I know some people disagree with me on this, but as I've recently said, I think Microsoft made the deal with Square and made the announcement when they did not only for profit but to throw a blow to Sony. Some say Microsoft might have only did it for profit and could care less about Sony. The fact is, Microsoft has had a history of crippling the competition.
Take a look at this. Some may already know some of the business Microsoft has had with smaller companies. In my opinion, I think they're going after the gaming market now. Personally, since Sony and Nintendo are a lot bigger than companies like Netscape and Apple were at the time, I think it will be a lot harder if at all possible to monopolize the gaming market.
Nevertheless, I think Microsoft is going after Sony, and if they cripple them in the gaming division...I think I can assure you they'll go after Nintendo next.
Disclaimer: I did not make this topic to bash the 360. I intend on getting one before this generation is over. I'm just bringing attention to Microsoft's history and what could happen to the gaming market. I made this topic in sole concern for the stability of it. I think the gaming market thrives on competition and I'd hate to see it become pretty much monopolized.
