Nostrils flared as a yellow stallion with green stocking like patterns up his legs cantered onto a beach filled with nothing but sand, shells and facing the ocean. What else would a beach have anyway? Tossing his curly light earth colored mane about, Sokinnin’s faint grey/clear colored eyes gazed out at the vast body of water. He had heard of the ocean from his father, older half sister and the she wolf. He had come to the beach occasionally as a foal but not enough to really leave a deep impression on him. In some ways, he slightly envied his biologically elder mute niece whom he just called “sister” since they grew up together. Sienna traveled to the beach all the time and seemed to enjoy herself…
However, occasionally he’d spot her stomping home with a look of pure fury on her face. Since she was mute, he couldn’t really ask about what happened… and if he even tried to bring the subject up, she’d give him a death glare… That was Sienna for you. Sokinnin shrugged at the memories. Surely, whatever happened couldn’t have been THAT bad. Right?

Zuriel was beyond ecstatic when he went up for a look about the beach and spotted someone on the beach in front of him. And what was more, it was someone new. A completely clean slate. And he was determined to make a much better impression than he had on Miss Sienna.
"Hello there!" he called out, swimming closer, but leaving himself enough room that he wouldn't get stuck again. "Hello~! My name is Zuriel! What's yours?" That shouldn't be too anything to get upset over he thought to himself, now being a bit paranoid of making the wrong first impression.

Ears twitched as the sudden break in the ocean’s calm water made the stallion take a few steps back as his nostrils flared again. Glaring at the water with eyes poised for possible battle, Sokinnin was surprised to see a brilliantly colored creature rise from the waters to call out a rather happy greeting. Relaxing his shoulders, for he saw that the water soquili did not possess the same four legs to walk on land as most did, the young stallion approached the water, letting only a little bit of the ocean lap against his hooves and the tips of the fur on his legs.
“Hi. The name’s Sokinnin,” the yellow stallion replied with a small amused smile. “Nice to meet you.” Well, it wasn’t everyday that one met a mer soquili from the depths of the ocean’s water. Soki felt fortunate to have seen such a creature… but was unaware of the fact that this fellow had a habit of suddenly appearing around his family…

"Sokinnin...Sokinnin..." Zuri mumbled the name a few times to himself to get a feel for it. "Well good day to you Mr. Sokinnin. My you are a exciting creature aren't you. I dont know if I've ever seen someone as colorful as yourself."
Obviously Zuriel didn't stare in the mirror that often...

The stallion raised a brow at the comment, not quite sure if it was positive comment or a negative one… but from the looks of the mer soquili, Sokinnin figured that Zuriel meant the former. “Well, I suppose it comes from the parents,” Sokinnin chuckled lightly. “You ought to take a look at yourself if you ever have the chance. You’re rather colorful too.” The young stallion was rather enjoying this fellow. Zuriel was a bit odd but he was a good creature at heart…
If Sienna were here… she’d take out Soki for that comment… But its not like the yellow stallion knew about her relationship with the mer.
“Just call me Soki by the way. Its easier and quicker to say.”

"Soki it is then," he said, smiling at the young stallion. "That certainly is much easier. What brings you here? I've seen other land dwellers here before but never you."
As he spoke his eyes drifted down, taking in his chest, forelegs, and the tips of his hair. Surely he wasn't THAT colorful, there were plenty of fantastically colored fish out there.

“Nothing much really,” the yellow stallion replied with a light shrug. “I felt like getting some air from the rest of my family… and going for a run out in the open. The weather has been pretty nice, despite the heat.” A small chuckle escaped Soki, “Especially with all the water you have to swim in. Being a mer soquili seems favored during the summer season.”
The comment about other land dwellers made the young stallion rather curious though… How many land soquili had Zuriel met? For a mer, he seemed rather fond of the land… perhaps he should have been born a kelpi? “Who else have you met?” Soki asked innocently… not knowing what terror was in store for him…
In the distant trees near the beach a grey form protruded out from the greenery, ever so slowly moving closer to the beach. The grey form bobbed up and down, occasionally vanishing from view with the foliage and then reappearing. Like something rising and sinking in the ocean…

"Well," Zuriel mused aloud, "there was Verloren at first, then later Amara, Miss Horo, and who could ever forget Miss Sienna." He said it all quite naturally, suspecting nothing.
If Zuri had had a spidey sense it would have tingled until he was jumping up and down. As it was Zuri had to rely on his own senses, and was therefore blissfully waiting about, enjoying the nice water.

