This is a private RP for:

APHISMET
and
STOREI (Isikoro/Eiry)

TIME: early morning
PLACE: Delaran home Kitchen
WEATHER: Nice and sunny.

Aphismet was in the kitchen, as usual, before most other people in the house were up. The mood was tense lately. After Rivener's attack on Isi, the whole family seemed to be drawn tight like a string. Isi was trying to be civil, and calm, pretending like nothing happened. Rivener was hiding in his room, refusing to interact with anyone. Aphismet smiled and was nice to everyone, trying to somehow dispel all this bad mojo... But he was failing at that, failing miserably.

He sighed. He couldn't keep his family happy. He didn't know what to do, he wasn't... He wasn't knowledgeable in this kind of thing. He was a poor excuse for an adult, guardian, brother, whatever he was supposed to be, here. But he couldn't give up! He'd make things better somehow, if only by giving everyone silent support.

And today, to bolster that support, Aphi was making omelets. Isi was finally up and about now, and the boy would surely be needing some energy. A big omelet full of good stuff would be appreciated, the chef was sure of it!

Humming, the chef set about making the meal, smiling.

While the rest of the family was in a state of turmoil and discomfort, Eiry was the only one who showed the least effects of the dreadful situation. He went about normally, feeding his multiple pets and interacting with ghosts, watering Isi's garden (on strict orders of course) and building multiple contraptions and burying things by random in the back yard. Of course he went to and fro from one family member to another to try and get them to be like they used to be, happy and content, but all his efforts were in vain. The situation was too tense for a minty ghostly frei to remedy.

What he COULD do, was fill in some of the gaps of Aphismet's memory.

Some of the things preying on his mind needed to be brought to light, not only for the sake of his clear conscience but also for the sake of Isi. It felt like it needed to be said, needed to be told. So it was on that morning that, Eiry floated through the walls of the Delaran home and into the kitchen where Aphismet busily bent his back over the morning's breakfast. Coming closer, as quiet as any other ghost in the house, Eiry didn't speak a word until he was right by Aphismet's ear.

"Aphismet? Speak-talk, I must. Will you listen?" He watched him with large wondering red eyes.

"AAAURGH!!" Aphismet screamed, scared out of his wits by the sudden voice at his ear. The chef scrambled to turn around and clanked against the counter, his heatbeat drumming in his ears. There were way too many ghosts in this house.

But this time, at least, it was only Eiry. Aphi raised an egg-covered hand to his chest, ignoring the mess he was making, letting out a sigh of relief. "Good god, Eiry. Do you HAVE to scare me like that?" He chuckled a bit, borderline hysterically, as the fear ebbed out of him. Aphi turned back to the bowl he'd been beating eggs in, noting that a few shells had flown in when he'd bumped himself backwards in terror. Picking the small white bits out of the mix, he glanced over his shoulder at the minty Frei.

"You have something to tell me, Eiry? I'll listen, whatever it is." It was a little confusing, to tell the truth; Eiry would normally say things to Isi, not Aph. But if the ghost Raevan wanted to talk to Aphi, then he wouldn't stop him.

Eiry couldn't help himself but laugh as Aphismet jumped away and threw a torrent of egg all over the kitchen. Whenever he scared someone it made him feel great! Not like how he ate death, but in a more "look what I can do" way. Eiry puffed his chest a bit and gave a big ear-to-ear Cheshire grin as he floated over to the counter top and took a seat where it was empty. His ribbon dangled over the side and he leaned in closer to Aphi, still smiling.

"It is my pleasure, Aphi!" Eiry responded, "To scare makes me big-smile. But yes!" Eiry nodded his minty waves of hair and took on a more serious demeanor, "Something to tell you, I have. It is of Isi. Isi and the man who came here. Julian, his name was. Of them."

To Eiry, asking the question was more to get it off his chest and have an answer for something he really didn't understand. He cared for Isi, but it wasn't in Eiry's prominent thoughts that what had happened between them at Isi's rescue, was anything short of "bad conduct". He just knew it was not common practice.

Aphismet blinked over as the Frei floated up to "sit" on the counter. He wondered for a moment if he should berate Eiry and tell him not to do that, mostly an instinct from the Restaurant. If someone sat on the counter there, all hell would break loose. But this was home, and as long as Eiry wasn't in anyone's way, it would be fine.

The Raevan's words caused Aphi to look over, an eyebrow curving over a dark brown eye. Something about Julian and Isi? The white-haired chef frowned. Ohhhh, this better not be something along the lines of "Julian was rude to Isi", or anything like that. It was already quite insulting that it had been THAT man, out of all people, who'd appeared at Aphi's house while he was gone. If Julian had come over, and then done something to Aph's brother, then...

Well, Aphismet really wasn't sure what he might end up doing, but surely an angry phone call would be the first thing. Then, who knew. Maybe an angry slashing of tires or something.

"What about Julian and Isi?" Aphi prompted, pausing in his egg-beating to give Eiry his full attention, a fist on his hip.

