))

Rhia walked into the kitchen and set the plant and the box onto the table, immediately crinkling her nose in distaste at the scent that came from the box. Ava on the other hand, seemed delighted with it as she landed on the table next to the box.

"Open it!" She said happily, stepping up to the box and clapping her hands together once. Her bond complied, and carefully unwrapped and took out the three food items that were inside. The feien's emerald eyes lit up and she promptly dipped one finger into the mango pudding, tasting it and smacking her lips together afterwards.

"This is really good, you should try it!" She told Rhia, who grimaced again and headed for the hall.

"I don't think so." She mumbled as she walked out of sight. Ava watched her go for a moment and then shrugged lightly, dipping her finger into the pudding again and licking it clean. A Secret Santa, like she had been one for Ursa. She wondered if the blue-haired feien that had been on the woman's shoulder was her Secret Santa, and if so, she would thank him properly sometime.
