~The Truth~
Ah yes, the realm of fantasy. Set in the medieval ages, its ridden with fantastical creatures of all shapes and sizes. Heros holding swords go forth at the commands of their aged kings, to battle with evil villains. Princesses are won like trophies, traded like cards, and shipped off to various countries. Rouges drink wildly in taverns full of noise, dirt, and mirth. They gamble away stolen goods, and gossip about the few members of the town.
Market squares bustle with life, and business. Filled with the noise of many countries tongues, hands send goods circling about in a ring of economics. At home children scamper through the streets, playing with marbles or acting like beloved knights.
Mothers cook, wash, sweep. Men slave away with primitive tools, cutting a living from the reluctant earth. And yet, all is well. All is kept. For the towns are surrounded in their heavy stone castle walls, their flooded moats with angry beasts. Armies hold back all evil. All is well...
Or so, it is portrayed to be in all the modern texts. What if in fact, only half were true? What if over many years of story and spoken lore, the gray areas have been twisted and mended into white and black?
Yes indeed, what if everything was a little less clean cut, and a little more shaped by human hands? Not names in a history book, but living breathing people. People with dreams, with thoughts. With problems.
How can everything be kept perfect, unless there is some one to maintain the bliss? Some one to take out the trash. People who's names are not mentioned, but covered over by men in shinning armor, men who dared not leave their nice castles.
Peasant people. Teenagers. Rouges, criminals, poor men. People who are braver and sturdier then portrayed. People with already dirty hands.
These, are the true maintainers of medieva life.
In this realm they are the Questers. People who dare to dig deep into trouble in order for a little coin, and perhaps temporary fame among their own people. Dare you join them, and see what I mean?

~The Story~
Located on a vast, Europe like mainland, in a time long ago, their is a small country by the name of Vlasta. Its lands have been greatly decreased by a series of painful and bloody wars in the recent past. Its government too is weak, as the old king was slain in the last of these wars, leaving his rather inexperienced and selfish son to the thrown.
Farid, the crowned prince, has managed to leave the country in a state of peace, even if it is tense and temporary. For now his meager lands are safe from invasion by surrounding countries. However, his population has been diminished, his coffers are low, and there is countless damage to various properties.
Things he doesn't really know how to handle. In fact, he knows how to handle very little. This leads to even more problems in his already delicate and crumbling nation.
However! For all his short comings, the young king has devised a rickety system of maintaining order. Rather then dealing with problems himself, or ordering his rebellious and short handed military to do them, he has started to hire others.
Some might politely call them helpful citizens. Others rudely would scream things along the lines of deceiving lowlife scoundrels. Really, it depends on the mercenary.
The Questers.
From non-human minorities to criminals, they are all that stands between Vlasta and utter ruin. Farid can only hope that his crews of strange beings will continue to stay in his control as he tries to quell attacks from dragons, spies, and traitors.
The question now. Will you help? Or would you rather stay back, and spit on the dirty faces of those willing to fight for your country?

~ The Questers ~
The term questers of course comes from the word Quest. The king takes counsel from all his city states every once and awhile, to hear of their problems of late. Then, he picks out the ones he either can't handle, or the worst. Then, he has them written up onto offical government parchment, detailed, priced, and posted in the local area. These are his offical quests. If any one, young or old, should complete the quest and return with proof, they are to receive a reward.
Simple enough, and for a long time its worked. However, when their is a reward in a poor country, it attracts more then just good hearted people.
In many places, the term "Quester" Is not a good label to have thrown at you. More of an insult. The racist humans of Vlasta hate to see Elves, Goblins, or any other highly intelligent humanoid working on their problems, which more often then not, has been the case.
Still, that hasn't stopped a few good hearted human citizens from joining in on the quests. Hopeful teens, insane children, angry house wives, you name it. Its a mixed lot.

~The Law~
The law of Vlasta is vague and worn out. Not many people are even sure whats illegal any more, due to the lack of enforcement. A few things remain, however. Murder and stealing are highly frowned upon by locals of all towns. They will likely deliver justice to you in ways they see fit. Sometimes, they may do so with out giving you a trail, or even having a reason. Remember, these are hateful suspicious people for the most part. Try not to be seen with black cats or broom sticks. Witches aren't popular.
Then too, if your suspected of being a spy from anouther country, you might just be chased out of town with a pitch fork at your back. So watch it. These are dark times.

Follow all guild rules, and all gaia rules. Remember to have fun with this role play, and be creative. Remember to READ EVERYTHING. I've tried to make it entertaining, but its also informational about the nature of this role play. I will not be happy if you don't post often, and with a lot of descriptive words. Its hard to role play with some one who doesn't do a lot. Keep at least four full sentences going at all times. I can change my rules whenever I want to. I am also god, so please listen to me. If I tell you your doing something wrong, its because doing so is hurting the role play. By changing it peacefully, everything will work much more smoothly.
-- Important Send all profile applications to me. However, if I am not online at the time you send it, you are allowed to start with out my consent.
Please be warned, that while you are allowed to start, when I log back on I may ask you to change a great deal (or perhaps nothing.) about your character, and what you've already posted.