So this was where Eiry decided to pick his words closely. He took a moment to think, watching Aphi's body tense up at the mere mention of Julian Sweet and he decided it would be best to tell everything that happened before the incident, just in case. He didn't want to give Aphismet the wrong impression. His minty ribbon twitched a couple times, bouncing lightly in the air before Eiry began his recollection of the event.

"Julian came and saw Isi on the floor where he lay, quivering like he was cold with no sweater in winter. White, white, white, and in pain he looked. Isi could not move, could not talk save moan-sound and whimper-sad. He moved like fresh fish out of water. Julian saw this and he moved quick. He knelt by Isi's side and tried to hold him still, then he drank something clear like water but foul of smell. Slowly he bent over, pinning Isi down and tight..." Eiry paused in his story, more to give dramatic effect than anything and then he said in a soft eerie voice, "Then kissed. Lips around Isi's full and locked. Isi struggled, Julian remained still, then so did Isi, still as undisturbed water he became. After, Isi became slowly better." It was at that moment that Eiry's brows furrowed in concern and asked, "I thought to kiss was only in love, like Poe says. But Julian kissed Isi. What does that mean?"

Aphismet frowned in confusion, trying to string together what Eiry was trying to say. It was sometimes hard to discern what the Frei was talking about when he used his half-poetry speech pattern, and Aphismet wasn't sharp enough to always get the full meaning. Still, he could understand that Eiry was talking about when Isi was sick. At the sickest, it seemed. White-faced, whimpering, flapping about...

Then Julian entered the picture and this is where Aphismet's face blanched, brown eyes flaring.

Julian KISSED Isi?! ...Ok, calm down. Aphismet turned from Eiry and placed both hands on the counter, the one palm still sticky with eggs. Aphi forced himself to take a few deep breaths and think about this. Come on, Julian might be a dillhole, but he wasn't a *****. At least, Aphi didn't think so. So why would he kiss-?

"You said he drank something that smelled bad, right?"
Aphi finally said, somehow trying to make two and two add up to four. "That must have been the antidote. So I g-guess it wasn't a kiss, it was just... Kind of like mouth to mouth?" Aphi looked over at Eiry, quirking his own eyebrow as if asking the Frei if this made any sense.

The progression of emotions on Aphismet's face was enough evidence for Eiry to deduct that he had the right idea in going to tell him what he knew. Now he had Aphi's full attention, which was good since the minty frei knew it took concentration to listen to his abnormal way of talking. Leaning back on his arms, Eiry tucked his chin near his chest and gave a slight nod of his head.

"Yes, yes," replied Eiry, "I suppose if to kiss is the same as 'mouth to mouth.' But I still saw fear in Isikoro's eyes. Mouth to mouth it was. Julian gave mouth to mouth to Isi. So...That's not something of love? Necessity rather than love?"

Eiry watched him carefully. Honestly, Eirdirsceol had no idea what "love" was except that he readin books, poems, and novels. He knew that "love" was something that people looked for, something that often eluded them. "Love" was expressed by "kissing". So in Eiry's mind, Julian had "loved" Isi and it was that "love" that prompted Isi's recovery. Medicine was still something foreign to Eiry's understanding. But he also knew that "love" had boundaries.

"Was it okay for Julian to mouth to mouth to Isi?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 21, 2008 8:45 pm

Aphismet blushed at Eiry's train of thought. It was over-simplified, and it made it sound like mouth-to-mouth was the same as kissing. And basically, Eiry thought Julian had KISSED Isi, really kissed. Sighing, Aphi made a mental note of telling Eiry about Mouth-to-Mouth later. B-but not now. Now, Aphi was a little too tired to deal with that.

"Y-yes, mouth-to-mouth was ok that one time. But you still shouldn't do it! that was a VERY severe situation, so... so it was ok. But, um... I'm going to have to ask Isi about all that when I bring him his breakfast..." Aphismet sighed. That was going to be a very unpleasant, awkward conversation.

Eiry watched Aphismet with curious red eyes, his face unchanging and expectant as he saw the emotions pass over his face. So, just by watching him, Eiry knew that there were things he still had yet to learn. He didn't mind, he didn't mind at all. In fact, he enjoyed learning and looked forward to this next lesson he was bound to be taught. Judging by Aphismet's weary look, Eiry guessed that it wouldn't be any time soon.

"Oh, okay. No mouth to mouth kiss, not until love is found. Not until Lenore comes back," the minty frei agreed, making a reference to Edgar Allen Poe's poems involving Lenore. Those were the poems he knew that had "love" in them.

"Isi is up up," Eiry said informatively, "He's trying to come down the stairs."

Aphismet quirked an eyebrow at the Frei, wondering what the hell he was talking about. It took a moment for Aphi to understand that Eiry meant the Lenore from the Poe books. With a chuckle, Aphi shrugged. Waiting for Lenore, hm? Well, surely Isi would be happy to learn that he won't have to deal with a young man that loves to chase skirts.

