Eight paws scurried quickly from the side of a river, the shouts of the strange two-leggers dad had mentioned his necklace came from, echoed behind them. Just the same as barks of mutated wolves, small, compared to their parents. Two sets of blue eyes flickered back and forth.

Do you think we lost them? one thought to the other, afraid to speak with their heart pounding inside their chest.

I think so, but you know daddy is going be sooooo mad, the other replied, paws still scrambling with the weight of their fawn pelts strapped to the duo's back.

"Hey, Isa at least now you got a necklace like daddy's and it will show you as a healer like him." The darker of the twins stated with a wag of her tail, and looking to her sister from the corner of her eyes.

"True, but dad is still going to be mad, if he isn't already. You know what type of anger he can get, Debora," Isadora reminded her sister.

The pair shuddered and Debora's eyes flickered to the red jewel that now hung around her sister's neck. "All well worth it. Besides dad says the rocks belong to the earth."

This made a smile spread across both girls' faces and they didn't come to realize they were running in a bit of territory not part of their father's stated area. Not like they had belonged to a pack, the parents said it was bad luck with the pack that they would belong to, but they did have marked land to play in.

The shadows swirled around the set of twins and they were now just enjoying their run back home, that was until the pair of them ran into two closely grown black oddly faced trees. No, the hadn't ran into trees, but an odd looking black wolf with faces on his legs, not like it mattered. Isadora and Debora had stopped laughing to rub their heads with their forpaws.

"Hey, watch it mister," they both cried in unison.

A mothers frantic cry pierced the usual calm of the willow, the sun had not even fully set yet she had woken a bit early to nuzzle her pups and find them a snack. Fie was horrified to discover her two girls missing, they had been the most difficult to birth her little darklings, delaying their other siblings arrival long into the night. She felt her heart constrict in her chest and she overturned her pelts in the hopes they were hiding beneath them. Each deer pelt made her more frantic for none were covering her little ladies.

"Adolfoooo!"

Chernabog snarled as two light lumps hit his legs, he looked down and inhaled curiously. A soft smirk spread beneath his metal fangs as he realized that the doe pelt covered two feisty female pups. He tilted his head and chuckled darkly as they cried out in unison.

"Me? You might not have run into me if you hadn't been in such a rush. Besides you out to respect your elders." He smirked and lowered his head to let his metal fangs graze the tops of their heads. With a sniff he lifted his head.

"Not a tribute from Akiiki Chibale...nor from Agua Azul..." He moved his paw to pin down both girls tails. "So what are you two runts doing on the land of the reign of terror? Looking to join?" His eyes gleamed with amusement, he could smell where these two belonged, they weren't so very far from their home and their parents scent clung to them. Chernabog found himself quite intrigued.

The shadow shaman had left the willow, and his family all snuggled under their unique skins, to go search for the white crab he had liked as a teen and even bring some back for his brood.

Six crabs dangled from his jaws when he heard the cry from Fie. Dropping the little albino creatures the male flew forward already calling all shadows with information to him.

"What is it?" he asked breathlessly, then looked over the pile of four, not six, but four pups. His eyes became hard and his demand from the shadows was rushed.

Ivory masked face turned towards the direction that the twins scent went towards, "I'll find them Fie, stay with here with the others." Adolfo said and with that moved like the shadows themselves through the forest.

The snarl was drowned out by them rubbing their heads, the male had legs like trees and their foreheads hurt! The chuckle however they did hear and Debora was the first to stomp her paw even to what the male said.

"Rush? Have you seen those creepy things that look like wolf rip offs?" the darker twin questioned, not knowing of the male's past, but the dogs were weird to her and her sister's young eyes.

Isadora looked to her sister, why was she speaking to the stranger, and then that was when he bent down to sniff their heads. Feeling some of her crown fur get buzzed down.

"Respect is something that isn't to be given," Isadora started.

"The only wolves that have default respect is those of the immediate family," Debora finished looking at her sister's head and knowing the same thing had happened to hers. They had ducked down enough to prevent the sharper canines from slicing their heads open, boy wouldn't that had made dad really happy.

Then as the male went on from hair-cutting sniffing, he said a word that made both girls raise a left brow, tribute.

What's that? Isadora thought.

Don't ask me I don't know, but it doesn't seem friendly. Debora answered, just as their stripped tails were pinned down by the red paws.

Debora's puppy fangs spread into view at the action. "We're not runts," she growled.

Whatever they are, Isadora added in thought.

Yeah, we'll have to ask mommy about it, since dad isn't going to be to sharing after this. Debora replied in silence.