A long silence echoed between the two as the young stallion stood there looking rather dumb with an absolute blank stare. The names of his father, sister and the wolf were a surprise but those names he brushed off easily. It was the last name that made the poor boy’s world crumble to pieces. “Sienna? A-As in Amara’s daughter Sienna?!” Oh god no. Not HER. Why did this mer have to know his entire family?! What cruel god of fate cursed this poor fellow? And why did it have to be Sienna of all soquili!? Because Soki was family, he could get along with the raccoon colored mare… well enough anyway. But the thing that seemed to paint fury upon her face whenever she went to the beach… He felt like yelling at Zuriel to swim away… and FAST. But, the shadows in the trees suggested otherwise…
Slowly, the silvery grey form bobbed up and down even quicker as it moved with ease towards the beach. It seemed merry to a certain extent… not knowing of the pair of stallions whom lingered around the beach…

Zuriel starred back at Soki with puzzled eyes. "Yes, that Miss Sienna." He watched Soki closer. "Oh I get it!" He exclaimed triumphantly. "You've met her too! That's why you sound so shook up. She's definitiely unique isn't she? I'm just lucky Miss Horo came along to help smooth things over."

Now, if this were a modern day cartoon or anime, sweatdrops would be drawn all over poor Sokinnin at this point. How unlucky could this poor mer be? Soki shouted in his head. The yellow stallion prayed and prayed that today of all days was not a day that Sienna would come around on one of her daily outings… Alas, fortune was not on Sokinnin’s side either for fate had another plan all together in store for the poor boys. Of course, neither of them knew that… yet.
“Ahahaha,” Soki began a bit nervously, trying to shake off the feeling that doom was upon both of them. He hated to admit it but whenever his older sister got angry, he became somewhat terrified of what her small body could do. Otherwise, she was just a peach. “W-Well, yeah. I do know her. She’s my half sister’s daughter after all.” There was a terrible unease to the poor stallion’s voice.
A short dark grey mane bobbed along the trees as a happy raccoon colored mare popped out of the tree grove into the open lands before the beach. She was going to enjoy her time by the ocean side with not a care in the world. Skipping along merrily, as a horse might do, the distance between herself and the boys was drawing ever so closer.

With impending doom coming towards him like a raging storm Zuriel did what he did best. He got confused. So if Miss Sienna was his half sister's daughter...well wasn't Miss Amara Miss Sienna's mother? If so then that meant that his sister was Miss Amara...but only halfway? Zuriel had to wonder which side. Probably the lower half because Miss Amara was dark and Mr. Sokinnin's legs were dark as well.
"I think I get it," he said, forehead wrinkled.

Soki didn’t think the mer understood at all from the looks of it… Zuriel didn’t understand the situation on bit! But, Soki was thinking to himself about the mer’s relationship with his “sister”. He was oblivious to the fact that Zuriel was having difficulties understanding the term half-sibling. Raising his yellow and green masked head, the young stallion’s dark eyes looked about feverishly. There was a tingle down his spine that would NOT go away.
Sienna pranced along merrily. The day was beautiful, the sky was clear~ She was walking over some sand dunes now and slowly spotted the familiar yellow and green figure of her “little brother” and...
The world was no longer beautiful anymore.

Having determined that he knew what was happening Zuriel looked at Soki. "Are you ok Mr. Soki? You seem to be uneasy."
Poor, poor innocent Zuri. He really didn't know any better.

Before Soki could even begin to answer the mer, a thunderous clap broke out across the land as heavy footfall crashed upon the earth. A grey blur was speeding towards Soki and Zuriel at an amazing pace, one of which Soki had never seen before. Nostrils flared as dark red eyes were blazed with fury. Sienna was galloping full speed towards Soki, with dark intentions… If the young stallion weren’t so light on his hooves due to his training with his father, Soki would b in serious pain right about now…
Soki side stepped Sienna’s charge the best his could but still got a pretty good graze on his left shoulder. “Yeow!” The young stallion cried out. “H-Hey! Calm down Sienna!” He tried to pacify his elder “sibling” but he could tell that she was beyond that point now…