Eiry's next words, however, startled Aphismet back into action, whipping the eggs hurriedly. "Already up? But breakfast isn't ready! J-just a little longer... Eiry, can you go make sure he comes to breakfast? Or ask him if he can even stomach solid food today?" Aphi turned on the stove under a skillet, and began cutting vegetables while it heated, ready to pour the egg in any moment.

Of course, Eiry wouldn't be interested in girls yet. He was FAR too interested in tricks, pranks, and eating death to notice anything else beyond his scope of personal interests and games. As far as he was concerned, he was to meet with his lost "Lenore" some time eventually in the future, but he had to wait for her.

"Of course, Aphi!" Bouncing his ribbon, Eiry nodded happily and chuckled creepily to himself as he hopped off of the counter and floated casually out of the kitchen and up to the stairs. Before he left the room, he looked back over his shoulder and said matter-of-factly, "I'm sure you'll be done by the time he gets downsteps the stairs."

The stairs had never been a problem for Eiry, but after observing Aphismet and Isi trek up and down the stairs, he was glad that he didn't have to deal with them. Turning the corners and ascending the steps with the simple pump and flap of his ethereal wings, Eirdirsceol came across Isi who was tiredly making his way down the stairs. He was in the middle of the third flight of steps, sitting down and hanging onto the railing with one hand. He was still thin and a slight paleness still clung to the sides of his face, but overall Isikoro was making a good recovery. Unfortunately, he still lacked the stamina to make it all the way down the stairwell.

As Eiry came close, Isikoro lifted his head and shook the unbrushed hair out of his storm-colored eyes, "Eiry" he said breathlessly, "I thought you would be sleeping. Is Aphi up? Nevermind that, of course he is."

Eiry nodded in reply, "He wants to know if you can come to breakfast and if you want to eat solid food today."

"Of course, I want solid food," Isi said hurriedly, he gave a pout of the lip and said haplessly, "I'm tired of eating soup and porridge and oatmeal. I want something I can bite into."

"Okay, tell Aphi, I will," Eiry said with a smile and he began to leave when a thought struck him. He turned back to stare at Isi for just a bit longer, "Do you need help down-stepping?"

Cold grey eyes snapped towards Eiry and Isikoro's pout abruptly transformed to a familiar frown, "No. I don't need help. I can get down the stairs by myself very well, thank you. I'm just resting. I can get down. Now go tell Aphi what you need to."

Eiry shrugged helplessly. He should have known that Isi wouldn't need any help. He knew his guardian to be very stubborn when it came to obstacles. This was just another test he had to pass and if he didn't want help then that was okay with Eiry. Less work for him, at least.

Eiry floated back down the stairs and through a wall to get into the kitchen where he came from behind Aphismet again and reported lightly, "Isi says yes, solid food yes. He's still downstepping, just below the third floor. I guesstimate you have another twenty minutes before he makes it."

Aphismet had cut the peppers and onions and mushrooms, setting the small bits into the skillet on a whim and cooking them up so they wouldn't be too hard for Isi to chew. If he'd put them in an omelette raw, they wouldn't have cooked all the way... Once done, the mix was placed in a bowl nearby, next to the cheese. Aphi then began cutting orange and melon slices, arranging them on a plate that the egg dish would go into later. A glass of apple juice and a setting ot cutlery, and everything was set. Aphi only had to wait for Isi to arrive, and he'd make the meal with however much vegetables and cheese the boy wanted.

Eiry's sudden voice wasn't as scary this time, since the chef was somewhat expecting it. Aphi still startled slightly, but he turned and smirked at the Frei. "Twenty minutes? Hahahah, that's a little much. But, I'll wait." Aphi turned the heat down under the pan to keep it warm but not too hot. He then began preparing a plate for himself, with orange and melon slices.

Once Isi arrived, Aphi turned to greet the boy with a friendly smile. "Here you are! Omelettes for breakfast! How much stuff do you want in it?"

As the twenty minutes slowly went by, Eiry spent his time performing a science experiment. He had read through the notes of Isi's studies and he found out that you could take the shell off an egg by dissolving it! Curiosity intensified, Eiry managed to sneak an egg away from Aphismet. He only needed a couple minutes to gather the supplies he needed and in no time the egg was floating comfortably in a solvent in one of the glass cups he had retrieved from a cabinet. Settling it on the counter top of the bar, Eiry took a seat and commenced staring at the egg, waiting for the shell to dissolve.

When Isi finally stumbled around the corner and into the kitchen, Eiry lifted his head and announced, "Isi's here."

The boy hobbled into the room, looking as if he had just run a mile. Trying to catch his breath, Isi stumbled over to the bar and clumsily lifted himself onto a stool and laid himself upon his arms. Lifting his brows to get a better look at his older brother, Isi responded, "Omelettes? In that case, everything. I want a biiiiiig omelette."