"We're not joining anything..." Isadora stated eyeing the big red paw on her tail.

Fie knew she didn't have to tell Adolfo, her distress was enough, and after his eyes made a quick scan of their groggy children no words were needed. She nodded assured that he would indeed find them, she felt the shadows brush at her heart and her paws ached to run, find, kill, skin.

Fie inhaled and curled around her remaining children protective, she put her head on her paws and frowned. Was this what she had made others feel when she had taken their pups? It had been easy to lure smaller wolves from their dens with a new smell, and the killing had been easier as well. Those furs she used to wrap her paws in the winter when snowfall touched the mountain regions she had once dwelled in.

"I'm sorry, please let them be okay..." She murmured to the shadows softly.

~

Chernabog meanwhile was very amused with the girls, he thought the pups were entertaining, but unless he fed them to Valdis as a treat they were of little use to him now. He smirked as they spoke, so bold was their mother as bold? Perhaps she could be of use to him, he grinned.

"Wolf rip offs? Ahh the dogs, yes I used to kill them for sport." He nodded softly and looked at the girls curiously. "You've ventured near the two leggers then, the humans?" He nodded softly surprised at their brave yet foolish act.

He smirked down at Isadora and Debora "Would you respect me if you knew that those who don't are quickly killed and often eaten?" He chuckled and shook his head, pups were immune to threats, still too innocent to know of such things.

"No, not runts, but trouble I'm sure...I'd best take you back to your mother." And see for myself if she's as much a spitfire as her spawn, such a female would be welcome to the ranks and give Valdis a challenge.

He smirked and grabbed both girls by their bums and walked in the direction of their parents mingled scent, she had caught a whiff of the smell on days when the breeze was very strong. The family was packless it seemed and resided in the middle of the three surrounding packs.

The shadows were laid out before him, pointing in the direction of where his and Fie's daughters were. He would kill them, if he didn't love them so, but these two already reminded him of Shelby and Rally. Inseperable and a pain in the tail end, though highly lovable and sweet when they wanted to be.

Ebony paws skirted the land and his scent was being weakened eminencly as he got closer, though Adolfo didn't want to alarm another of his abilities until necessary, not like shamans were popular in packs, or widely known to be in them. So his scent came back and he popped out of a clump of trees right before a large black male with red and goblin faces upon his hide, but the thing that got Adolfo's fur bristled was the sight of his daughters hanging from the male's jaws.

"Dogs?" Debora restated the word and stuck out her tongue. She didn't like it. Isadora sat wide-eyed though, this male killed dogs for sport, she then shrugged.

Mother and Father would make short work of those dogs too, she told Debora, who bobbed her head.

Though it was Debora who spoke again, "Yeah, we stole the necklace for my sister, something that she will be proudly sporting when she becomes a healer like our father."

Isadora scoffled, the male didn't need to know all that, Debora, stop talking so much to him...

The blue eyes of Isadora narrowed at the threat, as did Debora's.

"Our mother would kill you and skin your pelt from your muscles if you tried such a thing," the darker twin growled.

"And if our father found you first," a glint flared in Isadora's eyes, "You'd wish mother had found you and skinned you alive."

"Daddy isn't as merciful..." The male had lifted them both up and cut their words short. Dangling but their rear-end upside down, they looked at each other.

Uh-oh, Isadora thought, not good.

Yeah, dad is gonna... Debora halted and looked to see the twins father burst out of a group of trees.

"Daddy!" both girls yipped in unison.

The twins yipped his title for them, yes, he was the spry duo's dad and he wasn't happy. The shadows stayed back, obeying their master's command to lie in wait. Adolfo stood to his full hieght, though he was the oldest and hieght wise biggest of his litter, Wazzam had buffed up with his role as alpha male of Agua Azul, this male was taller then him and bulkier.

Emerald eyes stared into the red orbs, not like Fie's eyes, these were vendictive and his lips quivered in an almost silent snarl.

"Place my daughters back on the ground," his voice was harsh, this was a good sign, at least he hadn't gotten to the calm pissed off stage, as of this moment.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 3:56 pm

Chernabog watched Adolfo with amused crimson eyes, but just under the amusement was a dangerous gleam, a warning that he wouldn't tolerate any acts of fatherly stupidity. He smirked and dropped the girls running his tongue over his double set of fangs. He wasn't too happy about having found the father instead of the mother, but at least the little ones had proved entertaining.

"I suppose these are yours then?" He smirked and waited. Chernabog would be pleased to let Adolfo take the girls and leave, but for a price. It was a small thing he wanted, simply for the black and white male to thank him. He knew that pride had a price, and while he demanded tribute from packs, from a family he simply wanted his acknowledgment. I am here, I can kill you, Be thankful I don't.

