As you have found out, the egg sanctuary is temporarily closed. Loku, Pokefan, Blackshadow and I are working on a suitable solution to prevent having so many eggs that the sanctuary is unable to take more.

Alright, the solution has been decided. We are planning on having one sanct, with all 15 of the posts available for dragons. Having one sanct keeps all the benefits of multiple sancts, without splitting up all the people's views. The true marvel of the Egg Sanctuary is that all anyone needs to do is just enter the sanct, and they have helped every single dragon there. No clicking even necessary.

If all goes well, the new sanct should be up by tomorrow!

PLEASE POST YOUR SUGGESTIONS HERE, AND DON'T PM THE MODS TO ADD THEM.

However, we would like you, the guild members' opinion on what we should do with the sanctuary.

Here are the idea Loku's leaning toward:

My opinion is entirely Lyth's on the fourth page.

We're more than likely going to go with Dranzer's solution:

Quote:

I just noticed; theres at least 80 types of dragons paiting to be released, ans we won't have room for them all. So, I propose this:

One sanctuary, but organized in a certain way.

Post 1: Intro
post 2: common, common, uncommon
post 3: uncommon, common, rare
post 4: common, common, common
post 5: uncommon, rare, uncommon
post 6 and so forth

We can mix breed rarities by having three breeds per post. If they are all on the first page still, they will gain views regardless.

When new breeds are released, we just add that breed to one of the posts. The max would be six breeds per post. The thread would have all 15 posts used on the first page, and then people could add their eggs.

Its one sanctuary, but multiple posts with multiple breeds with each post.

Seperate sanctuaries for each breed or for eggs and hatchlings will not be a good thing when there are 100 types of dragons. WE need to think ahead a bit before we're overun.

Right now the sanctuary is staying closed until all the critters in there grow up.

Having one sanct with 15 posts is simply more efficient that 15 sancts, with all of the same benefits. Sorry everyone who thinks we should get more than one, but this is the most likely solution.

Got comments, ideas or suggestions? We want to hear them.

Even if it might be an inconvenience, separating the dragons by type is a good way to keep people from double posting the same eggs and making more work.
And this would make it easier to create new space for when new sprites come around.
(and on a side note in case you have never counted, there are 20 different dragon types including the skywings)
I am not sure how a waiting list would work, it might just cause impatience. But I speak from experience with being a mod in a small guild. We don't have to worry about eggs getting lost.
(I am probably gonna keep adding my thoughts. I have a haphazard mind that doesn't follow linear pathways)

i like the idea of separating the eggs into different threads by color...

If it were me, I'd probably separate them into different posts or topics by color. Assign a couple of mods to each group, and then, if you need to, you can expand into a new topic/post easily. But I also like the idea of letting the eggs in the sanctuary already grow up a bit and kind of crossing them off your list. It might empty things out a bit, and you might not even need to reform the system just yet. heart

Hi! Thanks, Dranzer, for letting me offer suggestions. I'm a member of this guild and I'm a mod at the Dragon's Lair Guild. I manage an "Incubator" thread there for our members and friends. It's small but fairly active. And we have several folks who help watch over it and help "walk" babies in need through Chatterbox to have them grow and/or get well. Our Incubator is in a subforum and it's easier for us to keep up posts and updates.

I and my Incubator folks (bd004, being one of them) want to offer the services of our guild Incubator to the DragCave folks. The idea of certain eggs/hatchlings being looked after by Dragon's Lair, such as the papers, golds, chickens, and dinos, is certainly a workable idea. These are smaller groups and would not overwhelm our Incubator.

A general announcement in the Sanctuary thread could be posted if the mods there think this is a workable idea. That way the parents of these types will know where their babies are.

The mods then could PM the codes to you (bd004), me (Willa-Wisp) or Kimmoria. Or if any of the Sanctuary mods are also members of our guild, they can simply post them on our Incubator thread.

What about that?

i agree - multiple sanctuaries seem like the best solution, if it's a workable one.
the current sanctuary closed - right before i got my 1st skywing, too1 crying

That is why I love you Willa............
Yes, and since this is my last week of class till August I will be more available.
You could make a locked announcement here (to prevent posts) containing the eggs we move so that the owners know were they went.

I figure, even if the two guilds are different, we have a very common goal - raise healthy dragons. I see no reason why we can't together for the benefit of all dragon keepers/parents.

Ok, so a plan has been created.
Now to begin seeing what the other mods think in both locals.
(well, for us it is more just those who look after the little critters as we are not all mods.)

If there's multiple sanctuaries, that means that we're in shortage of mods. There's only four of us, including me and Loku. We all take care of the sanctuary together.
We'll probably have to hire some new mods.

Hmm.....................I would offer.
I just fear that I would not be able to handle the strain of taking care of 2 guilds. At least here it is easier, the eggs aren't linked to certain people.
I think it might be time for our guilds to officially join ranks, the only problem is ours is private, not public. To bad there isn't a way to make only certain forums of a guild public........
But I might consider the offer, just so long as I would know I would have help. Going back to college soon so that cuts in to my free time.

I appreciate the Dragon's Lair Guild offering to take a few of the species and place them in their Guild, but I really don't think that's the best option. I just know that we'd see a lot of people complaining/asking about why their eggs aren't with everyone else's. (We get enough people that don't read the rules, even though they're at the top of the first page.) And even if people did understand what was going on, I doubt they'd care to go to two guilds just to get their eggs grown. We have enough people posting eggs for their friends that don't join for whatever reason, and I think it will only get worse if we ask that they go to two guilds rather than one. Another thing against it is that it doesn't really help the mods as far as work goes. Making a PM to one of the Dragon's Lair Guild mods every time someone posts an egg that goes to that guild will be rather bothersome and will get annoying real fast I think.

I stand by my suggestion of having more than one sanctuary. I should note that as a mod, it is annoying to have to stop editing the post with most of the dragons and switch to the other post that has 1-2 species of dragons that didn't fit into the other post, which is why I prefer two sanctuaries rather than just use all 10 posts of the first page of a topic.

And Dranzer, we've been needing mods for a long time anyway, Loku just (again) hasn't gotten around to it.

Let me know if our guild (Dragon's Lair) can help. PM me any time.

Well, the sharing eggs thing would only be until everything can get set up. It wouldn't be permanent. It was only suggested so that the current sanctuary can get cleaned out so that modifications can be made.

I don't know, I suppose it would be alright if it was just temporary, but I'm really not looking forward to making those PMs. =/ Also, you guys just taking the rare species isn't going to give us that much more space.
