Other News: July 8th 2008 BlackGoat.com As previously reported, SLIPKNOT nearly had to cancel the video shoot for "Psychosocial" on June 30 when band DJ Sid Wilson was hospitalized with a head injury before the shoot. According to the UK's Kerrang! magazine, percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan explained, "Sid's building himself a studio downtown and got attacked by a door knob. Now he's got five staples in his head." Crahan himself was almost hurt during a recent photo shoot when the floorboards of an abandoned shack collapsed underneath him. SLIPKNOT revealed their new masks on July 1 with an exclusive set of photos at Spinner.com. Described as "creepy" and "intricate," some of the nine band members' masks have changed considerably, while others have been altered only a little. Frontman Corey Taylor's mask has undergone the most drastic and disturbing change, now looking like it's made of "dried human flesh," as MTV.com put it. Crahan has built lots of leather and zippers into his disguise, calling to mind the "Gimp" from the movie "Pulp Fiction", while drummer Joey Jordison has added a crown of black thorns to his design. SLIPKNOT reportedly rarely cleans their masks, despite the band's claims that they bleed, sweat and vomit into them during concerts. SLIPKNOT will co-headline the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour this summer with DISTURBED. The trek kicks off on July 9 in Seattle. Quote: Slipknot, the Grammy Award winning hard rock machine from of Des Moines, IA is back. The band will release its fourth album, All Hope is Gone, on Roadrunner Records on August 26, 2008. The album was recorded this spring in Slipknot’s home state and is co-produced by the band and Dave Fortman. “The nine” will spend their summer laying waste to arenas in North America as they headline the first annual Rock Star Energy Mayhem Festival. As Slipknot’s first tour in three years, these dates are sure to bring the band’s legion of diehard fans, affectionately dubbed "maggots," out in full force.All Hope is Gone is more of a statement than a record. Corey Taylor comments, "Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made. And I challenge anyone to prove me wrong." The album promises to blend elements of 2004’s Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and 2001’s Iowa, while adding a perspective, freshness and depth that only three years apart can bring. The first single “Psychosocial” will be delivered to radio on June 30 and will be available digitally on July 1. I don't know if anyone knows about this yet or if it's around the boards anywhere, but I think it's awesome and I had to share...  I'll probably be one of the people who just stand by the store while the CD is going on just to listen to it firsthand, haha.