"Seems their quite brave..." He grinned at his added comment, he hoped the girls were brave and foolish enough to return when they were older, they intrigued him.

The girls hit the ground with their nose first and made a soft umph sound. With the feeling of the ground under them again, they rubbed their nose and glared up at the male. That was twice now that they had rubbed a surface on their heads and thanks to this male, they had shorter hair.

"Girls get over here, now," Adolfo instructed with a soft growl, to them of displeasure, but a warning for the larger male. The amusement in the alpha's eyes made the fur settle down, the ebony and ivory male was more aware of the underlining danger. The male was giving off a non-verbal warning and Adolfo was giving off the perception he was just an average protective father, nothing else.

Isadora and Debora darted out from under the male's shadow, tails tucking under their bellies, and back towards the clump of trees that their dad had jumped out of. They tuckered down beside one another, feeling the shadows acknowledge that they were fine, even bold with the stranger but not so much with dad.

"They are mine and they get the bravery from deep with-in their veins" he stated emerald eyes showing nothing more then what the other would expect, besides shaking with fear and knowing that he was classified as a lone wolf. Though Chernabog wouldn't figure that this was the male that Twist had spoken of with power, to her within her pack not outside of it.

Adolfo flickered his ear back towards the twins, who were laying low, he inwardly smiled. At least they remembered not to move to far from him if they were in trouble, and the shadows were thick. However the male was also reading the alpha as he did with Twist, he was being presented with the facts that this male was indeed an alpha, he could kill Adolfo's family, but this silent threat was something that made Adolfo's eyes spark.

"I guess I should be thankful you didn't kill them..."

"Daddy, you didn't have to worry about us," Isadora interupted her father.

"We were fine, the tree-leg was going to take us back to mommy."

Adolfo's ears flickered back, this alpha was going to look for Fiereza. His voice went from the growling upset tone to a lower calmer voice. "Girls, be quiet, that is all I'll say further to you." The shadows slipped between the girls, but stayed thinned out, still just moving with the darkness of the tree top shadows.

"I would never harm such tender little morsels, no I was more curious about how they came to be in my lands, and of course what blood made them so brave." Chernabog smirked softly, now he was more curious then ever, how small or large was this family? He had ignored their presence, but now he thought it might be wise to investigate it further. The twins had a spark of energy and intelligence that amused and intrigued him.

"Naturally I sought their mother to return them to, I was unaware their father was closer. I really should visit sometime...reassure you and your mate that the pups are welcome and safe within my pack...despite the unique appetites of some." He chuckled and glanced at the girls again.

Both Isadora and Debora clamped their mouths shut. They saw their father was reaching a shadowy calm.

Daddy, is in his shaman mood, Debora thought towards Isadora.

I see that, was her reply thought, though there was an external whimper.

"For your sake I hope not," Adolfo grumbled, ears flickering back to listen to what the shadows said for Isadora's whimper. She was fine, that was the most important thing at the moment.

The emerald eyes never shifted, but the shadows had snaked around to form a blanket in the clearing. "I would say one of their adventures led them into your territory on accident," the words were dry, Adolfo was refraining from doing anything impulsive, these were not just his offspring, but also Fie's and if anything happened to any of their brood, he would wish her to take him out.

The shadows hissed around the one that wasn't of the shadows, "They are also the nieces to the alpha of Aqua Azul, maybe that has something to do with their bravery." That wasn't really anything that passed through his mind, or anything that made him happy, stating family ties with an unbalanced pack made him wary. The twins were just like the rest of their siblings, strong and seemingly fearless. Maybe a fault in the way that him and Fie had worked on raising them. They had no reason to fear the shadows and as long as they stuck to the darkness, Adolfo could insure their safety.

"Of, course, the mother makes the best choice for such a good deed, but you don't need to go any further since I can take them back myself," the ebony and ivory male watched the alpha speak.

The calm in his voice was now deeper at the offer, "No, need for you to come and reassure us, since you seemed to have already state it with me." The shadows were muttering moving around and Adolfo could feel the soft wind they were causing to form in the still air.

Adolfo listened, "Unique appetites?" it didn't take him but a second to connect what the male was saying. The hackles began to raise.

The girls popped their heads up, "Daddy, what does he mean?"

Adolfo took a few steps back, not turning his back upon the alpha, but got before the pair of pups. "I'll explain it later, so I can tell all your siblings about what that means at the same time," he spoke towards them, turning his head and body to where he was standing sideways before them.

