Hi, I haven't really posted much...I wouldn't really say I'm new...But I could be considered new...So anyways...
I'm having a Bat Mitzvah really soon, I just started learning Hebrew last year, and I'm on Torah right now.
Any Tips...?

write it out... copy word for word on the transliteration.
Trust me it helps.

Yes! What Neuf said! Also, if you can read music, write out the trop (the singing part) along with the transliteration, and study it that way. If you memorize the chant/trop, and mostly-memorize the transliterated words, it will help when you get to reading from the Torah, because the Torah's letters will simply be reminders of what you already know.

Agreed with both of them, but if your cantor does what I did and chanted it on a tape/CD for you to listen to, repeat over and over and over again a few lines at a type to memorize it and eventually go a little further. Though it might get stuck in your head a few times. blaugh

I know this is getting old but....Yes what DP said. My cantor did almost all of my alyahs on CD, and seeing as I did 62 lines it helped.