Adolfo wasn't going to give away the advantage he had with the solo-RoT member until it was important for his families safety.

"Ah yess...Agua Azul, I am certain soon they will send their tribute to the Reign. Such an interesting pack, unfettered by the bonds of family it seems." Chernabog had Valdis slinking about and finding out all she could of the two packs that bordered them. He watched the twins with narrowed ruby eyes, there was something about them that he tried to place.

Slowly his attentions turned back to Adolfo, there was something unique about him as well, it piqued his curiosity. "Of course, now that your here...but a mother always seeks reassurances. Perhaps some other time." He grinned slightly and nodded.

"And of course, you girls take care, the two leggers could do far worse to your spirits then I could manage to do with your hides." He chuckled and looked at Adolfo. "With luck they'll calm and learn caution with age." The alpha male had kind words, but his eyes were predatory, probing, dangerous.

Isadora looked to Debora before letting her eyes flicker between her father and the tree-legged male. A cold shiver raced down her spine before their father even came closer to speak softly to them.

What's wrong Isa?

Isadora was listening to everything that was being said and thought to her, but when the larger male directed his words towards them, the shiver passed over her again.

I don't like this male, look at his eyes. She thought back to Debora.

Debora laid her head on the ground and looked out from under her father's underbelly at the male. His eyes were a couple things she couldn't quiet describe, but their was an unvolintary shudder that coursed down her spine.

You can't show fear with another, no matter who or what they are. Always be strong Isa, or just lean on me. I won't let anything happen to you.

Ah, you're the bestest twin ever, Isadora chimed with a small, soft giggle.

Adolfo's eyes swept the male again, the shadows never ceasing to hiss around him. "Unfettered with family ties is exactly what will be their undoing. Without the bond of something, then you don't have an effective pack. It crumbles around the alpha's ears, so a tribute to you could be anything that Twist thinks is trash in her 'family'."

The emerald orbs were so hard that the faint light in the clearing couldn't reflect off of them, "Their mother trust my judgement, besides you don't know how much longer we might still be in the crossfire zone. We could remove ourselves this very evening."

What's dad talking about?

I don't know Isa. We'll have to ask when we get back home
.

"That would be the last mistake anyone could make, touching one of my children, I have no quams with ripping out human, dog or wolf throats." even with me being a healer or not really even ripping the throat out, he added silently.

His eyes looked back to the twins, they would be the death of him one day...or maybe Sly. It was a toss up, but Marion was maybe the apparent calmest of the litter.

Chernabog pulled his eyes from the girls and grinned at Adolfo. "Your have very special little girls..." He murmured before twisting as if to leave.

He glanced over his shoulder "If you feel the need to leave, you are welcome to pass through my lands. I bear no ill will towards such a dear family..." He smirked and nodded before trotting off with confidence.

Isadora and Debora looked at one another then looked to their father. He stood proudly before them just eyeing the other male, and they looked between his legs to watch the other move off.

"You didn't use the shadows against him. Why daddy?" they questioned in unison.

"You don't always throw the bear into the battle first, you let the omegas give false alligations." Adolfo stated softly, then turned to eye the two girls. "Now come on, let's get home, your mother is worried sick about you two." And with that he nudged them both with his snout and let them lead the way back home. Adolfo kept his eyes upon Isadora and Debora, but he was listening to what the shadows were telling him.

"Whatever you say daddy," they giggled and then with his nudge took off back to the willow.

Fie rushed from the darkness and quickly curled herself around her girls inspecting them with her eyes and nose and nuzzling them. "Oh my darlings..." She sighed and gently licked the tops of their heads unable to summon up any anger at their wandering off. She was so greatful to have them back especially after imagining and remembering the things she herself had done to pups.

She moved back over to Adolfo and nuzzled him "They were alright?"

Without any sign or warning Debora and Isadora was ingulfed in their mother's midnight black fur and her infamous white lynx pelt. They could feel being poked, prodded and virtually just inspected all the while being nuzzled.

"MOM! WE'RE FINE," the two groaned, but licked at their mother's snout in a manner to comfort her.

Adolfo watched as Fie came from the shadows and curled around the two adventurers. As she stepped back he gave one nod of his head to her question. "They are unscathed, besides the minor buzz on their crowns, but uninjured. Although, Fie, we'll need to talk about something later tonight, when everyone is slumbering." His eyes locked upon the girls, who just curled around their mother, "They meet the alpha to RoT, and he took up quiet the interest in them...and you."

Adolfo turned his emerald eyes to look into Fie's ruby gems. His eyes were hard, but concern for her safety was obvious in their depths. "As I said, we need to talk about some stuff."
